-Anbu Journal Entry- Dated November 16, Posted November 16
Hello again. I'm sorry I haven't written in so long; things have been busy, getting ready for the baby. For one thing...Vanyel grew! UP nonetheless. I ran into her again a couple months back. That same meeting allowed me to meet the person I have decided is worse than the woman who tried to confine me to her shop: Amahte. He's convinced he's a GOD! No mere child is a god. To say he INFURIATES me more than Degas is an understatement. Degas at least provides some entertainment! On another note: I met one of Mom's friends, Crystal...Very interesting woman. More a classic beauty than Mom, but it fits her. I don't mind leaving Mom in her care on occasion. Though I did get dragged around and shuffled about quite a bit on that outing...Happens when keeping tabs on someone. I still dislike Kyuubi. I respect him a bit more, since he did get us a new home, and he seems to be taking good care of Mom...but I still don't like him! Arius...That boy is the greatest playmate EVER. That is all I shall say...though his father is a bit...Pretty, I guess is the word. Last I knew, men aren't supposed to be that pretty. Another person who is the greatest playmate EVER...Merrick. Little pirate boy with seaweed hair who is an expert at playing pretend. And loves fish. Which is good, because fish is delicious! I still need to convince Gramps to make some of the things Merrick suggested... Well...Mom comes ever closer to her due date. She still refuses to find out what gender the baby is, but I don't mind. Though it's very strange seeing Mom so...heavy on her feet. I suppose that happens when one is pregnant.
Bye bye! Anbu Akarui

Maturity Prompt (Required To Teach Teen Stage) Learning how to be responsible is an important part of growing up. In order for your scent to mature into a teen, they need to prove that they are capable of taking responsibility for themselves and/or others. That said, your scent comes home one day with an amazing story that shows how responsible they are. They have rescued a cat, saved up enough money to buy themselves something nice, or saved the world from an evil wizard that tried to divide by zero. Whether it was ultimately to serve themselves or others, your scent's tale will show traits of maturity that will let them blossom into angry, hormone-driven monsters that act nothing like the sweet children that you fondly remember having. Be as creative as you'd like with their story, and remember:RESPONSIBLITY, DO YOU HAS IT?! ... Anbu is a lady.

What Did You Do With My Kid! -Maturity Prompt- Kyoko sighed and leaned back in the overstuffed chair she'd taken to inhabiting the past few days. It was in a spot that was near enough to the fireplace to be warm, but not stuffy.
"Mom." The blond looked to her right at Anbu's familiar voice (had it been seven months already?). The Scent had a serious look, far more serious than she'd seen it.
"What is it?" Anbu cleared its throat, keeping one hand behind its back.
"I have two things to tell you...I'll start with the longer one." Kyoko raised an eyebrow and shifted a bit, to face Anbu better.
"Okay..."
"While you've been at school, I've been doing...odd jobs, for the neighbors. Walking dogs, raking leaves, scooping dog leavings...I've managed to save up quite a bit of money. Now, I know you're expecting that I got something for myself...That was my original plan. You see...there was an outfit I was interested in...don't look at me like that, I can like an outfit just as much as you. Anyways..." Anbu cleared its throat again, slightly annoyed while Kyoko just rolled her eyes. "I went to the store...but on my way to the outfit...I saw something else..."
At this point, Anbu brought out the item from behind its back. In the Scent's hand was a simple pale green baby blanket with frogs embroidered on it. Kyoko just stared, dumbfounded.
"You...got something for the baby?" Anbu nodded, looking slightly embarrassed.
"Kyuubi and Gramps make enough to support us all...but...I thought my younger sibling should have something from their big sister." Kyoko nodded, trying not to jump up and hug the Scent.
"I'm so proud of y-Wait...SISTER?! You're a girl?!" Anbu simply nodded and proceeded out of the den and towards the nursery, leaving Kyoko with a parting phrase.
"Of course. Did you think a boy could pull off the act I've been playing?"

-All Growed Up- Dated December 7th
The first thing Kyoko noticed when she walked into Anbu's room was the smell. It wasn't really an unpleasant fragrance...Just strong. Very strong. It smelled of candied apples, cotton candy, and caramel corn...like her daughter's scent whenever Kyoko managed to hold the child close enough. The second thing was that there was a young woman that looked about her age doing stretches in the middle of the room.
"What the...Who the hell are you?!" The girl turned around and Kyoko blinked. Same smirk, same strange mask, same night-sky eye...
"Who else would be in this room but me?" Kyoko was utterly lost now...Anbu had been a child last night...and now...Kyoko was very, very confused. Friday was officially the new Monday.
"But...last night...You were this tall...and now..." The lithe young woman stood and walked over to Kyoko, smirk still on her face...she was taller than Kyoko now.
"I grew up, Mom. That IS what kids do, after all...I just happened to do so faster than others." Kyoko just turned and trudged out of the room.
"Esme is still babysitting you!"

Anbu Journal Entry -Dated December 10-
Oh gods! My eyes! They STILL burn...;_; Last night, I saw the WORST thing EVER. I went to go con Mom into making something to eat, since I'm not allowed in the kitchen and Gramps was at work...and I saw them DOING IT! ,>.<, It was NOT on my list of things to see. So I admit, Kyuubi is kinda good-looking...But he's still Evil Incarnate! >.- -sigh- Things have been a little strange since I grew up. Mom has been a little out of sorts, and people will complain about how strong my scent is now...I can't help it! Gramps thinks it's nifty though. Says it's strong without being overpowering. And then he made me some caramel corn. It's very yummy!
Well...I have to go now...Mom is insisting on dragging me to school with her today...I have to wear normal clothes again...Ick.

-You're okay...For a KID.- Anbu and Asa
(Copied from AIM) Babysitting. Unless it was for Naruto, Anbu HATED babysitting. And for some new little Scent-brats she hadn't even seen yet! Ooooo...she would get her mother and Nyoko for talking her into this. Kyuubi hadn't even needed to help...both older women had just pulled some sort of...of CUTE face on her. The sort that no one could resist. And now, she was standing just inside the door of The Kitsune's Den, looking rather irate.
Asa abhored his mother right now. He didn't need a babysitter, nevermind that technically he was only a day old. The young Scent boy scowled from his spot draped on a beanbag chair in The Den, fingers drumming along the table. Gods, his babysitter was probably some crazy old woman who lived in her house with ten different cats.
Anbu followed the drumming sound, arms crossed and frown on her face. At least she wasn't forced into wearing something...practical. When she caught sight of the boy (supposedly the girl was already well asleep), she cleared her throat. "I take it you're Asa...little monster number one." Her voice was flat.
"And you're the crazy old coot I'm stuck with?" Asa asked after glancing over Anbu. After a long moment, a wicked grin crossed his face and he gave a low whistle. "Daaaaaaaamn. `Kaa-san sure know how to pick them."
Anbu raised a brow. "Crazy old coot? You don't have a very active imagination, do you?" She couldn't help a swell of pride from his...compliment, but she also had something of ethics. Sometimes. This was one of those sometimes. She smirked. "And last I knew, kiddo, you're too young to be thinkin' like that."
"What? I'm too young to think a girl like you has a great body?" Asa asked, rolling his eyes and smirking. He didn't think anyone was too young to appreciate beauty. Oh, he knew he was too young for some more... Intimate activities. But he could wait. "And like you didn't think your first babysitter was probably going to be some crazy old coot."
Anbu chuckled. "Generally, boys your age think girls that aren't their mother have cooties." And then she wrinkled her nose. "No...I knew who my babysitter was and he was worse. At least back then I thought he was." Ah...how Anbu wished she could go back to the good ol' days of wanting to squish Kyuubi with something large and heavy. Now though...she couldn't help but respect the father of her precious baby brother.
"I heard from `Kaa-san that your mother is with Kyuubi. I suppose he was your babysitter?" Asa asked, raising a single brow and moving to sit up.
Anbu nodded. "Yup. I liked the lady Mom had babysit me after him MUCH better." The smirk returned. "Esme was much nicer, and I usually got a new shirt out of the deal. 'Course...I can't fit any of them now." She would need to visit Esme later...perhaps she could convince the seamstress to make her something for street performances...
"He's a bit off in the head," Asa conceeded, stretching absently and rubbing the scales on the back of his hand. The feel of them caused him to frown slightly. They were starting to lose their moisture... With a rather exaggerated sigh, he got to his feet, absently glancing to where Yue was sleeping. "Do you know where `Kaa-san put my lotion?"
Anbu went through the list of instructions in her head...then nodded. "Nyoko said it was..." She stopped and blinked. "By the cash register? Now that I think about it, why the hell would she keep it there?"
"If it was in the bathroom, then everyone would use it up. And I need it," Asa said simply, rolling his eyes and walking over to the cash register. He grabbed the small bottle of unscented lotion there before going to sit on a table nearby. The small boy then kicked off his shoes, revealing the scales that were also on the tops of his feet, and began to rub the lotion into the scales.
"That does make sense." She finally sat down in one of the beanbag chairs scattered about. "So...the scales cause issues if they aren't kept moisturized?" Anbu, despite her chagrin, was still curious. Besides...it wasn't like any of the other Scents she'd met had scales.
"When they start to lose moisture, they itch really bad. I found out pretty quickly that if I scratch them too much, they start to peel. Which hurts really bad since they're attached beneath my skin," Asa explained absently, lifting a scale on the edge of his han to show Anbu how they were buried deep into his skin. "I can only imagine how much it would hurt if one of them got pulled out."
Anbu winced. "That would be rather...painful." She rather liked being one of the more...normal looking Scents. Well, except for her mask. But no one was going to get her to take it off. "So anything else intriguing about you I should know about that your mother didn't mention?"
Not that I know of. My scales are what really sets me apart, I suppose," Asa said absently, shrugging and putting the scale back into place. Once he was done moisturizing his scales, he moved back to his previous seat on the beanbag chair. "I heard from `Kaa-san that you can do magic."
Anbu nodded. "It's not anything big...yet. But it tends to impress the uninformed and Anima." To illustrate, she showed him the inside of her purse, which consisted of very little including her wallet...then reached her hand inside. She rummaged around a bit, then pulled out a small vase. The dark scent blinked. "Well...that's a new one."
"Anima-`Baa-san is a bit... Easily entertained," Asa said absently, offering Anbu a small clap of appreciation. "Very well done though. I bet you'll be a great performer when you're older."
Anbu nodded. "That she is. But she's sweet...genuinely so in a world so often not." The older Scent sat a little straighter. "Of course I will. Performing IS my art and hobby, after all." She grinned. "Perhaps your mother has told you of what happened at the Masquerade?"
"I heard you caused quite a scene there," Asa said with a haughty smirk. "I almost regret I wasn't around to see it."
Anbu chuckled and posed a bit. "That I did. Still my best performance yet, aside from hiding my gender for over half a year." Ah...good times. "Matter of fact...would have gone on hiding my gender had I not gotten a little tired of the charade."
"I must wonder how anyone could have been hard pressed to realize you were a woman. Such a beautiful face and figure you have," Asa said with a small purr, his eyes glittering.
Anbu's grin turned to a smirk. "Obliviousness, and the fact I looked a little more boyish before I grew up." She laughed. "You're not bad...for a kid." And if he got better looking when he grew...well, Anbu wouldn't be adverse to adding him to her rather small List.
"And you're not bad either... For a babysitter," Asa teased back, laughing softly and sprawling out on the beanbag again.
