Hadrian suddenly felt very stupid. Of COURSE ... and airplane. Good thing he hadn't said anything out loud about the flying...

"What kind of provisions? Like...tools and things?" What would you need on an adventure, he thought. Rope...and some sort of sword maybe? Then again who in the world would he be fighting...and he didn't know how to use a sword. So maybe not a sword.

"Hmm... well, there's obviously food, of course, although beyond that..." Irisa trailed off, thinking to herself. Tools was a rather good point, come to think about it. "Well, for tools, I'm bringing along a sword but mainly just for cutting things in case that's needed. I'm also bringing along paper, but that's for taking my own notes. A few stones so I have something to do with my spare time..."

Truthfully, Irisa didn't know if there was anything else they could need on the trip. She supposed if the Vatican items were really THAT much under heavy security and if a little... forced recovery was required might necescitate something such as a blow torch, but those didn't come in feien size even in her bond's laboratory.

Come to think of it, if she and Hadrian had been able to learn some spells in time, Hadrian could magically handle the blow torching himself and she could take care of any first aid needs with mend or mud poulticing, but those weren't options either. Still, she didn't think Julius would send them on a quest they couldn't do due to spells she didn't have or lack of items that existed in feien sizes, so she imagined all of those probably wouldn't be necessary.

"Too much packing probably wouldn't be necessary." she smiled, before adding, "Well, maybe some items for first aid and perhaps a credit card if you think you might need it, I suppose. Not that I know whether or not people would accept credit cards from fairies."

That's right. Judging by Fiona's desire for her father's credit card, in the human world, there probably was often a need for 'cash' here and there, come to think about it. Unfortunately, Irisa's experience in that field was somewhat lacking.

"...hopefully my bond's friend who's taking us will assume the majority of the cash responsibilities." Irisa quickly added.

Nodding slowly, Hadrian reviewed his own list in his head.
Rope...and matches. Those were important. He should ask his mom what she thought he'd need. She seemed to know alot more about this "adventuring" thing then he did. And he knew SHE had been on 'trips' before.
He wasn't worried about money. Maybe it was just something that was encouraged in his particular household...but he'd learned that you could get away with alot of sneaking things when you happen to be quite small.

"My mom says that people don't generally take seeing fairies well in general...in most places."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2004 8:30 pm

"Indeed. The sneaking should hopefully not be too much of a problem, assuming that we don't have to get past any high tech security systems." Irisa nodded, before adding, "Still, it's best to be prepared for anything, I imagine. Ah, hopefully I'm not being too paranoid just because I've never ventured so far from home before."

Well if she hadn't been that far away from home either, he didn't feel TOO bad about his lack of experience.
"I'll ask my mom...er...bonded..." He thought it might...well not be 'acceptable' to call ones bond 'mom'...if no other Feien seemed to do it.
"If she has any ideas. She's travelled alot...she'll know all about Rome I'm sure." He smiled, excited to get started on the adventure.

It had now come to Irisa's ability to figure out just who Hadrian was talking about when he referred to 'mom'. Ah? That was interesting. Irisa never experienced what it was like to be that close to your bond. Well, that and she already had a real mother and even a fairy godmother too.

"Oh, that would be great." Irisa smiled. "I don't think my bond or his friend are very used to conventional methods of travel. They seem to always use... er, rather shady methods the majority of the time. If your bond wishes, I imagine she could come along too, although I suppose going to Rome would be quite a lot to her. Or... mother. Whichever you prefer to refer to her as."

With that, Irisa looked off to the side.

"My own bond... well, he's not really much of a parent to me so much as just... an acquaintance of sorts. So I'm not exactly sure of the etiquette when it comes to other feiens' relationships with their bonded." she cheerfully remarked in thought.

Hadrian looked at his hands, and fidgeted a little.
"Ah...I don't know. Everyone seems to call their bonds...er well bonds. Maybe I'm just different. I always called mine mom. She just explained it that way I guess. I..."
He paused, "I'm glad...though. I heard..I mean...that we can die. Fade away if our Bonded abandons us. Mom...you can call her my bonded if you want, I mean she's not REALLY my mother - not like you're mother is your mother...But anyway, she always seems so sad when she finds out one of us died. I think it'd be scary, to not be close to your bonded..."
He belatedly realised what he had implied, "Oh...I'm sorry. I didn't mean..."

Irisa gazed up towards the ceiling, trying to think about what Hadrian just said. Finally, she turned to him and shrugged.

"It's okay. My bond isn't that close to me, but he seems like a good man, even if he's rather... odd in many respects. I don't think he'd abandon me." the young feien remarked, before smiling. "Besides, he's almost as interested in my magic research as I am. ...admittingly, mainly so he can see it proven to be hogwash or something of the sort, but it does make us share a common goal, at least."

He nodded, releaved that he hadn't said anything that might hurt her feelings.
"Anyway, I don't think she can go. She's got babies..and I don't want them along with us. They're LOUD." He said emphatically. Maybe the twins would be better when they were older, and he didn't mind getting to listen to the stories his mom told them...but they made so much NOISE for babies. Then again maybe that was normal for babies - he'd never really been around any before.

Babies? Oh, right.

"That's a good point." Irisa nodded. "My bond has a baby right now too, and she's... rather demanding. It probably wouldn't be too good an idea, then..."

Hrm...

"Still, it doesn't matter. I'm sure things will be alright, now." Irisa happily nodded. "With you and father along, we should be able to more than handle this."

Hadrian smiled widely, "I'm sure we can! And besides...we'll get to see ROME! It'll be great...amasing." He spun around, "An adventure like in story books!"

He stopped spinning.
"When are we leaving?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2004 10:09 pm

"In a few days. The scheduling isn't too exact yet due to the short notice of the trip, but we should be ready very soon." Irisa nodded. "If you have access to a phone, then I can call you when we're ready. Or e-mail. Or mail another letter. Whichever you prefer."

Wow, Irisa was having a bit of deja vu now. Did she answer the question about when they were leaving before? Perhaps it was because it was getting late. She looked at the clock at the wall.

"Ah, it must be getting dark outside. I hope it's okay..."

Hmm... Irisa didn't know whether Hadrian made arrangements with his bond to go home or whether he'd have to make his way home in the dark.

"I can leave you the phone number for my house. Do you have something I could write it on?"
He was far to excited to remember that he'd already asked when they were leaving...

He paused to blink at the clock. "Oh NO! I told my mom I'd be home before dark!" His eyes widened, "I'm gonna be in so much trouble!"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2004 10:21 pm

"Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't know." Irisa quickly apologized. With that, she flew over to one of the shelves and quickly flew back as fast as she could with a sheet of her feien-sized paper and her feather quill.

"Here. We'll just have to continue this another time. We'd better get going. I wouldn't want you to get home too late just because of all this." she nodded. "I'll contact you when I know when it's time to go, though!"

Hadrian jotted down the phone number for Fyre's house as quickly as he could. He had messy handwriting, but it was legible anyway.
"Alright! I'll have to hurry...uhm..."
He blushed slightly, "How do I get out of the house?"
