Hurrying back to the door, Natsuki opened it wide to find three more people waiting outside. Flinging the door open, the bubbly redhead greeted them warmly, "Welcome! Welcome! Come on in! My name's Natsuki. It's nice to meet you," she smiled, greeting Isi and Eiry for the first time, before turning her attention to Alex "Alex! How are you, darling?" Natsuki kised her friend lightly on both cheeks before ushering them in.

Turning the lock on the door, she propped it slightly open and slapped a big sign on the door that simply read "Come on in! The Party's Fine!" as a clear indication that people didn't need to stand outside and wait. Since the music would be blaring soon, no one would hearthe doorbell if it rang anyway.

"If you've brought gifts, they go over there on the tables," Natsuki smiled, gesturing across the room. "Other than that, have fun!"

At the voice, Isi jumped and gave a squeak of surprise as he choked on his greeting. Eiry, on the other hand, spun around with the flap and push of his wispy wings and grinned at Alex, "Halloa, Alex. Are you birthday-going too?"

Isi, by this time, managed to juggle his invitation and the two cards for the birthday people to his other arm. He turned and smiled up at her, balancing delicately on his crutches, "Hiya to you too! It's great to see that you're here. I was afraid there wouldn't me many people I knew."

Suddenly the door was thrust open and the three were ushered inside by a perky young lady. Following her directions, Isi and Eiry moved over to the gift table where they placed their cards and well wishes in strategic places along the tablecloth. At Isi's request, the two turned again and Isi held out his hand for the hostess, "Hullo, I'm Isi Delaran and this is Eirdirsceol, my raevan."

Eiry gave a shy wave and floated behind his keeper. All this noise was making him feel small and compacted. This was only his second real event with lots of other people. The first was at the Valentine's day party and that didn't end up so well. Hopefully this one would be a lot better.

Slanndalous
Fashionably late? We`rika gave his friend a blunt look, <******** if I know... this is yer culture no' mine..." But We`rika's "duh!" look melted into a giggle at Ravi's last comment. "Hey.. ya should thank me fer tha'... he almos' caugh' us hahaha! I pract'ally pulled tha' smoke bomb from my a**..." It was so true too. He didn't really know why he ever carried it around... but it came in handy today. Though now that he thought about it... Kyou would always remember their first meeting as 'The ******** who threw a bomb at me...' But booze and cake would be the remedy.

Slouching on the bar counter, the Huichol yawned and started to unstack his wobbly pyramid of inebriation. "You wan' anythin'?" He asked Ravi, getting out another glass.

"Err... no, that's fine," Ravi sputtered, turning away from the bar from which We`rika had offered him a drink. There was a reason he didn't get drunk. Pyramids needed to built with infrastructure and support, with safety, and ultimately, with caution - inebriation offered nothing but disaster for those components. He eyed We`rika's shot glass set-up and bit his lip absently. He couldn't afford to err... especially when he was hosting an event for some important personages.

While he had been distracted with his own thoughts, a number of Dr. Kyou and Chloe's acquaintances had entered, including Natsuki and Chloe herself. Since the young lab assistant seemed flustered as it was, he opted to greet her in a short while. Instead, he went to offer his condolences to Natsuki, who despite her own housing troubles had helped decorate, manage, and bake for the party.

"Glad to see that things are well underway," Ravi said with a nearly uncharacteristic grin as he went to stand at Natsuki's side. "Your assistance is appreciated."

The Italian grinned broadly, unable to hide her mirth. Before she could reply, Natsuki swung the door open. Alex greeted her with a squeak of bubbling glee, returning the oh-so familiar greeting with kisses of her own. "Natsuki, mi bella, what a delightful surprise!" She followed Isi and Eiry as she was ushered in, putting the card on Dr. Kyou's table and the small box on Chloe's. She turned and started to walk towards the drink area, giving Eiry a wink and a thumbs up to encourage him. If anything else, he could hide by her; she liked the Raevan's cute demeanor and she could always call the two Gwee outside to come in if needed.

Alex poured herself a cup of water, taking a few dainty sips, her eyes skimming for familiar faces while memorizing new ones.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both, Mind if I call you Isi and Eiry? Those names are beautiful, but I'll never remember them," Natsuki smiled apologetically, before turning her attention to Eiry. "No need to be afraid. It's a party, and hopefully, it'll be enjoyable for everyone. Want to hit the pinata? I'll show ya how its done."

Natsuki walked over to the pinata, and plucked up the blindfold. She was determined to get a couple of smacks in before she gets innandated with song requests. Picking up the bat, she spun around several times, trying not to fall over in her high heels, while aiming for number 64!

"Yosh! Here goes nothing!!" She called, taking a swing at the pinatas. Surprisingly, she made contact, slicing the neck, but not cleanly through. Natsuki looked up and sighed as the head simply dangled by the rough of its neck.

Aliena had placed the gifts on their respected tables; she had noticed the girl with another dress similar to hers yet not just the same. ‘The one time I end up leaving my barnyard to look good, someone ends up looking like me’ Ally wasn’t the jealous type, so eventually she just small talked with other quests. She had, it seems, avoided any conversations with any of the raevans, yet found it hard to keep herself from staring.

Walking over to the drink table and found water, she wasn’t an alcohol drinker so water would suit her any day. Then the piñata caught her eye, this could be a great opportunity to grab some candy, if there was any in it and maybe grab a talk with the raevan. She smiled and walked over, watching the other girl in the blue dress swing. Waiting for her turn, Ally watched threw the crowd trying to pick out people she could recognize by their faces, she was an amazing 5’7” so spotting Chloe was no problem, she mentally noted to go wish her a happy birthday later one when she wouldn’t be so crowed with other people who wanted to say happy birthday.

Turning back to attention on the piñata, Aliena smiled.
“Mind if I give it a swing?”

Times changed now and again, Julian noted dully with every passing year, month, and fleeting moment he could never quite grasp. When his parents had conducted parties during his youth, the events were all definitely black-tie affairs. His casual attire, which was barely better than his school's uniform, would have been looked down upon in such a manner that the boy he had once been would have been rather ashamed for even thinking of wearing anything akin to a sweater. Still, as he stood in front of his apartment's bathroom mirror, Julian Sweet felt nothing was terribly wrong about the situation. In fact, there was bound to be alcohol downstairs, so nothing was terribly wrong outside of his own dark mental prescriptions.

The bandages on his arms were fresh, the clothing he was wearing felt comfortable, and the fact the party was merely a celebration of Chloe and the doctor did wonders for any nerves he might have experienced had the event been important. Birthdays were birthdays and required a lot less thought than business parties. One could relax at a birthday party, even if the guests of honor controlled a good portion of what Julian deemed to be his future.

After another long minute of physical consideration, Julian decided he was well enough. There were only so many times a man could look at himself before feeling idiotic, and everything that could be done about his failings had been neatly covered up with white cloth. The soft dark circles under his eyes, he had decided a long time ago, were almost picturesque of a period in which nobody ever really slept. For him, that era was very current, but for others it was more of their parents' sort of thing, what with the next generation being just about as lazy as possible and all that.

He smirked at his reflection if only to practice the motion before switching off the light and heading down to the festivities. Surprisingly, the young scientist was rather easy to look over as he made his way into the lobby and towards the ballroom. Party-goers were filtering in from the front doors and were obviously doing a lot more in order to become noticed. Julian, for all his scrutiny of his appearance and stamina, would be more than merely all right if he could simply cradle a bottle of bourbon in the corner the entire night.

Besides, at some point, he needed to find out where Gage was hiding.

Come on in! The Party's Fine!

If one chanced a look across the lobby from where that sign had been posted, their eyes would have come across a smallish woman who looked for all the world like she was having a staring contest with it. Was this the right place... the surprise party for the esteemed Dr. Kyou and his bubblegum-haired assistant? Despite the few magical floating upper torsos milling about the place, Mouse still had her doubts. If she could just assimilate into the party, things would be fine. That damn sign didn't give her much direction besides encouraging her to enter the door, and she didn't like that.

"Umm," she muttered oh-so-intelligently, taking two steps towards the door, hands sweating around the gifts she had brought. She heard the word "pinata" a few times from beyond that wood slab-on-a-hinge, and... well, that was more of a tipoff than she was willing to ask for. So, against her instinct, she entered the ballroom while trying to keep her steps as quiet as possible. Looking around for someone who could confirm the obvious once and for all, she asked aloud, "This is the birthday party, right? For Doctor Kyou?"

It was, probably by coincidence, asked just as Julian breezed into the room.

"Sure thing! Have a good time of it," Natsuki said giving a smile to the girl, handing her the blindfold and bat. Without another word, she made a bee line for the venue's owner, Julian.

Something about Julian concerned her, but a festive gathering was not the time nor the place to voice those concerns. What caught her eye first was the bandages on his hands, as the last time she'd seen him, his hands were in very good shape. Giving him a polite nod, she joined him at the base of the stairs.

"Thanks again for letting us host the party for Dr. Kyou and Chloe here, Julian. When my cafe burned down, I didn't know what to do," Natsuki smiled, touching her chin in thought. Turning her attention to the woman close by. "You're in the right place, chickie!"

It took Julian a moment to realize a question had been asked in his general directon, but once he did, the answer seemed rather obvious and quite fairly he chose not to respond. Instead, he stood where he had stopped approximately five feet away from the woman he assumed didn't know who he was, and quietly watched as a more familiar female made her way over and replied to the question for him. With a slight inclination of his head towards the ballroom, he concurred.

"Ms. Natsuki, I'll assume you're enjoying yourself. You seem like it," he stated firmly, raising a hand to fiddle lightly with the collar of his shirt. There was an edgey tone to his voice that stated quite frankly, "I know we kissed, but don't expect me to be... nice". To be fair, Julian didn't expect she had, but he might as well make his disposition clear for future conversations. If Natsuki chose to continue the current one, she was digging her own grave and the blood was no longer on his hands.

Out of the corner of his eye, the student spied something green, but it proved to merely be some of the horrid decorations the others had insisted on ruining his complex with. That was bound to become very irritating sooner or later.

Aliena placed the blindfold over her eyes, someone anonymous handed her the bat and she took a swing. She didn’t hit anything at first, but with a determined look Ally kept swinging trying to at least hit anything, but a living person. Then finally she felt the piñata make contact with her stick and she took off her blindfold, she had hit an 88, although she had not won, she would diffently be trying again later on.

Now after having spent some of her fun on the piñata, it was time to go wish all the happy birthdays, and Chloe was first on her list. Spotting the girl, Aliena walked over, grabbing another glass of water on her way, but seeing as another crowd had rolled in to meet Chloe, Ally decided to talk to one of the raevans, but which one?

Chloe was quite extremly surprised, actually. She blinked as she was promptly brought into the lobby of the apartment complex. Colors popped out at her from everywhere, cheerful music played and We`rika gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"W-What..?" She blinked.

People were quickly filing in after her, she could recognize quite a few faces, though a few names were lost to her at the moment. She was about to ask her friend another question when suddenly a package was flying through the air. Toward Roux.

The Raeven was busy looking at himself in the mirror, and so did -not- see the package flying. It hit him in the shoulder and partially cuffed the side of his head. It caused him to drop the broken shard of mirror he was holding, sending it shattering on the floor.

He blinked and looked down at the many reflective shards that littered the floor, his expression blank. Very slowly he leaned down and picked up the biggest peice of mirror and held it up between his thumb and finger so he could continue gazing at his own reflection. Quietly he gravitated toward a far corner of the room.

Julian's less than pleasant reply, floor Natsuki. On their previous meeting he was quite polite, however, his a matter of fact reponse to her. Her gray eyes widen and her elegant brows arched accordindly, giving him clear indication that it was not the response she had antipated from someone willing to offer up their personal space for such a large fete.

"W-well, now that's out of the way, can I get you something to drink?" Natsuki said, trying to pull herself back together and hide the slightly embarrassed flush in her cheeks. Putting on her stage face, she gazed back hard at him. "Unless you'd prefer I leave you alone."

"Alright, thanks," Mouse replied, nodding her head curtly - partially as a greeting and an expression of gratitude, partially to try and get any lingering stupid to leave her head. After doing this, she perks up slightly. "And so we don't have to deal with cute nicknames, I'm Mouse, alright?" The inherent oxymoron that might be gathered from that statement remained unnoticed by her.

Something about Julian seemed familiar... something about a happening at the Lab a while ago. She'd only seen him during whatever that was (a scavenger hunt or something, she honestly didn't recall much of the details) and had recognized him not for his own appearance, but for that of something that was... missing. "Hey, I remember you; you have the green Raevan with the biomechanical-looking wings... if you don't mind me asking, where is he now?"

Mouse's eyes also took note of an icy Raevan looming in the corner... didn't she photograph that one once?

Alex's emerald gaze followed a throng of people as they surrounded...Chloe? "Oh, you poor thing," she chuckled quietly, wondering if she should try to drag the receptionist away. The party was for the pink-haired woman's birthday, though, and the last thing Alex wanted to do was be rude about it. However, where there was Chloe, there was--ah. There he was. Roux. Her eyes narrowed just a touch at the sight of the vain creature, feeling slightly uncertain inside. She admired him, but she no longer tried to be civil; it was his terms or none at all.

Forcibly looking away from the frosty being, she found Natsuki again, talking to one of the men she'd seen at the fair not too long ago. The way he held himself reminded her strongly of Roux, in a 'get-away-from-me' pose that suggested confidence and maybe a touch of arrogance. Alex quietly lifted her glass of water to Natsuki's turned back, giving her friend silent encouragement for her bravery before taking another sip of her beverage of choice. It was a party, and she had intended to engross herself in it, but she found herself falling back on old observational habits, watching those gathered and breaking down their stance and personality without ever talking to them.

Maybe it was a bad habit, but it was as much a part of living as it was to breathe.
