Let me see if I can get this right.
Band Camp: 8-4 about 3 wks.
During school: Approx. 1 hr. during class and 8 - 9 hrs a week after school. Plus extra practices for games and contests. Not too bad, I guess.

SisiflutterBye At my school, we begin marching in August from 7 in the morning to 12 noon, and I live in Texas, so it's HOT!!! The percussion kids continue on until about 3 or 4 (9 hours! eek ) During school, we rehearse from 3 till 5:30 every day except Wednesday, and then we have our games on Friday, so we don't even go home that day. Tiring, but I love every minute (hour) of it! xd So, anyone else have a ridiculous practice schedule? I live in texas too. but i got lucky. i am part of the new high school over in kingwood, therefore, i am the first graduating class. If i didnt live in the right area i would be going to Kingwood High. Their schedule is ridiculous! Its just about the same as your schedule but i dont think they get any days off. Idk. At the moment, we practice everyday from 3-5 or 5 30 after skewl and in august, i think we have practice from 7 to 12 or 1. So i dont think my skewl is that bad, but im pretty sure its going to change in the future. Man do i understand what you mean about texas heat, though! it gets pretty harsh, but im mainly a clarinet player during marching, every now and then theyll put me on barri and alto sax.

One weekend a month - usually 9:00/9:30-4:30 on both Saturday and Sunday seeing as I'm not in a school marching band, kind of a state one. In Australia we're not really big on the marching band front in schools. stupid department of education *shakes fist*

Perc. 8-12 July 16-20
then 8-10 July 20-July 27
July 30-Aug 3rd 7:30=10:30
Aug 6-10 7:3-10:3
Aug 13-17 7:30-11:30
Aug 20-22 7:30-12:00 ( crying gonk wtf)
And then 40+ min everyday in the school year, unless we have after-school pratices.
Not as bad as some, but still....Ag, my drum is about a 1/3 my hight, I hurt all over, 7:3-12 later, 4.5 hours ToT In the heat...Just kill me nooooow....

my skool begin next week.....and it is band camp..that is held from 8am -8pm....i have to wake up earlyer....But yea thats how long ares is ^^ but i get to c my friends so yea i cant wait..
so yea i wont be on till after 8pm so yea

22-29days, from 8am-8pm practice in my skool ^^

Normal practices for my Marching Band are 3-5 every Friday during school. We take a month or two off for winter. Marching band Camp starts up in august, so that'll be fun.

August 22: 9am-12pm
August 23: 9am-12pm
August 24: 9am-12pm
August 27: 9am-12pm

Well...the first week is 9-5, the second week is 4-9 PM, and the third is 4-7:30.

let's see.....we march during class when school's in...that's about 90 minutes....then every mon. and thurs. we march for 3 hours and band camp is from 8-noon this year. it was 8am-5pm it was really long! xd and our assitant director is a daddy!

this band camp isnt so bed. we have practice from 1-7,mon-thurs. for 3 weeks. and then when school starts we have practice right after school at 3 until about 7. on mon and wed. its hot but last year we had lots more practices.

Every other state besides Texas has it great.
Texas has an 8 hour rule.
This means that we can ONLY practice 8 hours a week no matter what.
It really sucks because it means other schools have more time to prepare.
That's why not many bands from Texas go to nationals.
This also means that the ones who make it to finals must be REALLY good. This last year, four made it to finals from Texas.
L.D Bell hs is amazing. They have never scored lower than 5th at any Nationals, and have always made finals when they go.
But the 8 hour rule is gay. We can't start learning drill until August 1st, and we can only practice 8 hours a week during the School year.

We practice the first two weeks, not counting the weekends, in August from 7:30 'til noon. Then, we have two evening practices the third week in August. The following week school starts and we practice for about 30 minutes during 13th period. And I think he scheduled two more evening practices; probably since we have our first show that first Friday of school.

woodwinds practice 2-4 mondays rass practice 2-4 tuesdays percussion 2-4 tuesday wednesday 5-7 colorgurd every day! whole band 2-5 thursday usualy football games on fridays some practices 7-3 on saturdays! some friday practices 2-8!
alot! annoying!

Our band camp was from 8am-8pm
and then we have three hour practices every Monday and Thursday throughout the summer until school starts.
but once school starts, our practices will only last two hours on Monday and Thursday.
Fun, fun.

My band camp practices were INCREASES this year!
Last year it was:
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Now they are
8:00AM to 5:00 PM
Thats what? 9 hours?!
Some of you get it easy.
Our rehearsals are usually from 5 or 6 pm to 9pm
