Crystal allowed herself one frustrated sigh before putting Ment down by the people around the table. "A rain check on your dance, young one," she smiled briefly before gathering the skirts of her dress and following the mummy-woman's lead. She cast quick glances around as she moved through the river of people, looking for anything to stop the rolling child. The woman could only think to stack tables or the ilk, and she doubted she could do it fast enough to actually stop the terror.
She was not afraid to dirty her hands; such was her blessing of being not born of higher blood. Her only other course of action was to let everyone flee to one side or outside of the mansion all together. Then, maybe, they could apprehend the devious little devil. So, she stood in the middle of the dance floor that was quickly becoming empty, hoping an opportunity would present itself.

"Did I say anything? No," said Sati thoughtfully, pulling her monogrammed kerchief back out and dabbing it into a small bottle. She proffered the cloth to Skie. "It's an antiseptic; rub it into the cut. It'll sting," she said. She strolled off without taking it back.
Sati was back in her element. Creepy smoke she couldn't deal with, but cutpurses, hooligans, and bouncing children were just hazards of the job. She smiled slightly and stuck her fingers in her mouth, whistling loudly four times. That sent her bodyguards to each door; they'd watch who came in and out and if the child left, they'd know how to follow.
Sati was intrigued. It wasn't everyday that she saw young boys pop up behind growing clouds of smoke. Magic or not, she was tracking this child down. It was a lesson many learned the hard way: never give the merchant a challenge.
The short trader commandeered her way through the crowd, carrying herself like a woman with a mission. If she cut through this way, maybe she and the mummy-bandaged woman could manage to corner the troublemaker between them.

The Dark Carnival child bounced aorund with Lemon in it's grasp, and as he did so he made an attenpt at another target. Grabbing a certain green headed child and dragging him around with it. "Hello, hello, hello! Care to take a spin?" It cackled, making the ball spin wildly while holding onto Degas with one hand.
Ment screeched loudly at what the child was doing, his voice sounding frantic. "He's gonna drop her!!!!" Her cried, trying to escape Crystal's grasp. "DON'T LET HIM DROP HER!!!"

Degas screamed as he was suddenly snapped into reality by the spin. Of all people in the world, the poor wormwood boy wished that he had not been picked being of very poor consitution for bouncy spining fun. Full of food and now being bounced around could only lead to one thing which was rising in the back of the scent's throat. "OH MY GOD PUT ME DOWN I'M GONNA HURL!!!" He whined trying to shake himself loose.

Keir stood drowsing in a corner, almost completely oblivious to the comings and goings of other partygoers. She didn't wake, even when Dark Carnival came alive to pick on victims. Then someone bumped into her, and she fell over. Now awake, she scrambled to her feet in time to hear Degas scream. "Excuse me, what's going on?" she shouted, asking no one in particular.

Crystal drew her hands to her mouth, her eyes wide. She didn't understand Ment's cry, but she could see the green-child was in danger. There was no use waiting on anyone else! Unthinking, she dropped her hands and gathered her dress, running out in front of the bouncing scent. Carnivales were about fun, not hurting others, right?
"Please, stop!" she called to the bouncing boy, stopping in front of him and dropping her dress to extend her gloved hands for the sick boy and whoever 'she' was. "Please, these people are not having fun. Please give me the boy and...and her!"

Sati stalked by Keir, purposefully making her way toward the deviant child.
"That boy's taken something," she shouted over her shoulder, still muscling through the crowd. "It's time that he was stopped."
If there was one thing Sati hated more than anything else in the world, it was an ill-mannered child.
Finally she located the little agitator; Sati took in the scene carefully as the boy swung another child around. Her eye twitched. This was unacceptable. The trader whistled, two sharp blasts; the bodyguard in the bull mask carefully circled to behind the child. They'd wait and see what was going on more fully before they made their move.

"Please put her down!" Abby darted after the scent. She was already covered in oil, and had been the first to see his "birth".... did that make her a mother? No, no, certainly not. This little demon was it's own creation. "Come back won't you? This is terribley inappropriate!" She franticly tried to dive at the boy on the ball in hopes of catching the child.

Oh the screaming, the panicking, the noises. He really couldn't take this anymore while still keeping his composure. Irene could see clearly what was going on from his angle, that the strange, clown looking child was dragging a helpless boy while bouncing along. Everyone was freaked out by it...everyone other than himself.
Irene didn't know what to do. Should he worry also? He knew well that panicking wouldn't do him any good. Should he help the child? Well, that wasn't really a realistic question. The more realistic would be, could he help the child, while still keeping his status high? Irene damned himself for taking so long to make decisions. He glanced around to see if others were trying to help.
Wait...is that...could that be...
His eyes went wide as a girl literally leapt in front of the clown's pathway, trying to get him to stop. What was she thinking? That stupid girl!! Unconciously Irene reached forward, trying to squeeze through the crowd so he could take Crystal away from her situation. He hoped the clown child could stop, otherwise...
He wouldn't be afraid to hurt him.

Kier raised her eyebrows. A thief? In a classy place like this? Odd.
Following after Sati, she covered her ears when the woman whistled, peering around her to catch a glimpse of the miscreant. So that was thier thief? And he had a captive...so that was the scream? Kier glanced at Sati briefly--Why was she just watching?--before pushing forward to try helpling the girl in front of the thief.

Degas made grabbing motions for Crystal's hands as he tried not to loose his lunch. He moaned a bit looking ready to loose it on the next stable object. Everything was going up and down which had a dizzing affect on him and the estimates of the distance he needed to breach the gap. Finally a hand brushed his and he latched on to the sweet sweet hand of the woman who was an angel to him. "Why me~" he whimpered latching tightly to Crystal's hand as his weak nature could allow. "DON'T LET GO!!!"

Dark Carnival giggled, "You want him back? You can...HAVE HIM." It screeched, flinging Degas roughly into the circleing bodyguards. The child made another shriek, what sounded like Carnival music playing from the ball beneath It. "La la lalala la la lala. La la lalala la la lala~" It sung, pulling out what seemed like a harmless white cloth from it's sleeves. "LA lala la la LA lala la la..."
Ment cried, pushing through the people surrounding the Scent and right past the guards to where it was, jumping and reaching for the glass vial in its hands. "Give her back!!!"

Skie took the handkerchief and nodded her thanks then blinked as the merchant suddenly moved off. "You've forgotten you're handkerchief...." She held a hand out, frowning.
Receiving no answer she turned her attention to the cut and wrapped the cloth around her hand. What was going on? The question kept running around her mind, demanding an answer. And so, left alone, she went in search of those answers, trailing after the merchant.
Despite herself, she was curious.

Crystal was roughly yanked as the Carnival child threw Degas from the ball. She lost her footing momentarily from the motion, flinging her weight down to catch the boy safely on top of her as she fell hard onto her back. She uttered a soft noise as the air left her body, leaving her dazed. The woman had enough presence to look at the boy in her arms, murmuring, "Are you all right, young Lord?" before spots of darkness swam in front of her eyes.
Closing her grey orbs for a moment, she simply held the boy, laying perfectly still. The pain had found her, making her head spin with the insane sound of the child's babbled carnival music.

This child was nothing but chaos. Sati shook her head disapprovingly, silently watching with crossed arms. If she thought her guards were quick enough, she'd try a honeypot, luring in the child with riches like a fly stuck in honey, but she had the feeling the slick child would quickly escape. So this was a game of wits, then.
Her resolve crumbled a bit as she saw the charming child from before, begging for the glass vial from the carnival-child. Poor thing; what destruction ill-behaved children sowed upon the good ones! Sati frowned, leaning back. They'd have to act soon. She rummaged through a pouch hidden on her thigh, under her sari.
She pulled out a fist-sized gem and palmed it, waiting for a better moment.
