misakyra I don't watch much TV at all, so I don't have a whole lot to add. But the one episode of House that I did see featured a pregnant twelve year old. She was sick, and no one could figure out why until it came out that she had just gotten her period and was pregnant. House gave her an abortion in the end, and refused to tell her parents what was really wrong with her. When they questioned him, he said that she had "an abnormal growth in her abdomen". rofl I thought it was a good episode, and I wish I could have seen more of the show. If only I could afford to get it on DVD... As far as the episode that is being discussed here, I have to reserve judgement until I see it, but yeah, it sounds like they're trying to play to people's emotions with the whole "save the cute wittle baby" routine. But if the patient wanted to do everything she could to save the baby, that's her choice, isn't it? It's not the choice I would have made, but still. But House wasn't necessarily pro-choice. He gave the girl a guilt trip, if I remember correctly. He made her feel really, really bad.

Indeed he did, but from what I've gleaned from the series, he does that to all his patients, as well as his coworkers.
So no, he didn't really give her a choice. Frankly, seeing pro-life BS on TV doesn't surprise me in the least. I'm way more surprised by the random moments of logic that occasionally present themselves.

He seemed especially hard on her. But maybe that's just me.
And the logic was why I watched House! I like the character. (I missed it yesterday!)

I remember that episode. She had to have an abortion 'cause she was going to have serious problems if she kept it. Which isn't much of a choice, y'know, die or abort, but still. And she didn't want him to tell her parents, so he didn't, but she ended up telling them anyway.
adabyron: Yeah, that's the episode I was thinking of, I haven't seen the one the OP brought up 'cause House has only just started up again back here.

Actually, it WAS close enough to birth to be considered a baby, but I think it's more the fact that he realized that A) He's now an old fart. B) He's in NO relationships. C) He longs for family. D) It probably hit him that the fetus was sentient enough to grab his hand.
Or he had too much Vicodin.>> God I want some. Hobag.

Madame L. Has anyone seen that show by the name of House? Well, I've only watched it once, and, guess what!
It was the episode where this woman is pregnant, doesn't want an abortion, and the baby's killing her by shutting down her organs and such. However, the doctor (House) says to have an abortion, and the woman insists on having it. Then, House's boss, a woman who is around the same age as the dying woman, wants the dying woman to carry through with the pregnancy. House insists, at the beginning that the fetus is just a "fetus," and never calls it a "baby" or a "child."
However, when surgery time comes around and he sees the baby's hand, he suddenly decides that this is a baby and not a fetus.
rolleyes
EDIT:: I know that they respected the woman's choice, but I'm not upset at the woman's choice. I'm upset with the fact that just because House sees a hand or two, he thinks it's a 'baby' and not a 'fetus.' well, it was a pretty disturbing episode 2. but can you see why that would make him think that??? i could. anyhoo I LOVE THAT SHOW!!!!!!

So this is what had my boyfriend in a tizzy fit. Go figure. I swear, sometimes he's more pro-choice than I am xd
I haven't seen the episode, but from what I gathered, they just ******** House's character up the a** big time. Especially considering how he usually treats his patients and such.
Another show I need to avoid, it seems.

Sol_Lunarena D) It probably hit him that the fetus was sentient enough to grab his hand. Snopes has already debunked it. There's a link somewhere in this thread...

I was dissapointed with that episode myself. But, god, I love house.
I just find it ironic given the other barriers they've crossed. Including Foreman telling the brother and sister (who didnt' know they were brother and siste) who were engaged that - hey - if they loved each other who gave a s**t about genetics.
Um. They didn't end up staying together. The girl was too freaked out by it. But the fact that it was portrayed so open mindedly was fascinating. Given how most shows act to beyond-the-ordinary House usually is pretty decent.
But that episode was just retarded.
