Ugu, on his way back to Soul Society, came upon an interesting scene. One of his students, whose name was Tsai, was fighting a Hollow. Or, at least, the elder shinigami thought it was a hollow. The elder shinigami squinted to see the hollow's faded and camouflaged body.
His eyebrows scrunched together as he continued to watch the young shinigami fight. Tsai seemed to be calculating and intelligent, as per usual, with his fighting style. He didn't seem to be panicking and the hollow didn't seem to be doing any higher-formed tricks. But, by the way Tsai was hurt and the way the younger shinigami was breathing, Ugu could tell that the battle would end soon. Most probably in favour of the shinigami.
The man refused to jump in, though. Not till Tsai had either beaten the hollow or till he saw it was absolutely necessary. Tsai Lin would never learn if teachers just swooped in from above and never let him develop. Plus.. It would be fun to watch Tsai fight a hollow.

The hollow snarled after the hit to it's chest but managed to instinctively move forward. It's claws were spent covered by mud and whatever the ground carried under it's wet exterior.
It looked at Tsai who also seemed tired from fighting. The hollow was hit now, it's camoflauge faded again. It twitched and attacked.

Tsai was exhausted from the blood loss and the constant movement and stress he endured fighting this hollow. "Damn.." was the last thing he would say before he was hit by the hollow.
"Heh...miscaculated my own strengths..

Tsai fell to his knees. He was exhausted and was kind of dizzy and felt the wind knocked out of him as well. The blood drizzled down his gi onto the mud. "s**t.." he fell flat on his face, not dead but exhausted. "Am I going to die? Die? No... I won't..." he thought strugglng to get up his eyes lit up but he had no more strength in his body. "Move, I can still fight!!" he would say to his body. The hollow was about to strike when..

's**t,' the man exclaimed inside his mind. Speeding forward from his hiding place he drew out his zanapakutou from its sheath. A flash of light burst from his sword as it fled the holding contours of the wooden sheath. "Taisha- Egeus!" Within a second the man was in front of the hollow's fearsome claws- holding it back with a savage-looking longsword.

Before a moment was gone the giant swung his Shikai at the monster's muddied mask. And, as he swung his sword up at the devil's mask, he let out the prime ability of his released sword. "Chishio Sakurifaisu [Blood Sacrifice]," he said, quite calmly, as he attempted to suck the monster dry of its putrid blood. With both attacks happening at the same time, and his flowing counterattack, the lone black (or brown?) hollow would find retreating an impossible option.

The hollow did not see such a powerful shinigami coming out of nowhere. "What the?" it said trying to escape but failing to dodge the shinigami's attacks.

"Zenmaru.. I mean Ugu-sensei.." he managed to say as he lifted himself up barely able to stand. "Thanks," he said bowing down, blood continued to drizzle down his gi. "But if you don't mind.. I have a favor to ask, can you bring me to the ward?" he asked. It felt weird for him to ask something like that but he felt wobbly with his feet almost like he overtrained.

Ugu turned to look at the young shinigami. Egeus soon shrunk back to its normal size and he slid it back into its sheath. "Wouldn't you prefer me to seal up your wounds right now? They don't seem to be heavy, and most of the scratches on you seem to be only from claws. I might need to cleanse some of the cuts since there seems to be a rather abundant amount of mud in them." His lime eyes continued to look at Tsai from his height of 7'1".
His eyebrows un-scrunched themselves as he looked at the banged up student. ".. And pray tell.. Why are you fighting Hollows alone? You haven't even had a lesson on hollow-tactics, aside from our little field trip a while back."

Tsai turned away. "I wanted to get more information on them so I could be ahead of the game.. and I wanted to challenge myself more.. so that I can one day do more research on these menos people have been talking about in the textbooks," he muttered. "Sorry, for my irrational behaviour," he bowed.
"Healing would be nice, as well, thank you.."
