Fast forward to the middle of October. Mala, xane, Yaten, Gundam Nook, and a bunch of other #anime-cel people were yapping as per usual and Yaten said we should join Gaia. Well, lucky me, I already had an account (in peasant clothes of course). There were NO threads in the a/m/c about anime cels, so Keys made a thread and we ALL hung in there. xd Mala wandered off to the anti-sticky, but one day out of boredom, we decided to invade the anti-sticky just to pester Mala.

Sadly, the original "Anime Cels, Anyone?" thread was eaten by the archiver and the 2nd died after we made the Anime Cel guild (which is pretty much also dead now).

Trebbu needs to figure out his password and give me his AFK. And Yaten just needs to come back. scream emo

Nabs pretty much told my story with her own. 3nodding Yaten started encouraging the #anime-cel regulars to join Gaia in October 2003 and I dutifully went and signed up.

I didn't know what I was doing and was really frustrated. I was nekkid for a few days before I even discovered I had peasant clothes! A few people took pity on me and donated clothes here and there. If it wasn't for the help, I don't think I would have kept coming back to Gaia. sweatdrop

I said it was ridiculous to give real money to any internet website and I wasn't doing it! What an idiot I was...I could have had a bear hat! stressed

Mala and yaten used to talk about anti-something-or-other and being sexy pineapples. ~LOL~ I just figured it was some kind of weird cult thing.

It seems like everyone I know joined the Anti-Guild and Nabs and Mala finally convinced me to join about a year ago. And here I am. smile

This is my first avatar, with the first clothes I bought myself:

Keys? That's me! Oh, those were the good old days. Then my life got really busy.

Then in one of my ludicrous LJ posts, someone was like "hey, you're makyoku! come back to Gaia" ...well actually that happened several times but every time I tried to go back to go-gaia.com, I couldn't get the site to load. Then since I suppose the time was right, I took the next step and actually searched with google for Gaia's new address. ...and here I am. AG was talked about much in the HareStyles thread and I first came over here for HP7 talk.

This is the first avatar I posted to my LJ. I have always loved the pumpkin stump and for whatever reason liked the phat shirts with no pants and will forever love the goth boots.:

Actually I had heard about it earlier in Aimee's LJ whenever they introduced doll ears and she was showing off her avatar with them. I didn't feel much impetus to join at the time though until the big #anime-cel group-join.

I admit. I was another neopets nub. emo

Sooo liekz. I was another one of those anime/manga kiddies on neopets, and I met some friends thar. (Namely "Herr Astro".) After a while, they started to talk about Gaia, so I checked it out. After I joined, I was an AMCer for a while, but decided to stop going there and ran off the the CB. (Nice transition huh?)

As for the guild, I met Shouj on neopets one day when Gaia was under maintenance or something. XD I think there was a dubs vs subs argument going on and Shouj and I were lol'ing and she invited me to AG. :D

Then Stream tried to eat me, but I successfully ran away. 4laugh

So I heard about Gaia from...a snark site, actually. I grant that some of you are familiar with Fandom Wank?

Back in its early-ish Journalfen days, I used to see Gaia get mentioned a lot. And it kind of interested me, because, hey, I liked dramatics even if it was on kind of a girly site. So I decided to go check the site out, and I registered for it, not expecting to stay here for too long. I ran around like a noob acting the fool in AMC and eventually the AG regulars took pity on me. (I'm not quite one of the first AGers, though I'm fairly close. Like, I believe Baku was still around when I started hanging around the Anti-Sticky when it was ACTUALLY IN THE AMC. scream )

Four years later, and I'm still on Gaia and in the AG. It's changed a lot now; the site definitely caters more to teenagers than it does to young adults (which is what I think it aimed for before), and when I joined it was in the midst of that transformation. On the other hand, I take it that Cynder still hits on everything that has two legs and some things that don't. (Including myself. I...ah...have a third leg. redface ) I've been through Q&F (before the split into Q&A and F), helped run the GEN for a bit, and now I just celebrate "retirement," if you will, in the Ragnarok forum.

Wow, apparently I missed this thread. I really should check out the AG more. sweatdrop

So, a random friend I had on msn around five and a half years ago started talking to me about an awesome site called GaiaOnline where users had the option to create wonderful avatars cosplaying various Anime characters or characters which were fully customizable.

Half a year later I stumbled accidentally on Gaia and decided to create an account for the hell of it, back them my main interests were Anime and Manga and the merchandise connected to them so I eventually got into the AMC.

Now, we all know what kind of an idiot I was when I first joined Gaia so naturally I got into a lot of trouble with regulars, Stream, Kenny and even some moderators but eventually I learned from my mistakes and actually started being somewhat of a user that knows what they're talking about.

To say the least, I'm amazed I'm still here after almost 5 years on this site, things have changed a lot and as Phoenix said Gaia doesn't appear to have the same age group they are aiming for as back then.

Regardless of this all, these past 5 years have been a blast on Gaia where I made a lot of friends and even got as far as making it to a mod. (Surprising, I know)
I guess I owe a lot of the people in the AMC a thanks for that, as I owe a thanks to Phoe, WJ, Zero Rosa and Kansai for showing me the way, sort of.
