Lab Visit II
It was some time in the middle of the night that the odd feeling hit Louis, square in the gut like a rush of hot water and a slap on the back. Aolou was calling to him; it was time. Time for what, exactly, he wasn't certain, but he knew all of his toughening up mentally and physically was all leading up to this. He didn't know how it would happen, and just what he would see, but Aolou was about to come to life.
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" Louis shouted, running down the hallway as fast as his little legs would carry him.
Anne was already sitting on the edge of her bed, rubbing her eyes. "Louis, what happened? What's wrong?" She mumbled, slowly waking up.
Already impatient with her, Louis grabbed her arm and began tugging on it. "Mommy, it's Aolou! Aolou's ready mommy! We gotta go see! We gotta go see now!!" He insisted, pulling her into a standing position. Tugging with all his might, Louis managed to force Anne to stumble out of her room, down the stairs, through the kitchen to grab her car keys, and to the car.
It was only a ten minute drive to the Faction, but Louis fidgeted and squirmed and nagged and squirmed some more the entire way. A strong, fizzling feeling all over his body began half-way there, and it grew only stronger the closer they got to the Faction. By the time they were inside, moving down the starkly lit hallways as quickly as Louis could pull Anne along, Louis felt as though he was some sort of great big electrical conductor, as though every nerve and fiber was alive with sparkling electricity. He expected to be glowing, but he wasn't.
When the door of Aolou's holding room came into sight, Louis became so excited her couldn't wait for Anne to drag her slippers to the door; he let go of her hand and he ran, bursting into the room just in time to see...
...he was beautiful. He was everything Louis had hoped for. The moment Louis entered the room, he'd come crashing out of his tank, spilling liquid everywhere and stomping his newly formed webbed hands on the ground, attempting to get his bearings.
Louis rushed forward, forgetting the Chimera Technician's warning of the electrical currents Aolou held, and threw his arms around the confused-looking beast's neck.
"Aolou..." Louis whispered, closing his eyes tight and listening to the sounds of the creature's heavy, animalistic panting. "We can be strong now, Aolou,"
