Those words made Deimos' heart flutter, made tears that he couldn't shed burn in the corners of his eyes. Resting his head on Alexander's neck, he whispered back, "I'm glad you're with me too . . . "
Deimos knew than that nothing, not his sister, not hell on earth, not even death, could separate them now. They were brothers; they were one.
"Ander . . . don't ever leave me. Please . . . " he murmured, equally as soft. He couldn't finish the rest; that he didn't think he'd be able to live without Alexander. Not anymore. Some would see that as a weakness, and use it against him. But he couldn't help it. It was the truth.

Alexander’s spirit soared with the words Deimos offered. He wasn’t just making it up, Deimos actually DID like him just as much! Alexander almost yipped for joy, but in the end was able to contain himself. And what a better wolf to have this camaraderie with? Deimos. He was smart, fun, AND strong. Plus, he was kind, at least to Alexander. Usually that couldn’t be found all in one package. Alexander was lucky. Dei was definitely someone he could depend on; trust his life with even.
The navy wolf pranced about in a small circle. “I won’t leave you,” he stated simply, stopping in front of the fiery red. He looked into Deimos’ face for a moment before glancing elsewhere. “Even when we’re apart, I’ll be with you,” he promised, letting out a long, friendly howl.
“But besides that…” Alexander spouted, jumping about once more. His tail curled over his back once more – not to be dominant, but just because that’s where it felt most comfortable. Alexander felt ready for anything in this stance. “Now that the pack is mostly figured out, we need to keep our eyes and ears open for good lands and good members, right?”

"Right," Deimos agreed, the grin never leaving his face.
They were actually going to do this . . . They were going to make a pack; they were going to have a family.
Licking his now mostly closed wound, the fiery red male glanced up, looking in every direction, his tail also curled along his back, because like Alexander, it felt natural to have it there. Nose quivering as it took in all of the scents around him, he picked a direction.
"I guess we have to part ways for a little bit again, huh?" The concept honestly scared him, because Moirai was still out there. But they would cover more ground if they split up. Finally getting to his feet, he winced at the slight pull on his wounded belly. But, it would be fine if he took things easy.
Stepping forward to nuzzle his comrade, Deimos gave him a soft woof. "Be careful."

Alexander winced. He knew Deimos was going to say that. The logical alpha part of his brain reminded him that the red wolf was right; they should split up. However, the worried friend part told him not to let Deimos go. Well, maybe if he just stayed nearby? Yes, that might work. Alexander hesitantly decided he would stay within hearing range of Deimos’ howl, just in case his friend needed help.
Accepting the nuzzle, Alexander returned Dei’s affection. He licked gently around the other’s mouth and nose, trying to reassure the red that everything would be okay. “More like you be careful,” Alexander finally said, stepping back and looking him in the eyes. “If you need help, just call me okay? I’ll always be nearby. I know your scent, and I won’t lose it.” Alexander snorted, frustrated by the situation. His ears twitched nervously.
“But don’t worry, we’ll see each other soon. And then, we’ll have a pack.”

Smiling, Deimos dipped his head to his friend. They wouldn't be apart for long. And like Alexander said, they would never be more than hearing distance apart. He had nothing to worry about.
Or so he hoped.
Tail waving like a banner in a breeze, he snorted with a toss of his head, then whirled around. He looked back over his shoulder and grinned like he used to when he was a puppy, winking at his friend.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
Then he was off, his paws carrying him from Alexander's sight in less than a heart beat.
Everything would be okay. It had to be.
