She was soothed again and this time when Rokopelli brightened, the emotion seemed to last. "Don't worry Koya. We don't think mother would hurt us anymore anyways, she's probably far too busy." She bounced. "That means we get to play all we want!"

"We will try very, very, very, very, very hard! We promise!" There was so much joy and expectation in her voice that it was hard to believe her enthusiasm could take another downfall. It seemed meeting with Koya and having her not freak out at her had boosted her confidence in herself. Her thoughts turned to her friends and to playing games in the sunshine. Her heart swelled. "We will make up with Nyoka first then we'll go on and make lots of other friends! You should meet Nyoka sometime Koya, maybe you can cheer him up too." She giggled at the thought of her serpent companion being jolly and happy. "Will you be friend number two on our list, Koya?" She queried, flapping her wings. "We would be very happy if you would say yes! Maybe we could meet up and play and fly and sing and...stoof." She wrinkled her little nose and looked extremely pleased with her to-do list.

At the silver one's final words Rokopelli almost felt choked up, the skin on her face warmed with embarrasment at the compliment and she seemed almost lost for words.

Almost.

"But...Koya. To be with the mortal lionses...how do we hide our wings like the other Gods do? We can't...We can't figure it out. Are we broken?"

A great sense of relief and excitement came over the silver goddess as Rokopelli seemed completely turned around. She wasn't scared or nervous or anything of that sort anymore. She was completely bubbly and energetic. Koya felt proud to think that she had been the reason for some of those changes.

"Yes, far too busy. You are free to do as you wish now, Rokopelli," she spoke, smiling. "You can enjoy life and you can make so many friends.."

The larger female almost lost herself in the good feelings. It was contagious, wanting to smile and prance about and make some new friends. It had been so long since she had been so young and able to just enjoy things. She could hardly remember a time when she actually did have fun.

Smiling down at Rokopelli, she wished so much to be able to go back in time to when her worries were dismal, almost nonexistant. "Maybe I'll go with you one of these times. But you should make up with Nyoka frist, and I wouldn't want to ruin it for the two of you," she said, nuzzling her. The fight had been between the two of them, and it hadn't involved Koya. Thus, she wouldn't force herself into their issues. Besides, she felt that Rokopelli could handle herself well enough when the time came for it.

"Oh, of course I'll be friend number two!" she said happily, really meaning what she said. Her eyes brimmed with affection and hope. Perhaps her life wasn't so lonely and full of nothing as she had thought it was. There was still time to change.

When Rokopelli asked about the illusion trick, she blinked for a moment. She hardly remembered how to work it. It was all second nature to her now, and even then it wasn't so successful as it could be. It was a side effect of not using it often enough to improve at it.

"Well, to tell you the truth, I'm not quite sure. I can do it, but I don't think about it. No, no, you aren't broken, dear." She thought for a moment, wondering how on earth she managed the illusion. "Try to relax, just think about it. But don't force it. Let it come to you..." she paused again, thinking more. "I'm sorry if this doesn't work.. I'm just not very good at it as it is," she admitted.

Her head whirled and as Koya spoke she imagined herself standing in the center of a cirlcle of lions. Yet these lions weren't bad or mean, they had smiles and looked happy. Friends. She turned her head towards the Goddess and reared back again on her hind legs, curling her forepaws against her white chest.

The egytian styled goddess spread up her long pointed wings, suddenly looking like one of those statues found in an ancient, lost tomb. "How will we find you again Koya?" She asked with a small tilt of her head. "We mean...we could try and touch your mind, but some lions don't like it and I promised never to do it without permission." Despite being afraid of her powers, being able to speak long distances just by thinking was something she adored and so long as she didn't get carried away it was perfectly safe. She leaned into the silver one's nuzzle and felt something akin to a connection. Perhaps somehow Roko had been swapped at birth and now she was face to face with her real mother! She knew it was a silly thought but it was always comforting. Maybe she'd secretly have Koya as a mother! Her wide smile widened further.

"Just think about it?" She continued. Thinking came difficult for this little one, but surprisingly she found focusing much easier when she was happy. In her depressed state she found it almost possibly to work any of her powers. She leaped backwards and stood square on the ground, all four paws rested firmly against the well-packed earth. Then with a deep breath she lowered her head and relaxed. Her tail that hadbeen hovering in the air came to rest by her hind paws and suddenly she seemed to enter a trance.

Again that strange bubble of light encased her, wobbling and shimmering under the sun as if it was indeed made from soapy water. Then when the light died before Koya stood a little cub.

She was surprisingly plain in appearance, smooth tan fur with white paws and chest. There was no jewellery about her form, no strange black, braided her. And best of all, no wings. Yet it was definately still Rokopelli. The eye of horus was still imprinted on her hindquarters and her bi-coloured eyes still retained an unusual shine.

"Did it work?" She asked Koya.

Koya listened quietly to the smaller female, her tail flicking every once in a while. "Well, if you need permission then I give it to you," she smiled. "I want to always be available to you." She purred slightly and nuzzled Rokopelli, feeling like a mother with her cub. She missed being a mother dearly. Would she ever get to really experience it again?

Nodding, she watched silently as the other goddess attempted to create the illusion around her wings that was the standard power for any god. She wondered if that had been intentional. Did the early creators have things to hide and so they allowed the gods to hide their wings, thus hiding their true selves? It was all a mystery, so she tried not to worry her mind with things like that. Instead, she focused on helping Rokopelli.

She blinked slightly when a bubble surrounded the cub. She panicked for a moment, thinking this was something different. But she stilled herself and her racing heart as she noticed that Rokopelli was changing. Just moments passed, and it appeared like an almost completely different cub stood in front of her.

"I believe it did, dear," she smiled again, proud of the cub. "I can tell it is you, but you do not look like a goddess now. Any stranger passing you by would think you're just another cub."

She wondered now what Rokopelli would do. She could create the illusion, so would she go down to the mortal world and try to live as a mortal?

"Oh, dear," she spoke, remembering something. "You have to kind of concentrate when you want to hold the illusion. It only stays if you make it, and normally it begins to fade when more and more mortals are around you." Koya never quite understood that. Why should the number of individuals around a person affect how well their illusion worked? It seemed all rather unfair. But she had warned Rokopelli, so she felt slightly at ease and dropped her musings.

"Well.. what will you do now?"

Rokopelli's eyes twinkled with joy and now wingless and free of her jewellery she did indeed look quite normal. She bounded forwards again and rubbed up against Koya's tummy, purring loudly as she did so. She wasn't aware of how different she looked but her body tingled as if she was changed. She paused and turned her head up to glance at the adult.

"Yay! This will be fun~" She giggled. "Now we can talk to you anytime!" She bounced. Making friends was good, especially trusting ones and somehow she knew that Koya would be a friend for life.

She bounced forwards, twirled lightly on her paws and turned her mind on what she was going to do. She needed a plan, a good plan! As Koya gave her warning almost immediately the illusion failed and her wings and jewellery returned. Somehow she had looked naked without them, as if she was missing a part of her.

"We'll go to the jungle and find Nyoka." She swung a forepaw out in front of her and sidestepped neatly. "Then we'll go all over the world and make friends! We'll hide our wings and be normal so that no one is afraid." She beamed, spreading up her wings so that they arched above her head.

"Then when we get bigger we'll come back and see you and you can use your powers on us." She had decided that it would be best to have her past revealed to her when she was a little older and had more control over herself. That was if Koya would show her, of course.

Koya beamed delightfully as Rokopelli was definitely in a better mood than she had been before. Had that all been her own doing? It had been so long since she had ever really talked with anyone, and so she was unused to socializing and noticing different things in an interaction. But whatever caused the change, she was glad it had happened. No child deserved to be miserable.

"Yes, just call me any time you want," she said softly, her blue eyes sparkling with pride. Such a different cub stood in front of her that it was almost impossible to think that this Rokopelli and the one before were the same.

Nodding as she was told where the smaller goddess would go, she sat herself down. "That sounds like a good idea," she spoke. If Nyoka was the first friend to Rokopelli--and very important to her if the silver goddess knew anything--then it was imperative for her to patch the rough spots in their friendship.

Sitting there, watching the young cub, Koya couldn't help but wonder if she had been like that at that age, or if perhaps she had been different. But it was too long ago, she couldn't remember anything about it. The memories of her life had been replaced with the memories of others.

"You make all the friends in the world," she purred, coming out of her thoughts. "I'll always be waiting for you. And if you so wish me to, then I will look into your past and reveal it to you. It's the least I can do."

Rokopelli closed her eyes and reached inwards for her power. It took her a moment to find it's source, a ball of energy deep within her body...her soul. She prodded it and reached out to embrace it, purring as she felt it's warmth succumb her.

"Then we will! We'll come and see you again and we'll bring Nyoka too! We're sure you can cheer him up Koya, we're sure!" If not she could always...brainwash him. She giggled at the thought but threw it away for that was something she could never do, even if she had wanted to. Poor Nyoka went through so much already.

Rokopelli nodded then and reared up on her hind legs, spreading her arching wings wide. She seemed fond of doing that, as if she was preparing to have her picture painted. "We will Koya! We will try our very, very best and then we'll come and share them with you so we have lots of friends together." She smiled then and nodded furilously. "Yes, yes. We'd like you to see our past...when we're a bit older. We want to know about our mother, about our punishment and why...why we did what we did." Her smile faded - but only for a few seconds.

Then she was up, floating high up into the sky. She paused about two meters in the air and peered down at the silver Goddess.

What she saw standing there was something more than a friend. Something much more. Rokopelli felt warm and comfortable and in Koya's eyes she saw home. Koya....Koya felt like a mother should.

She waved out one white-tipped paw and then whirled around on herself, heading out across the lands. Then again she reached for that power, absorbed it and cast her vibrantly glowing eyes back.

~Goodbye Koya. Goodbye.~ And her voice floated through the other's mind, filling it with a strange but comforting warmth.
