The copper cub shrugged, knowing better than to react otherwise. "I don't wanna die," She said simply. Which she knew she might, if she weren't so wary. But perhaps they were right. She could do with being more easygoing once in a while. It wasn't something that came naturally to her though. She knew things they didn't, and obviously she acted according to what she knew without quite thinking about it.

"The water hole?" She echoed. "Why would we want to go to the water hole?" The cub blinked. She loved the water hole, sure, but it didn't quite seem like an interesting place to be, what with the rest of the land unexplored.

Giggling a little, but catching it before it went to all out bawling, the older cub smiled reassuringly to Zu. "I'll make sure you don't die, 'kay? Just like... take the day off from being worried or something. It'll be fun!" Intombi really didn't understand why any cub would think about such a morbid thing as death, but then again, she was probablly one step below the tan Pridelander on the maturity ladder. In her naive nature, she was absolutely positive she'd live to be older than her mother currently was without a problem. Nothing in the world could possibley have malicous intent. The savannah was all flowers and butterflies.

The watering hole sounded like a perfectly good idea to Intombi, but apparently not to one member of the newly formed party. She really didn't mind where they went, so she'd leave it up to the sisters to decide. "Well, I don't mind either way. Just... let's not STAND here all day, y'know?" She jumped off the ground a few times, showing her need to move. "Let's go somewhere. Anywhere is cool by me."

When Zu undermined her suggestion and spoke in that tone that let Safuma know she didn't agree, the cub winced before sighing, "It's just a good starting point. And I'm thirsty." She looked to Intombi, tilting her head before taking a few steps in the right direction and looking over her shoulder, "Well, c'mon, then." The watering hole wasn't too far off, but Safuma was thirsty and it was making her just as impatient as Intombi to get going.

Looking at her sister, she smiled before letting her eyes move to Intombi, "I'll race you guys there?" And before the words were even completely out of her mouth, she tore off into the high savannah grasses. She knew that Intombi would keep up easily and probably overcome her, and that Zu knew where the watering hole was. They were in no danger of losing each other, but Safuma kept her ears pinned back to listen to their progress nevertheless.

Mzuza rolled her eyes with a wry smile. "Well, I know I'm not gonna die!" She said, making sure to emphasis the last word. "I'm just saying, there are plenty more places to go around the Pride Lands that are perfectly safe and much more fun. Besides, if Saf dies then I'm the one who has to listen to Ma and Pa mourning for the rest of my life, see!" She giggled and shook her head. Saf dying, indeed! She swished her tail happily.

"Wh-Hey!" She complained as Saf shot off through the grasses. "Cheater!" She reacted instantly, leaping forward and stretching out her strides to try to make up the ground lost to her sister's sudden bolting. "I know short cuts, you know!" She yelled toward her sister, although it was hard to believe that Saf would believe the bluff.

Intombi hardly had time to digest what had just happened before the race was on. She stood there dumbly for a few seconds, trying to get everything unjumbled in her brain. These two were bipolar, that was the only possible explaination. At least it was entertaining. With that last thought, she bounded after the pair, her strides longer and easier. She had yet to master a lioness's graceful lope, but she was closer to it than she had been as a younger cub. Her proportions were less awkward, and she had had time to practice this. Some day, she'd look just as powerful and beautiful as her mother did while she was on the hunt. The juvenile could only hope.

She was a little worried when she hadn't found Mzuza, having figured that she would've caught up to the tan cub first, but grew more relazed when she saw the golden hide of Safuma. Perhaps Zu had really used one of those short cuts; that or she just blended in with her surroundings. "I'm gunna get'cha!" She yelled out after the Pridelander and put more effort into her sprint, charging full speed towards the other female and the watering hole.

Safuma's crimson eyes widened, hearing Intombi's approach long before the older cub yelled after her. She had laughed at Zu's faint protests, but Intombi was close enough that it was no laughing matter. Pinning her ears back, she pressed her muscles to move quicker and propel herself further with each stride. She could just make out the huge tree at the watering hole (that was really quite small, but as a cub, her proportions were slightly exaggerated). So close.

She couldn't have predicted what happened next. Within sight of the refreshing pool, her paw caught on a boulder about the size of her head that she had attempted to leap over. The little cub went tumbling, tail over head all the way down until the splashed into the pool.

((I'm not even gonna try to explain how she got to the water-hole first. rolleyes Probably one of her 'magic tricks'. Although, who knows? xD))

Mzuza crouched very still beside the tall tree. Perhaps they wouldn't see her if she was very, very still? She watched with a quiet giggle to herself as Safuma tumbled over the boulder and landed with a splash into the water. Quick as a flash, the copper cub leaped into the water after her sister. She laughed happily as the water squirted up from underpaw.

She looked up in time to see Intombi coming nearer, and took the time to admire how much more graceful the older lion's strides were than Saf's and her own. She pictured the way cubs ran, their little rumps bobbing as they half ran half tripped along in play. Someday she'd grow up and learn to run like Intombi and Momma did. That was for sure.

Intombi never thought she would be dead last to the water hole. It wasn't exactly logical; her legs were longer than Saf and Zu's. what was even more confusing was how the little tan speedster had gotten around BOTH herself and her sister and reached the water without even being noticed. Pulling up to a stop on the bank, she lightly stepped in to her ankles and watched the sisters as the wrestled. She distinctly remembered doing the same thing with a bright yellow cub when she was as small as them, back before her fear of water had settled in. Now, she was a wreck when she was in above her knees. Sitting by the cool liquid to groom caused no issues, but being in the water was an entirely different story. Lions can drown.

Besides the obvious feline aversion to water, Intombi had suffered a rather bad experiance at her own watering hole one day. She had ben attempting to float on her back, as her friend Noyana had, and well... it didn't go over to well. After a vigorous fight with the water to breathe, she sprinted home, never to swim again. So there she stood, hardly in, giggling as she watched the Pridelanders play. She was perfectly content just sitting there until they decided where to go next.

She lifted her head from the water, giving a laughing gasp for air as she coughed out the water she had inhaled in the tumble. It was nothing to fret over, and the cub continued as if she had reached the water hole quite normally. The water birds had been scared away, but Safuma didn't mind as she splashed her sister. Leaning forward on her outstreched paws in a playbow, her tail lashed the air as her bright eyes watched the water dance beneath her nose.

Turning her head from the water first to Mzuza and then to Intombi, she leapt up suddenly and went bounding after Intombi, leaping the long distance to wrap a paw partway around the older cub's back and give her a playful n** to the hip. "She beat us. I dunno how!"

((xD I think Saf's gunna turn out to be Zu's favorite sibling xD She's so cute!))

"Hah! Well, wouldn't you two like to know?" Mzuza said in the most pompous and arrogant voice she could manage, pulling herself up to stand absolutely straight and puffing out her chest as if she were overly proud of herself. Seriously, she had seen young lions do this when they tried to impress each other when they had nothing to do. Frankly, it had all seemed quite pathetic to her.

She followed Saf to the shallows, where she proceeded to lower her copper colored rump into the water, the tip of her tail floating along at the top. She liked the feeling of being partway in the water and partway out. The water sent a gentle tingle down her spine, while the cool of the air sent just the opposite feeling into her. It was almost like an oxymoron of feelings. And it was interesting, indeed.

Intombi giggled and nipped at Saf's ear playfully. Wrestling a bit was something she hadn't done in a while. There wasn't much company out in the rogue lands, and most of those she met were adults who didn't like playing around much. Especially the leopardess she had run into. None of that mattered at that moment, though. Intombi was quite happy to just play around in the shallows with the two Pridelanders until dusk, if they lasted that long.

"Where'd you go, anyway, Zu? It was a nifty trick." She meant it, too. It seemed that every Pridelander she met had some little trick up their sleeve. Not the jealous type, however, the only thing on her mind was interest. Noyama could do back flips, Zu could find short cuts... What could Saf do?
PostPosted: Thu May 24, 2007 5:16 pm

As far as Safuma knew, she was a completely normal cub. She had no nifty tricks like Mzuza did, but at the same time she didn't really take note that Zu had done anything that she should be jealous of. As of yet, Saf had not learned the true turmoil of such an emotion in regards to anyone but the heirs. Splashing through the water, she let her cub teeth drag harmlessly across Intombi's darker coat.

When the older cub spoke, she slid off to look from Intombi to Zu, "She's sneaky." She grinned, "Or magic." The cub had some idea of Zu's obsession with magic, though Saf never definitively passed judgement on the idea. She would let her sister believe what she wanted.

"Well I tell you it's magic," She said slowly. "But you're probably not going to believe me." She had simply gotten used to the fact that she had been born believing something that all - or most - others thought to be bull. They didn't think magic believed, and that was that. She wasn't going to force anyone or anything to even come close to accepting the magic, so she had simply learned to cope with unbelievers.

In truth, she didn't quite know what she had done herself. She couldn't, really. One moment she was there and the next she was somewhere else. Perhaps it really was her magic, or perhaps she had simply turned the wrong way and came out lucky. Either way, she chose to believe in the magic.

Magic was something the juve had never subscribed to, and so it sort of went over her head when Zu mentioned it. The lioness lacked faith in the mystical; she hadn't a clue anything beyond her understanding existed, and that's the way things were. She wasn't about to push this on a friend, however, and left the topic alone. Instead, she simply shrugged. "Well, however you did it, it was neat." She smiled warmly and left it at that. Don't get me wrong, Intombi was no sceptic... but she wasn't a dreamer, either. She followed the realistic way of life, and anything that didn't come about due to a natural reason just didn't work for her logically.

Letting her mind wander for a few moments, she found herself staring at the giant rock in the center of the Pridelands. Suddenly, she remembered she was with two younger cubs. She had gotten the idea that pride lionesses were more protective of their young, and so assumed they had a curfew. She had had a very loose one at their age, but she was a rogue. "Do you two need to be getting back to the den anytime?"

Safuma didn't make to disagree with her sister. As stated, she would do nothing to discourage her sister's whims. If Zu believed in magic, Safuma would let her go on believing in magic. It wasn't that it wasn't any of her business - Zu was her sister and littermate after all - but rather that Saf would try her best to support any family member's wild ideas, especially Zu. Grinning broadly at her sister, she batted a wet paw in the other cub's direction as she spoke, "Whatever. You still won, s'not like we said no magic anyways."

At Intombi's mentioning of returning to the den, Safuma's crimson eyes rolled toward the skies as she tried to gauge the time of day. They had been gone an awful long while, even if not all the time had been spent with their new friend. She and Zu had been wandering for some time before they met Intombi, but Saf was reluctant to leave the older cub. You never knew when you'd see a rogue again, and she had found she quite liked Intombi. Sighing, she glanced at her sister, "Probably. Ma or Pa might've noticed we were gone by now. Or one of the nannies."
