"My... well, guardian," Eri answered, unsure of how to explain it further to Ahneta as she shook Lara's hand. "You seem to share... many qualities of hers." Not certain others-- but a few. Her look. Her style. It was quite like Eri's mother-figure.
Lara. Ahneta. Asher. Calder. Eri hoped that she'd be able to remember all of these names in the future. After all, she'd never been particularly good at names outside of her family's. She could do this though, if she related them to those she already knew...

Calder blinked at the other for a moment, then opened his mouth to say that it wasn't really any sort of trouble, and he didn't mind having a roommate temporarily. Then Asher was talking again, and Calder just shut his mouth and smiled patiently.
At the mention of his being similar to a friend, his brows creased. Like a priest? He didn't think he had anything in common with a priest... of any sort. But if it made him a friend, he could live with it. "It's not a bother at all, and I'd love to see your pottery." He grinned over at his newfound friend, and folded his hands behind his back.

Lara gave Ahneta a look over once more. Her gestures seemed sincere and her smile didn't appear to hold any trace of sarcasm or spite...for now she seemed nice. Badly dressed, but nice. "It's always nice to see some new faces around the place. Sort of calming to know I'm not the only new person here, don't you think?" her tone was very relaxed but still mingled with a voice of relief and cheerfulness. To be honest, the whole garden with green grass and flower beds, was never her thing. Too much work to keep everything alive and green. Just give her one of them mini-cacti and she would be right. She let her hand drop down by her side when Eri released it and used her other hand to brush a stray hair from her eye. Everything here seemed perfect though. Clear sky, nice temperature with a soft draught. She wondered if the world surrounding this building was this perfect as well, or was it just in here?

((*xD @ Drako*))
Nodding absently, Eri smiled slightly. "It's always nice to know you're not alone." That continued to be a truth throughout the ages-- if somone found themselves alone, it became difficult for them to continue on. Humans carried within them a need for interaction, sympathy, empathy-- at least the majority. Not that everyone here could be considered human, but... ah well. Thoughts...
Tugging at her braid almost nervously, Eri considered things. She still needed to find her way about this place-- should she stay and continue building up her acquaintance list or go off in search of the offices? Perhaps someone here knew...? "Do either of you know where to find the office-- or whatever it's called here-- with the paperwork that needs to get filled out?" she asked finally.

"Not a clue actually," Lara responded tracing her eyes over the facilities immediate grounds. She was sure that so long as these women had a better sense of direction than herself and could read the posts correctly, the trio should be able to find the office in no time. "Well... judging by the last sign I saw. I believe it says it should be in..." Lara pointed in a south-east direction. Clearly she would be no use to anyone when it came to reading a map. "...that way,”
She looked in the direction to which she had pointed, as if using some imaginary super-powers so she might see through the walls and read some sort of label specifying which block was in fact the administration one. "Shall we go see if we can find it?"

"Sounds good!" Eri nodded, glancing at Ahneta for approval before they started walking off together. Hopefully this would work out well. After all, that was the hope, right...? That everything would work out and they'd get to go home and it would be fine and...
Too much thinking. More walking.

"What do you suppose we do when we arrive at the building anyway. Fill in some paper, sign a few forms or something?" Lara gently nudged Eri in the direction of the nearest hanging sign. She began to wonder what would make someone like her decide to adopt. Everyone needed a bundle of joy in their life...but Eri seemed like she was happy enough already. Why now and for what reason?
Lara let her thoughts finish there, why bother asking. If Eri wanted to let others know, she would say something eventually right?

"Of course; I need to visit and pick up my paperwork as well, after all."
Ahneta began walking with the other two women, observing the area as they did so. If she had known Lara's thoughts, she'd have been very amused; after all, her own reasons for adopting a child here were much different then usual ones.
If she'd just wanted a child to have a child, she'd have simply waited for one from her own place of work; but then, Ismet - the boy raised by her and the other two mages at the compound - was in enough in that regard. Anti-social little brat, in her opinion.
Ah well. Hopefully this child wouldn't be as reclusive.

"I guess filling out paperwork is the way they make sure we're not incompetent," Eri mused as they moved along. It seemed appropriate that people would have some way of differentiating the insane from the not in this world where there were so many deviations from the norm.
If Lara had asked, Eri would've stared at her, puzzled. In Eri's mind, adopting a child was natural-- something akin to a rite of passage, something necessary. Happiness was a part of it, but more than that... it was the course that most took. Normalcy. Which meant, naturally, Eri wouldn't be able to respond, really. She had no words for what she deemd 'normalcy'.

"Paperwork?" Lara laughed amused. "If that's all it takes, anyone would be able to waltz in and out of here with a child. They most likely have some sort of... line that defines what happens. Guess we passed,"
The three were a sight to see. The first woman wore hardly a thing and other woman had giant wings. At least one them seemed normal. But normality was getting harder and harder to define now. It was almost abnormal to act normal.
The facility ground covered a lot of area, more than Lara had expected even after her little accidental trip. Some day she might actually get used to the place...someday. She looked over her travelling companions once more. Lara heard Eri’s words echo in her mind once again. "It's always nice to know you're not alone."

((Eri doesn't have wings... >>; If that's what you were referring to? I didn't have a picture of Eri at the RP contest. But... this is my avi!Eri. sweatdrop )) Moving along little by little, they crossed the grounds in search of the building from which they could gain their paperwork-- and perhaps, an explanation of sorts. Eri found herself consumed by thoughts. Thoughts of what was to come, of what had been... what could be again.
"Is that it over there?" Eri asked after a moment, motioning towards a large building.

Lara looked in the direction of where Eri had pointed. "Maybe?" she responded. "It does no harm to go check it I suppose," The building was fairly big, brick of course, but she hadn't expected anything flash. Very standard, nothing to point it of the ordinary. She didn't see a notice or anything hanging up, but with a place this size, they couldn't afford to do that with every building. "To the large building it is then!,"
(( My character has wings xD ))

((Oooooh. xD; Okay. Sorry. Misunderstood. xD;;; ))
And they were off again, having paused only for a moment to examine where they could go. It seemed that they were working quite well together as a team, something Eri found herself unashamedly grateful for. It made it easier on everyone when people got along.
The building appeared normal enough, but who could tell what lay inside? With any luck, they'd run into the individuals running this place.
((Erm... gonna play a bit, hope it's okay...?))
Inside the building, a variety of individuals roamed about, most people seeming somewhat busy. Judging by the description of what she might find here, Eri found it pretty easy to assume this was the place they were to pick up their paperwork. After all, it seemed to be the busiest place they'd come across yet...

Lara peered around the office establishment. It was filled with many a people doing many a things. Two women were leaning over a computer screen, one pointing something out to the other. The girl sitting down seemed very annoyed at something. Must be having computer troubles.
There was another man heading out the back door, a lighter in hand and cigarette box in his pocket. Obviously it was break time. He greeted a fellow staff member who was out of sight before disappearing behind the door and outside.
And last, but not least was person number four. The guy replacing the drinks in the vending machine. Gee. What a great career he had.
A girl sat at the front desk, everything on it was organised perfectly with nothing out of place. A badge on her vest read the words:
Ariko Executive Assistant to Dr. Akari
She was shuffling papers and stamping documents and such, as was the task of an assistant. She had cold eyes and a look that said 'The world IS my business so I'll run it like a business. File your complaints in the trash' At least that was the impression Lara got anyway.
