I always read Erik/Christine phics. Though I think once or twice I got bored since I couldn't find any good ones so I read a Erik/Meg which I can deal with. But really, I'm an EC shipper; any other pairings I find distasteful, but thats just me. And I really dont like Erik/other woman stories. There are way too many mary-sues and some really bad plot lines out there. Also adding the fact that I'm an EC shipper, I just don't like them. -_-

Personally... I don't think Erik could get into a real, sane, emotionally sound, romantic relationship with anyone... Why? I don't think he has the capability to do so.... I'm probably going to get hurt for this. It's not that I don't like Erik... it's just... I dunno... I'm not sure that he could get a relationship like that to function...
Maybe I'm being harsh on him, but I don't support Erik/Christine becuase that's really a stalkerly obsession on Erik's part and admiration and pity on Christine's part. And Erik doesn't have much contact with anyone else besides Daroga...
Maybe just maybe in ALW's Erik/Meg might work... but only IF this kiss Christine gave him was enough to help him understand emotion, a concept I don't think he really gets.
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return... anyone else think Erik needs to watch Moulin Rouge? XD

I agree that Erik really couldn't manage a sane relationship with anyone, at least, not without years of effort and a very patient partner... He thinks that being loved is all he needs to cure him of his problems, but in reality it would only make them worse. Amongst other things, his own insecurities about himself would make him jealous whenever Christine/Meg/OFC/Buquet spent time with anyone else. That's why, if it's really an option, Erik/Nobody is the best choice, but everyone wants him to have luuuuv, so...
Which isn't to say that any of those other pairings could be done well if the nastier aspects of the relationship were taken into consideration, but they never are. It isn't the pairing that's bad, it's the way that it's handled. Even E/C could be done well if everyone were kept in character and actually worked through all those emotional problems before progressing onto the happiness.
Then again, there's nothing wrong with lusty, unhealthy, angsty, mutually abusive relationships of convenience... Erik/Khanum!

Considering that there are only like four women in the story, my favorite pairing is, of course, Erik/Christine. I know a lot of people hate Erik/OC phanfics but I've read some really good ones over these past few months.

I'm not sure why AT ALL, but... <.< >.> I'm kinda for that Meg/Erik pairing. I honestly have no idea why, but it just works for me. Maybe it's because Meg could be another prospective protege. *shrug* After all, Meg did take the Phantom's mask at the end of the movie sweatdrop

I think it would be a good pairing, especially since Meg's mother (Madame Giry) has known Erik for so long.

PhantomoftheFox If I may say my bit, Erik/Christine is not an actual canon pairing. The only canon pairing is Raoul/Christine. Deal. (And I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm saying it because it's true. The entire point of the story is that Erik's love for Christine is unrequited.) Thank you. I tell people that all the time. I'm a fan of PotO in every form, but the book will always be king. That being said, I really can't see any possible pairing of Erik and anybody. I never believe that Christine loved Erik. Pitied, yes. She has sympathy for him at the end and at best maybe...maybe a bit of Stockholm's Syndrome. The only thing I would willingly say Christine loved about Erik was the dream of him as the Angel with the heavenly voice, but that dream and love were shattered by the truth. Erik loved, if not lusted after Christine, otherwise he hated other humans, so much so that he was more comfortable being a Ghost then considering himself a living human being. His hatred of his fellow humans went so far as making him able to kill or design torture devices and implements of death which he did with no remorse or disgust. He could kill because people were like bugs to him, annoyances to be swatted away if they got in his way. Therefore, I can not concieve of Erik being paired with anyone else.

A lot of very, very good points ... but, as being an aspiring writer, I love making alternate universe stories to change things and make people look in different directions. <3
I love Raoul, I love Erik, I think they both deserve someone like Christine (and I adore Christine, anyone who thinks otherwise, well ... that's your opinion.), but, Erik only needed her to show him human emotion - she wasn't really 'in love' with him, she was nearly possessed by his powerful, angelic voice, but then of course, the truth was shown - literally. Erik does need someone, but after his admiration and love for Christine, it seems nearly impossible to have him with anyone else.
But, bending the impossibilites, I can't choose between Raoul/Christine, or Erik/Christine - they both love her in different ways, and she loves both of them in totally different ways. It's hard and gives me a headache. XD So, looking towards Erik/Meg ...
I haven't heard of it until now, but it sounds like it could work. With her infatuation with him, her having minor relations because of her mother, having his mask, so on so forth ... many plots can form from that, if you're going from the musical/movie.
Erik/OW can be very enticing or very, very horrifying. The Mary-Sues that magically make Erik fall in love is just sooooo annoying. =w= I like the ones that have as many flaws; have throat aches when they sing or swollen ankles when they dance, a not-so-perfect attitude and not able to make Erik love them. I actually would like to see OW/Erik develope as long as it needs to rather than shortening it.
OKAY THERE'S MY LONG POST. =D

I'm all for Erik/Meg. 3nodding
In fact, I'm working on an E/M phanphic, but I only publicly posted the first chapter, and now I sort of write it privately. ninja
But... as it was said previously by others, there are three main pairings that will make me cry/stab the fanfiction/fanfiction writer with a pointy stick.
`Erik/Raoul.
Okay, words cannot describe the improbability and the sheer grossness of this. gonk Just... no. No. NO, I SAY, NO!
`Erik/PERSIAN?!
Alright. I quote the above, and then add this: "WTF?!"
If the fanfiction writer in question has read the novel, and thus knows who the Persian is, why can't he or she just STOP knowing that he or she has most of the "educated" Phans' approvals?
WHY MUST HE OR SHE CONTINUE AND LOSE THAT RESPECT?! WHY, DAMN IT, WHY?! gonk
`Erik/OC
Nooooo. Noooo!!! As it's been said, I hate when it goes like this:
OC: OMG IT R PARIS OPRAH HOUSE LOLOLOLOLOLOL! Erik: OMFG PURTY GRL!1!1!one OC: *SINGZ* Erik: LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I LUV U MARY ME!!!1!1! OC: MKAY BCUZ I UNDERSTND U LEIK NO-1 ELSE!!1! Them: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!1!1!
...every time a fanfiction writer makes on of those, Erik kills a kitten.
Please, dear God, think of the kittens.

Ah yes, the dreaded Mary Sues and Self-Inserts.
The ones that really annoy me are the ones with the completely superfluous, tacked-on flaws which are somehow the cause of infinite angst, which allows them to understand Erik's pain. I read one where the girl was angsting because her hands weren't pretty. Puh-leaze.
Query, Youko-chan... Why do you find E/R gross and improbable? I'm just curious.
