Chuckling nervously, Saffron realized that he hadn't completely understood how Koorie might respond to this revelation.
"Err...to be totally honest, I'm not exactly sure what it LOOKS like, myself. I couldn't exactly watch myself grow out in the woods..." He reached up, smoothing his hair back. "I can explain what I experienced though...sorta'. I was walking with this Faery Pae'il named Karma, like I said, when I started feeling strange. I just thought I was getting sick, so I excused myself and rushed off into the forest. Then, I started feeling even weirder. Next thing I know, I'm on the ground with my eyes closed. It was like...my body was changing dramatically and while I figured it should hurt...it didn't. Just felt...odd. After a few minutes, I realized it was over. I opened my eyes and discovered I'd gained a few inches in height...well, increased size in general and I'd changed from teen to adult in a matter of minutes. Of course, that's just physical growth. Mental growth is more...gradual."
He hid a blush, remembering what an obnoxious brat he'd been once. It seemed so long ago...and yet not.

Looking from Saffron to Raziel in the sand, then down to Pastela, who was falling asleep, she looked back to the older Pae. "So... literally, there is no definite long term growing. You just... just grow... as in, massive growth spurts..." She was slowly grasping the concept, as strange as it was to her.

Saffron smirked. "That's the basic idea, yeah. I hear it's not quite the same for you humans, is it?" He'd heard a little about humans from his mother, Takeko. She'd grown up with one named Teigra, afterall, before returning to Telrunya for good. He couldn't help but be a bit curious about a completely different species, that seemed in some strange ways, a bit like his own...

Koorie nodded. "Right, we tend to grow slowly over a span of 25 years; both mentally and physically. It takes a while, and lately it's lead to many problems...." SHe smiled. "But you don't need to worry about any of that."

"Wow...25 years?" Saffron couldn't hide his surprise. He knew that humans grew much more slowly, but he had no idea it was that dramatic of a difference. Chuckling, he realized that he didn't even remember his own birthday. He'd have to ask his mom one of these days.
"Well, I'm an adult in the eyes of Pae'il society...and I'm only about a year old, if you believe that. I'm not sure I could wait 25 years just to grow." He laughed at the concept...it was absurd.

Koorie laughed as well. "It all depends on genetics and the species. Some species of fish actually take a good 50 years before they reach mating maturity." She then sweatdroped. "I'm not even fully grown, I'm only 17."

"50 years?!?" Saffron failed miserably to keep the surprise out of his voice and he laughed at himself moments later. "Wow...I suppose that's a pretty lengthy gap between species' ranges, eh?" He shook his head slightly, grinning. "And to think...we mature in only about a year...of course, it varies from one Pae'il to another." He smirked, thinking of his own family.
"My sister and I are twins...though not identical. I remember being such a brat growing up and when she hit adulthood before I did..." He laughed. "Well, you can imagine I wasn't too happy about that. I took teenage angst to a whole new level." Blushing slightly, he continued to chuckle. "And yet...it seems so long ago now. Strange, isn't it?"

Koorie couldn't help but laugh with Saffron. "That was my exact reaction when i first learned of it as well."
She listened intently as he spoke about his sister, then laughed a little. "Yes, so much can happen in a year, that looking back it makes it seem like a long time ago certain things happen."

"I suppose it's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?" Saffron smirked, nodding slightly. He'd never had a chance to talk to someone like this before, let alone a non-Pae'il. He'd heard about one called Teigra from his mother of course. Apparently, she'd raised Takeko since birth, so his mother had quite a few stories to tell. He'd never thought he'd have a chance to meet one himself, though, let alone talk with one at such length.
"Well, I suppose we've talked about me now, as well as Pae'il in general. How about you? Any interesting stories of your own to share?"

Koorie laughed a little. "Much of the stories I have are of me and my not so bright best friend from my child hood.... There's the time she decided that this guy was cute and she'd hook me up with him. Back then, I wasn't exactly a guy's best friend... in fact we used to joke I was an elephant tranquilizer for the male sex drive. Needless to say, her little plan ended up with her locked in my bedroom closet for a week...." Her face was a little flushed, embarrassed of such a story, and she let out a little bit of nervous laughter.

Saffron blinked repeatedly, a bit confused and wondering if he should be concerned about his new friend with this bit of new information. "Oookay," he answered hesitantly with a nervous chuckle, "I'm...not quite sure I followed that one, but I'm not sure I should ask any questions either. Especially not with young ears around," he joked, gesturing to the kids nearby and laughing.

Koorie felt her lips pull into a smirk, then she snorted and laughed, covering her mouth a bit. "Sorry, your reaction was just too funny though...." When she finally calmed herself down a bit, she spoke again. "That was at least four years ago, and the guys that were around my area weren't exactly the type I'd give a first look to, they were all wanna be hipsters and pimps, and it drove me mad...."

Hipsters? Pimps? What in the world was this crazy girl talking about now? It seems there was much more she could probably teach him than he could teach her. Though...Saffron hadn't decided yet whether or not he wanted to learn these things...
"I see," he chuckled again, shaking his head a bit. "And if that was then, what about now? What sort of area do you call home now?"

"Home? Honostly, I would love to be able to call this place home. Everything is so untouched by human development that it's still unpolluted and beautiful. Not even the National Parks, that are protected against pollution and destruction by the government, are this beautiful." Koorie heaved a heavy sigh. "But alas, I will eventually have to leave from here. This is not my lands, this is yours, and humans have no right to disturb it."

Saffron frowned slightly. There was such sadness in her voice all of a sudden. "You know, Pae'il aren't the only beings who live on Telrunya. There have been exceptions made before...I'm sure they could make one more if you really wanted to live here."
He smiled warmly. "Afterall, the only ones not welcome on Telrunya are those who would wish the isle or its inhabitants harm. I'm pretty sure you don't fall into either of those categories," he winked playfully, gesturing to the young Pae'il in Koorie's care.
