The last thing he wanted to do was put Daemon into a silent depression.

Well... the whole mess started prior to what some would called the Winged War, though really it was only a war between certain groups of Angels and Demons, people have been so use to the older ones not getting along that no one thought much of the beginning signs of a war since generally it was the Demons that started it and Angels tended to get involved because the Demons were doing something they shouldn't. However one should not underestimate the stupidity of the young filled with egolist views of their race... as it turned out it was between the younger angels.. younger I mean they've been around for a century or younger... well there were a few two or three hundred ones, but... no older than that.
Daemon paused as if to muse about the stupidity of it all.
These were also often the elitst angels, the ones that were suppose to come from linages of angels who for milliumen or more spent their lives fending off monsters and the like. Anyhow... when the signs began most of us didn't batter an eyelash, everyone thought it was between the olders, and that was normal like I said. A visit from Luna though, dispelled that one pretty quickly. You remember her right?

She had looked familiar for some reason, he recalled, but he shrugged it off.

Yes well... in Luna's particular Angel society... to say not all angels do the same thing... but in her society the social rank depends on gifts, Luna had the ability to summon spiritual creatures, souls that inhabit other things like plants but actually don't have a body. They just live in them like you would a house. So she was pretty high up there, however she drove the guards nuts by leaving the city via sneaking out as we were children growing up.
Daemon chuckled at that.
Anyhow, Luna had gotten wind that some of the more zealot of the younger angels wanted to wipe a certain demon population that lived in the mountains near their floating city. However law states they cannot unless war is declared for good reason. She feared that they were going to try something so fled the city and came to my home.

Well what happened was that these young, and I use that in a relative term, were going to use old boundary disputes to try and declare war. Something about a holy ground or another. Luna had gone to Yume and I for help in hopes we could prevent it. Yume being a spiritualist would have some say at council and both women hoped by locking me in a library for a week or two I would find something that would prevent such a dispute from breaking out. She was fine, she was just... well.... being pregant is a bad time for a war to break out.
Daemon would have shook his head, but instead the image of Luna in her seventh month came to mind.

He paused. But you said she was pregnant ... was the baby all right?

Oh the baby was fine!
Daemon brightened a bit, though there was a hint of sadness.
During the war the Demons tried to summon some kind of large canine kind of creature, very large and much worse than your typical hellhound. Those zealots of angels thought they could confine it and use it against the Demons, foolish... but they were foolish young ones. Luna died during it's ramage through their city....
He paused.
But the baby lived, she asked Yume and I to take care of her.
He sighed it was sad, but it was also the wistfulness of a man long ago.
My baby girl... she's probably not a baby anymore.. well granted she was thirteen when I got sealed away, but she was so small....

He paused thoughtfully. I hope you find her again, he thought sincerely. When we get back to the castle we'll see if we can find out how long you've been here.

Well hopefully Kyoko or Kara will be living in the mansion.
Daemon replied.
They do inherit it after they finish their schooling so it should not at all be a problem. The mansion is big enough for the both of them, and they were set off to fine schools, it should have everything they need to start their careers.

Yes, both of them were, though both had different mothers.. of course since Kyoko is younger.
Daemon would have been smiling at this point.
Irony of the fact that Kyoko is a demon by birth, but they loved each other to bits.
