"Where is she?!" came a cry from downstairs. Odd bounded up the stairs and through the hallway, just barely dodging around nurses, doctors, and other hospital thingamabobs. He skidded into the room, nearly smacking into the bed where Mauli lay. He hopped up onto a stool, and then up onto the bed near the railing, tip-toeing around her feet in an excited dance of a sort.
A few crashes outside, and Azurai arrived in the doorway moments later ((she had not been so quick as dodge around the nurses, doctors, and hospital thingamabobs)). Her untied shoes were flopping off her feet, a baseball hat pulled sideways on her head, her jacket hanging off ((thank God she got her pants on xd )). How she had been able to drive in the excitement...
"Hush, y'great dolt!" she said, scooping Odd off the bed lest he trample Mauli in his own delight. Odd squirmed and struggled to get out of her grip before he saw Lenta with Kailee...He gasped, as did Azurai. She set him quietly down on the ground, and stood silently. Odd was gaping at the...the...gorgeous little child.
"She...she's...beautiful..." Azurai whispered, barely audibly.
"Just like her mum," Odd added, and grinned, padding over to the baby and...her grandmother. "W-...what's her name?" Odd said, sitting down near Kailee and gazing at her.
She's incredible, Azurai thought, turning her head to swipe at her eyes. She hoped Lenta wasn't looking. After all, Rai wasn't the one to get all weepy and mushy and stuff...She shoved her hands in her pockets and smiled, blinking the tears of happiness back.
((Hardly a replacement for my first post, but, what the heck.))

((Ahhhhhhhhhh, I'm sorry T____T My comp completely died on me, and I've finally gotten to mom's house, and....and....and.... I'ma just shut up now and post n_n))
Mauli had had her baby.
Isto was eating a late breakfast when the phone call came. Moo answered, so he soon lost interest. It was only a phone call, after all. Why should he be interested? He watched out of the corner of his eye while she talked...and talked....and cried a bit....and talked some more... All in all, it was a rather irritating spectacle.
Finally, she hung up. Moo turned to face the small group still finishing breakfast, positvely beaming. "Mauli had her baby! A girl, and-"
Any further comment was promtply cut off as Isto fell out of his chair, knocking his breakfast all over the floor. He ignored it and climbed to his feet, bolting for the back door , completely oblivious to Moo's yell for him to come back. No one had even told him that Mauli was at the hospital!!! He'd assumed she was just asleep. It would make sense, right? Why hadn't anyone told him!?!?
He charged into the garage, sidestepping just in time to avoid knocking over Acia's latest creation, and pressed the button for the door to open, revving up his motorcycle and hardly waiting for the door to open completely before tearing out and down the driveway. He reached the hospital in a matter of minutes, forced himself to park correctly, then rushed inside.
A grand total of six different doctors and nine seperate nurses stopped him before he reached the room. And each asked the same questions: What the heck was he doing here? Was he a patient? STOP RUNNING IN THE HALLWAYS! .....All in not so many words, of course. And each time Isto managed to murmur an explanation before pushing past and continuing towards the maternity ward. He'd wormed the room number from one of the doctors, so now all he had to do was find it....
Finally! He pushed open the door and skidded to a stop inside, grabbing hold of the door frame to keep from running into Rai. Clearing his throat, he murmured an apology, eyes searching the room, falling first on the sleeping Mauli, then on...
Smiling faintly, he stepped over to Lenta, hesitating for a moment before crouching before her, staring silently at the baby. Shortly Isto straightens up, smiling nervously, gesturing with one hand to the infant. "May I..?"

Lenta grinned, waving to Rai. "Yeah... Isn't she great? 'Er name's Kailee." She smiled sadly as Rai sniffled, but forgot about it as Mauli groaned from her cot.
"Who's here?" She murmured, just as Isto burst into the room. Everyone fell silent until Isto spoke. Lenta nodded, handing Kailee over to him. Mauli lifted her head, blinking sleepily before smiling at Isto. He had finally come... She could stop worrying.
Kailee blinked, patting Isto's head with one hand.

Isto carefully accepted the child...his child from Lenta, chuckling softly and flashing a grin with the pat on the head, taking that to mean she approved. "Kailee, aye?" he murmured, more to himself than anything. "Sorry I'm late. Apparently I look more like a patient than your mum..."
He stole a quick glance to Mauli, then returned his eyes to Kai, automatically beginning to pace around the room, and keeping up a quiet conversation with the infant. After a while he paused, hesitated, then held up his right hand, metal fingers twitching for her inspection. "What d'you think?"

Kailee seemed to be listening the whole time, her tail twitching and wrapping around Isto's arm at intervals. As he held up his metal one, she gurgled softly, fascinated by the sheen on it. She silently placed her fingertips on his palm, expertly keeping away from his twitchy fingers.
Mauli rested her head back on the rough cloth pillow, vaguely aware of Lenta smoothing her reddish-brown hair back as she fell asleep once more.
