I think i will be sticking to eletronic stores from now on (the ones that sell more than games and sell hardware and such for computers and such) because when i got FFXII instead of being asked the brother question i got into a converstation about how big the games may become which is bad news for sony btw as the bigger and longer the games the less money.

Every time I walk into a game store that no one knows me at, I usually get the snide "Here comes trouble" from one guy to another, like I'm someone's pissed off girlfriend. neutral

Only trouble I've had recently was with my pre-order of Crackdown...and that doesn't count as a gender problem. More a problem of the clerk being about as thick as a brick. I had pre-ordered a copy of Crackdown at a local gamestore in my town, the clerk knows me, and I was the first on the pre-order list. So last week he called me on my cellphone telling me that Crackdown was in. I went to collect it and he looked at me slightly bewildered and said: "We don't have any copies anymore...or did you pre-order it?" Damn boy...I was the first on your damn list and we spoke on the phone less than an hour ago.
Other than that my reputation as a gamer is pretty much an established fact there. I'm older than the clerk and older than the kiddies who go there to buy the latest EA Sports junk. I know way more about games than they do and they've learned not to challenge my knowledge and skill, the hard way. razz

I was going to get a job at EB games, but the workers there are so direspectful. I rudely butt into a conversation when the wrong information was given out about Assassins Creed. >__< I couldn't help myself. Of course, they didn't believe me cause I was a girl, but they found out that I was right when they looked it up on the internet.

Jerks.

Though my welfare little EB games has a mediocre selection of games. I love the boss there heart

All the people who work under him suck, but he always jokes with me. He's so cool! whee

Around Christmas a man came into the store looking for Katamari Damacy. The clerk at the time only looked for it on his computer and told the guy they had it. So I waltzed over to the game and handed it to the guy. xd

I felt so important!

The only store experiences I have are just weird looks. I don't really look like a nerd (even though I really am) and people don't really expect that I really like video games.

Well...Once, when I was new to gaming, I bought this game that had Tweety on it. The guy at the register was pretty frank and basically took one look at me, rolled his eyes, and went 'Of course, girly.'

I was so pissed that I beat the game in one day, took it back while he was on shift, and then bought the bloodiest, goriest, most sinisterly motivated game I could find and made it a point to tell him that 'It better suits my tastes.' with a girly giggle and everything. twisted

I seriously think I cannot get a job at this game place because I am a girl and I haven't gone in there showing off some cleavage or wearing a short skirt. Really.

I'm qualified! They just hired this dude that goes moves slower then a snail and they won't hire me? xp

Other then that I never got problems because of my gender. surprised

Had the same problem, they hired a non gamer over me scream

Sigh. sweatdrop Very unfair.

I walked into a Best Buy once and people thought I was lost! It was a sad sad day...

The only thing like that I've recieved is the very common "would you like this wrapped?" when I go to the counter, basiclly already reaching for the papper. It's always equally fun when I say no, they get so embaressed twisted . Other then that I've only gotten snide looks

I so hate when people downgrade girl gamers. Infact, just recently on a forum I go to, some guys were saying things like "Girls aren't good gamers" blah blah. And it boiled my blood mad . I just dislike it, heh heh.

Anyways, haven't had a bad experience at a gaming store. Actually, I've had a couple "good" experiences.
1. This happened about a year ago. I got hit on at the gaming section in Best Buy XD. The guy was all "So, you game?"
2. This happened a few years ago. I never sold a game to a game store before, and for some reason, I thought it was like Beanie Babies or something >_>. You know, if it's in good condition, it'll be worth the same. I bought the game for $16 and I'm assuming I'll get around that or at least $10 and I'm told I'll just get $4 credit ._. . I then had a look of disappointment on my face, it was around Christmas to add, and the guy added an extra $4 credit to me ^^

I'm a regular at quite a few game stores, and as far as I know I've never gotten any kind of gender-bias reaction. For some reason I feel weird saying this since quite a few of you guys HAVE had that experience confused ... almost like I'm making you look bad in comparison sad .
Frankly, no one should have to put up with that. This guild's called "Gamer Chicks" for a reason, people. Gamers come from BOTH sides of the gene pool, and it's about time some people learned that... am I right? Or am I just mouthing off just for the heck of it xp ? Hehe... xd
