Grinning at his "shocked" words, Lovey attempted to look thoroughly chastised. Unfortunately, the best she could do was duck her head down and hide the grin and laughter in features of her face. Shaking her head back and forth, making it seem like she pondered his words seriously, "Incredibly forward? But sir! I was merely questioning the information you offered to me." Looking up, but keeping her head low Lovey waggled her eyebrows as best she could.
"Behind the ear and feathers as well?" Giggling at how the stallion must have been rolling in order to make THAT a reality. "Perhaps sir, you are best suited for... walking?" Wishing a bit she had seen this wild roll down a hill.. She'd never tried anything like it.. her mane would probably get caught and it'd hurt like hell...
"Rivers? Who would roll down a hill with a river conveniently placed at the bottom?"
Smirking but not commenting on those that rolled in dung.. that was just misfortune of course...
"Jagged Rocks?" dragging a foot in the dirt in horror, "I must say that I would never agree to roll down the hill that you and your friends chose... rivers, rocks, dung, and bruising?" moving closer to him as if examining his coat to see if any recent hill-rolling had taken damage to him.
"Fascinating, sir? Hardly. We're like everybody else just with different ... parts." Snorting back as she thought of the silliness of that comment, "And yes, I'm well aware that most stallions bolt.. for "commitment" is worse than any four letter word I could come up with... but.. what if I like watching a stallion run tucked-tail away?" Softening her cruel sounding words with, "Maybe it's a test... you've not bolted.. yet." Grinning mischieviously and waiting.

"I have no reason to bolt, I am a stallion who prides himself in understanding his duties." Grencia bowed his head slightly, his expression dignified. "My herd are quite clear on the duties of a stallion, regardless of his position and rank he must mate..." He paused briefly and shook his head, raising a brow as she came to inspect his otherwise gleaming coat - the hill rolling had been quite some time ago.
"If a stallion chose not to perform his duties then there would be no herd." Offering a hapless shrug, he flicked his gaze towards her thoughtfully. He had to say, this female was rather refreshing in her flirtatious manner although he had a sneaking suspicion that she very naive - that and she would probably burst into tears if her belly began to bulge - after all, it would ruin her figure and 'beauty'.
"As for the river, we did not actually know it was there, some things just happen and if a river desires to materialise out of nowhere, then a river will materialise out of nowhere - it is just the way things are." He kept his tone level, completely serious despite the complete idiocy of the statement in question.
"And I assure you, I am quite aware of the differences in males and females -" He stopped short of continuing his sentence and snorted. He was a guardian, a protector of his herd and therefore he was meant to be honourable in all things.
Innuendo was not honourable.
No argument about that.

Grinning mischieviously up at Grencia, Lovey stepped forward boldly... She had never played with fire - so to speak- and she was old enough now that she wanted to learn.. Why not find an interesting stallion and see what she didn't know. The past few weeks had taught her several things and she was lucky to have a rapid-growing mane. Her two-legger had cut several inches off several times because of the damage to it... but how could he know that? Lovey no longer gave a damn how she looked.. (Well she cared -- but not that much...) "Your duties, sir? That's all you see the... more passionate side of life as?"
Gazing up at him, her eyes bright vividly green, "and as a stallion's duty.. does he also have to find the mare? Woo her? Mate her?" Chuckling at the image of a stallion with a checklist and plan, "Or perhaps the mare has to hunt out her future mate.. and tie him down to do the.. uh "duty."
Shaking out her mane, taking a step back.. Lovey knew she knew nothing at all.. so perhaps she came off as a dunder-head. Frowning, losing herself into her thoughts she forgot to answer him on his thoughts of river-placement and how most people would be able to hear the water.
"You know the differences, hm?" He was an unusual stallion, she knew her words were entirely inappropriate but she wasn't afraid of him, or of what he could teach her if she pushed him too far.
"I like you Grencia, you're ... refreshing."
No argument about that.

"My thanks to you, it is always nice to have a compliment expressed." Grencia offered a smile as she made her rather bold approaches. All in all, he couldn't say he was used to the mannerisms of this girl but he had grown accustomed to how strange this land was and therefore, he wasn't really surprised by it.
"I cannot say I view it in any particular light at this moment in time, I was given additional duties to attend to and thus, it has not been particularly important to me." He chuckled slightly at her words though, the idea of there being a step-by-step plan wasn't as far from the truth as she might think - although usually, it tended to be the mares with the check-list, the males just went with what was easier at the time.
...Well usually.
"That does not mean I am not a romantic at heart though." Returning to the conversation he arched a brow and shook his head, "If such things were attainable, then I would sooner find a mate that I loved." He mused, his mind floating back to his herd once again...Ah, in ways he was a little homesick he supposed.
"But yes, I do know the difference between the genders...they are not that hard to miss." He pointed out before flashing a grin, his mind harking back to her compliment.
"Although I must admit, being referred to as refreshing is a change - my most recent 'compliment' was that I was a nuisance."

Grinning and moving back a bit away from Grencia. One that that Lovey knew she wasn't and would never be was a vamp. No stallions would lay drooling at her hooves and that was just find with her since she didn'tk now what she'd be able to do with useless adoration. Frowning slightly he looked down at her hooves for a moment, thinking to herself - Lovey your brain is about as strong as mush... -
"Duties?" Lovey didn't have a herd, for the most part she was alone except for a few very unsettling memories that had plagued her mind on and off since her arrival in the Soquili lands. She had visions every now and again of faraway times. Most of those were filled with pain and she tried to shove them away... "Your words are most unusual.. since I have no idea what duties a herd could give... Scouting hills to roll down?" Questioning him with only a hint of teasing this time...
"I don't know what my heart is." A soft smile and a dreamy look, "Sometimes I wonder if I have one... or if I do I wonder why it's always so confused." Shaking out her body from tip to tail-tip she sighed softly, "I did not mean to go to such a bizarre mood.. I assure you I'm fine now.."
"Hmm. Honestly I have no clue the difference between mares and stallions.. save for the obvious but I don't know details.. you know what I'm trying to say?" Blushing lightly as she admitted her naivete to a stallion, "I'll learn someday I imagine.. all the little colts and fillies that run around look so sweet..."
"Waitaminute.. who called you a nuisance?"

"A mare who once lived with my herd," Grencia's expression clouded and he looked very tired and old in that instance. His bright feathers and youthful expression usually hid his true age but when his defences were broken, or if he was reminded of something that trouble him...then he very quickly lost his lustre.
...Not that he looked ugly or battered when old, in fact he appeared quite sage like but it wasn't what most found fun to be around.
"Long ago, I seriously considered her as a mate but due to my herd and its traditions I would have been a laughing stock. At the time I was far too arrogant for my own good and thus, I kept these feelings to myself." He gave a delicate shrug and then huffed a heavy sigh, one tainted with guilt.
"However, during the period in which we travel between the lowlands and the valley we were subject to a brutal storm on the slopes...She slipped and fell from the cliff face. We were certain she was dead, so I laid her to rest in my memory." He began to chuckle, a bitterness within the reaction that should have been happy.
"And then, when I was sent to these lands to track a particularly dangerous insurgent I discovered her on the hill tops, alive. I suppose I would have reacted much better to her corpse but the confirmation that she was still alive...Well, I did not react so well - especially when she could not recall who I was and more so that she had a hatred for wind soquili." He opened his wing and smiled faintly, his words harking back to her comments when she first encountered him.
He had said that his wings were unimportant, perhaps she would understand why now.
"Despite her inability to remember me and despite her hatred for me, she still allows me to reside at her humans teepee... But that does not stop her from throwing the occasional insult if I even so much at smile at her nowadays." He smiled faintly, and lifted his gaze to look at the young mare...She was so young, had so much opportunity ahead of her and if he could say just one thing to persuade her to take chances then he would.
But then again, maybe now she also understood why his smiles were often sheepish as opposed to full...

His story made the bright green of her eyes fill with tears. He probably didn't want the tears and she knew that they wouldn't do anything to make him feel any better. Tears would only make some stallions rage and other stallions would break down into them as well.. Blinking rapidly, trying to calm herself so as not to upset him in return any more than he may be hurting.
She tried to imagine why someone would develop a hatred for wind soquili and her mind began to wonder.. On her way down she probably hit her head so she lost memories. The mare sounded an aweful lot like Lovey in the not being able to remember but having certain quirks and likes and dislikes. She had started talking with a french accent on some words... She wasn't french but it had been familiar in his past.
Moving closer to Grencia again, frowning softly at the loss of his sheen... The pain he must carry around, the total feeling of wasted love and life.. Sighing softly she moved closer still. She didn't know how he would react, she hoped she didn't startle him with her touch, but useless words would do nothing. Even now, several full minutes after what he had said the call of the wind and the water int he nearby background were the only noises. Lovey had been around those that had been through pain, but this seemed to useless... so senseless... Touching his neck in a soft nuzzlling movement she whispered almost silently, "Loving and losing... what's the point of it all..."
Moving back slowly, still standing close to Grencia but not touching him since she didn't wish to be attacked or to make him dislike her. He might now have an aversions to mares... Living with one he had loved and hearing her hate him anytime he was there.. such pain to go through.. what a hell to put yourself through. No wonder he had "duties" that kept him away from the herd that he loved so much, but tormented him in return.
"What is her name?"

Grencia smiled as she voiced the question he had asked himself so many times. It had been particularly common in recent months, especially with every passing moment he remained at that teepee and yet... He remembered when he had realised the answer, when he had soared above the slopes to survey the deserts and had seen that fiery pelt as the mare watched despite herself.
"Life is not all fun and games, to experience pain is to reassure us that we are alive and that we are real." He replied at last, flicking his gaze towards Lovey appreciatively as she expressed her sympathy in a much more appropriate way, words would have encouraged him to slip further into that useful self-loathing phase.
...And that was never a fun mood to be around, regardless of who it was.
"Her name is Yei, Yei Umeko." He added after a few moments, "Perhaps you will have the chance to meet her some day, she is a very sociable creature." He mused and then released a soft chuckle.
"...And very nice to those she meets while exploring."

Smiling up at him softly still, knowing he still probably needed silence from her to get through the demons he had to wrestle with. Speaking of the past be it good or very bad always had a few strings attached.. Waiting and watching him carefully, not making a noice until he had spoken, "The pain let's me know I'm alive.. but if I've only pain.. what makes anybody wish to stay alive?" Propping a foot up and thinking over her own question. Her past had been painful, this was proof from her inability to summon up much of it, but something in it had been good.. good enough to keep her living and moving on with her life.
Shaking her mane out slowly she rolled the name through her mind, "Yei... hm.. i don't think I've run into a mare like that..." Straightening up, not wanting to slouch and think for TOO long she sighed softly, "I'm sure she won't always think you're a nuisence... besides you can always prove yourself useful or just be a friend." Thinking many different things at once, her voice soft and thoughtful...
She smiled wider when he chuckled, a laugh was a laugh even if it was a bit self-derisive, "And who do you hope to meet while you explore?"

"The insurgent I seek." Grencia replied honestly, his expression grim. He had never come to the Kawani lands in search of love, friendship or otherwise - rather, he had been sent on a mission. Due to his upbringing he wasn't about to toss it all away regardless of how the native soquili of this land may take to the duties bestowed upon him.
He would be no better than a kalona no doubt.
"But I am often pleasantly surprised by natives and the likes as I explore the region." He added after a few moments, mulling over her perfectly reasonable question in his mind. "The soquili of this region are uncharacteristically hospitable despite appearances." He finished before raising a brow as his mind fluttered back to the kalona he had encountered.
...Those who were 'evil', and yet completely incapable of proving it most of the time.

Waggling her eyebrows as best she should, "How are you not sure I'm not evil? I could attack you the second you turn your back.. or I could be a blood-sucking vamp ready to rip and tear and destroy." Blowing a piece of hair out of her eyes she gazed up at him, waiting to see what he thought of her reasoning on that subject. Sure, she had no clue what lands were what and why these seemed to be oh-so much more ominous than the others she had been around, but frankly she didn't care overly much.
"An insurgent? Ho-Hum, I'm afraid taht I've never heard of one of those.. part of my naivete I suppose.. and yet if you asked me I can name off about a hundred different ways to soothe a mane or tail that's in a "flyaway mood" Chuckling softly she couldn't help but wink at him, "I'm a useless mare completely and utterly useless.. but I suppose I'll work well with a herd later in life that have no knowledge of fun, yanno?"
Gazing around curiously she could see nobody else around, perhaps the air-traffic was thicker since she had been in these lands for well over two days and he was the only that she had run into. "Odd's Bobs... I've met a couple snappy Kalonas.. but I snap back and they leave me alone... I've no use for mean soquilis..."

"Insurgents are criminals, those who have performed horrendous actions." Grencia explained patiently, flicking his tail against his flank as a fly came to invade his personal space. "Those who steal, kill and perform other unspeakable crimes are often referred to by such a name - as a guardian of my herd it is my duty to locate them and to dispatch of them." He added, tilting his head to the side and pursing his lips.
"In a manner of speaking." He added after a few moments of thought.
"Although, might I say that the ability to offer advice on a soquili's appearance is a skill in itself. I fear I may sound a tad rude when I speak these words, but it is no place of a female to have her mane marred with blood." He mused, his eyes darkening slightly, "Nor should she see such things."

Frowning slightly and looking from right to left a bit nervously, "Oh dear.. I don't think I like the idea of wandering around an area that has criminals that do such horrid things in them." Unconsciously shifting closer to Grencia since he's one of the "good" guys, "I uhm... definately don't think this place will become my home.. it's sad sometimes not having a herd, you know? But I'll be okay I'm sure... sometimes it just stinks.. I'm so new to these lands and I'm wandering into potentially dangerous places without a clue what they could be."
Winking up at him playfully, "You could even have been one of the bad guys and I just ran right up to you." Smiling reassuringly, "But of course I know you're not now.. I just I don't know actually, just a strange thought.. I should hope nobody would ever want to spill my blood, but if they did I'm not that great of a runner." Babbling on and on, letting her mouth run the thoughts that came to her brain, not noticing if he was listening to her or annoyed by the constant talking.
Blinking in horror for a moment, "Blood on my mane? Heaven's no... I've never been THAT close to attack.. well.. ever! Usually they call me a half-breed or something and I tell them to take a long walk off a short pier.."

"Try being called Insolent repeatedly and you will be walking in my hoof steps." Grencia smiled good naturally as the mare began to babble, it was nice to be shown that even mares within this region could be like those of his herd - they were intelligent, but expressing themselves was not one of their strong points.
It was endearing, he would give them that.
If a little hard to understand sometimes.
"I assure you I do not think that the insurgent I seek will be spilling your blood any time soon, as far as I can tell...he has gone into hiding." He mused, canting his head to the side as he watched the mare thoughtfully. She was strong, intelligent (or so he thought) and yet there was a sense of vulnerability...almost as if she had no direction.
"As for having no herd - I am certain those of the Islagiatt Herd would welcome you until you are certain of where you wish to go. They are never one to turn away those that are in need."

"Insolent?" A wicked grin twitched along her cheeks and Lovey tried not to act foolishly, "But my dear Grencia, what if I thought you to be the most insolent stallion I've ever met?" She picked a hoof up and looked at as if examining it's quality, in reality she was hiding her smile from him and the laughter in her eyes. He was one of the nicest she had met, why would she call him names? Oii... sometimes she had trouble with her level of seriousness.
He amused her, which was rare for a stallion to do... She'd met several that had wanted one thing from her and all of it had been back with her tail.
Shaking her head she came back to reality, "Ohhum, I'm rather glad he's not out to get me, since I'm not looking for him!" She chuckled lightly and slashed her tail back and forth, putting her hoof down and gazing up at him. Lovey's eyes told all her emotions, which is why she had to hide them if she wished to fib or play around.
Eyes like windows to her soul. It was a blessing and a curse.
"Well.. thank you Grencia, I am likely to take you up on that if I find nowhere else to go... Besides, it'd be interesting to have you around if I ever had little ones.. I imagine they might think of a game "on their own" involving tugging a feather from... "uncle gren's" wings and running for it." She giggled softly and continued to look up at him.
