I just want to say - to above posters - Frankenstein and Gatsby are freaking awesome.
Anyway, does anybody know any good books from the actual Gothic Horror genre. Frankenstein + Dracula-like stuff. I'm getting into that. Also any good Sci-Fi. I loved The Difference Engine.

I really like the book 'A Great and Terrible Beauty' by Libba Bray. Sort of like science fiction set in the 1800's. 'Tithe' by Holly black isn't bad either in the gothic sense. On the cover it is described as "a modern fairy tale".

L0rd Momo If you are into Manga then you should read Godchild. Here's what it is about ((whats writen on the back))
Deep in the heart of 19th century London, a young nobleman names Cain walks the shadowy cobblestone streets of the aristocratic society into which he was born. Forced to become an earl upon the untimely death of his father, Cain assumes the role of head of the Hargreaves, a noble family with a dark past. With Riff, his faithfull manservant, and Mary Weather, his 10-year-old half sister, Cain investigates the mysterious cromes that seem to follow him wherever he goes.
Four gripping tales of murder and mayhem complete this chilling first installment from reowned author of Angel Sanctuary. Godchild is a manga series that gothic fans shouldn't miss!
It's very cool. I just got the first and second one Friday and I am obsessed with it I absolutely heart ADORE heart Kaori Yuki!!

I agree with most books and comics mentioned. I love The Sandman comics. What I would like to add, however it is equally hard to read as Poe if you don`t have a translation to modern english, are all the books of H.P. Lovecraft.
Favorite ones: "Shadow over Innsmouth", "The dream Quest of the Unknown Kadath", "The Case Charles Dexter Ward"
