Chris walks up to the table of weapons. "Well, this isn't really what I expected, but oh, well." He picks up a shiny longsword and holds it for a minute, staring at it blankly. Finally, he said "I guess this will have to do." He takes the sword with him.

"I guess you're all ready to go eh?" A coach said as he approached the boys. "What enthusiasm! Glad that you're all so spirited. However, I need to explain a few things." The coach laughed heartily before continuing.
"This is a practice tournament - just so the other coaches can see how trained you all are." The coach continued. "That means that we don't want anybody severely hurt."
At this point, the coach fills Boltlock's quiver with arrows and gives Chris and Skiverdra blade guards for their weapons. He also hands Jean a handgun and some tranquilizer bullets.
"I expect that you all know what to do with these items." The coach replied. "I suggest you get yourselves ready."

Skiverdra takes a few test swings of his scythe. "It's not as balanced as the one I use at home." he said, "But it'll do."

"Hehheh... my favourite kind of bullet." Jean said with a smirk. He always preferred tranquilizer bullets rather than real ones. At least these won't kill no matter where he shot at.

Chris attaches the blade guard to his sword and looks at it awkwardly. "This thing feels like a club now," he said disappointedly. "Well, I guess it can't be helped. After all, this is only a practice session."
Chris waits for the other students to ready their weapons for practice and the coach's instructions.

Boltlock takes one of his arrows from the quiver on his back and bounces it in his hand playfully. He looked diappointed at how lightweight the arrow was in his hand. He walks to the other wall of the room and stands at guard, watching, waiting, thinking. "Ready when you guys are."

Skiverdra fit the blade guard onto the scythe. "Whatever." he said.

Chris gave Skiverdra a strange look. "Um...the blade guard is so we don't kill each other," he said. "You wouldn't want to have someone hack you to bits on your practice now, would you?"

Boltlock let out a slight, almost unnoticable shudder at Chris's comment. If only they knew...

"Alright!" The coach said, pulling out a whistle afterwards to alert the four boys and the other students.
"The practice tournament will begin! The results of this tourney will help us, the coaches, figure out how to best help you all! Rules are simple. You each will carry a colored flag with your names on it."
The coach whistles again and the assistant staff hands each student their red flag which bear their name and the school's insignia.
"In a little while, we will escort you to the training field of the school. It is a gate-enclosed forested area where you all will battle. All of you will wander around until you run into an opponent, or opponents. You will not, I repeat, will NOT be fatally killing each other. Unnecessary force will not be tolerated and will lead to suspension or even expulsion from our school."
"Any questions?" The coach asked the students. "If not then let the tournament begin! Have fun, do your best, and remember the rules!"
Hmmmm... those rules have always been open-ended. They're always the same every year... Jean thought with a smile.

Chris felt a tingle throughout his whole body, followed by a slight shiver from nervousness. Well...I got myself into this. Now it is time to show them what I've got, he thought to himself. Finally, he said "Alright, let's go!"
As he walked into the training area, Chris felt even more nervous than before he entered. Snap out of it Chris! Concentrate! he commanded himself as he readies his blade guarded sword. Remember, stay as far away from the archer and gunner as you can.
He looks over at Skiverdra, and then at his weapon. That scythe looks just as dangerous with that blade guard on as it does bare, he thought to himself. I better be careful here! These guys look like they mean business!

Boltlock walks out to the training field. He feels a calm in the forest and his nerves loosen a bit. It helps being in familiar surroundings. He takes up a spot near the base of a large oak tree and awaited the signal.
