The episode with Queeg really us what me think that everything Holly did was just for a joke.

If he did bring Lister and Rimmer back just because he was bored, that would mean that Holly is the God of Red Dwarf.

If that's true, then Lister can't really be God. He can be the son of God, raised from the dead to bring humanity back to salvation, but no more.
