Macy blinked, and smiled rather graciously at the answer. It was a geniune, caring smile. Directed straight at Jareth, he had only smiled like this once before with Jareth present. Whenhis mother and father had visited the castle and Macy had been with them, he was only four or five at the time. But he still remembered it.
He walked over to Jareth, a happy smile on his face, not overly happy, suttly so. He stopped just before the taller man and gazed up at him with unmasked kindness, a hand reached up and rested lightly on Jareth's left cheek.
"you don't know, how many times when I was little, I wanted to say dad or papa to you. Maybe it's just natural for a child to rebel against his parent and I realise maybe I have been a tad spoiled and rotten towards you since I've grown..."Macy paused, and diverted his gaze down, his hand growing limp and landing softly on Jareth's shoulder.
"but no matter what, you are my father, I don't remember my own well, so you are in that place. raising me on your own, I guess i'm trying to say 'thank you' and 'sorry' and 'I care' at the same time" Macy said, his gaze flicking up to breifly look at Jareth, his hand leaving the others shoulder. He didn't know what had compelled him to say it, maybe it was the way Jareth had warned him about Caspian, almost like a real father. He liked that alot.

It went without saying that Jareth was more than a little surprised, and for a few moments he didn't know what to say. Even though he knew there must have been some kind of love between the two of them he had never expected it to be vocalised, least of all by Macy.
"You don't know how happy it makes me to hear you say that." he replied after a long pause. "And I want you to know that I am so proud of you. You've grown up so much since you've come here, it's almost frightening."

"if it wasn't for you Jareth, i'd probably be have been sold on the market or killed" Macy replied, smiling softly, he hadn't really expected to voice his thoughts to Jareth. But he just had the overwhelming feeling that he had to.
He took a sip of his water and played with a strand of his hair, he hadn't expected Jareth to say he was proud of him. He'd not acted in a way that deserved pride in his opinion. "I just wanted you to know, that I think of you as a father figure is all." he mumbled.

Jareth nodded, rather awkwardly. It was true, god only knew what would have happened to Macy if he had been left to fend for himself, especially as a child. But the Goblin King tried not to think about such things. But the tender moment seemed to have passed so he straightened his shoulders and allowed a slight smile to decorate his face.
"Thank you, and I've always thought of you as my son, even though I have no children of my own." he said. In fact, Macy had been brought to him shortly after his own father's death. In many ways, caring for the child had helped him a lot in dealing with his loss.

Macy shrugged nonchalantly, haing expelled the needed emotions on his speech, Though, he wasn't being cocky or sarcastic as usual. He looked over out the kitchen window, wondering why he was an orphan.
"what happened to my mother? I know she got exiled from her village after I was born, and I know my dad probably got killed when he returned to his kingdom, being a disgrace to the royal family and all....but what about my mother? how did you know her?" Macy asked, the question had been biting at him for some years now, he just had never risen the subject before now. Jareth had always been tight-lipped with things concerning Macy's mother --Shiayla-- and he wondered what Jareth was hiding about her.
He paled quite considerably, wondering if he was going to get yelled at for his question. He had a headache and was in no mood for it, his horn bases were sore aswell, like they had been yanked hard on repeatedly.

Jareth smiled weakly. The unigon was long overdue for an explanation about his unusual birth.
"I'm not sure where she is now, Macy." he said, a hint of sadness in his voice. "The last time I saw her was when she visited the castle with your father. He was being pursued by the Dragon army and the Labyrinth offered a brief sanctuary. They were planning to head north together to seek sanctuary with the unseelie. I believe they allowed her into their kingdom, but not your father. Shiayla was a unicorn priestess, there are only three of her kind left who posess the correct ability to heal. They are also stargazers, viewed as prophets in many kingdoms. The very ground she walked on was considered sacred and the unseelie jumped at the opportunity to have such a powerful healer in their kingdom, even if she no longer held her title. But your father was a dragon lord, and a wanted one at that. Hiding him would have been disastrous for them, it could have started another war. Your father only wanted Shiayla to be safe, and that would never happen with the army on their tale, but she refused to go anywhere without him, so one night he left her and returned to the dragon army, where he surrendered and was taken back to his kingdom." he sighed, not needing to explain what that implied.

"he was murdered right?" Macy answered, his tone flat. So his mother held a title, but gave it up for love? Macy would have branded her foolish, if he was in his normal mood towards Jareth. But he wasn't, his head hurt, he was spouting weird things and suddenly him and Jareth were like father and son in conversation.
"so mother could very well be dead aswell, and I would be aswell if I tried to pass into any other kingdom on my own. Is that why you've locked me away?" Macy asked, he definately felt ill. He thought maybe it was the air pressure, or even the weather change but he had always been very easily assaulted by illness.
"oh..god.." Macy mumbled, before he collapsed, falling rather gracefully to the ground as he passed out. He was feeling suffocatingly warm, it was probably his fault for venturing outside in the cold without a jacket, and ignoring Caspian's insistance of a jacket for a while after he had been pushed into the cold ocean.

The Goblin King blinked as the unigon suddenly fell to the floor. He knew his young ward could become ill very easily, it had happened often enough in the Labyrinth.
"Macy?" he cried out and quickly scooped him up off the cold floor, the unigon was a lot lighter than he expected, and carefully carried him into the living room, resting him on the couch before he could assess what had happened.

Macy came to a few moments later, and was surprised to find himself lying on Nishi's couch. He looked to Jareth blearily and laughed quietly at himself, how foolish he was to allow himself to faint dead away infront of Jareth.
"I think I caught a cold" he mumbled softly, smiling at the older male. He pressed a hand to his forehead and found it was warmer than usual, he also had a headache which was probably why the bases of his horns felt sore aswell.
"I went into the ocean on a cold day, and I refused Caspian's help for about forty-five minutes or so and then I accepted because I was cold." he explained, sitting up slowly.

Jareth sighed, Macy could be so stubborn at times. And he often underestimated the elements leaving himself worn out and ill at the end of it.
"Why don't you come back to the castle for a little while." He suggested "Just until you get your strength back."

Macy nodded and slowly picked himself up, he grabbed the couch throw and slung it around his shoulders. He felt rather cold he found, as he stood waiting for Jareth to lead him back home. Back to his real home.
"good idea, it'd be easier to rest up, as long as those stupid goblin-gits stay away from me" Macy said, grumbling slightly. His ears flattened in disdain at the prospect of having to be around the ugly little creatures again, and a frown of annoyance set on his flushed features. Even if the Unigon was ill, he was still grumpy when called for.

Jareth put an arm around the unigon's shoulders and they suddenly appeared outside Macy's old room in the castle. Jareth didn't really know how to describe pan-dimentional travel, other than it made him feel a little sick and that the world looked like it was turning in on itself and regurgitating into another place that was totally different. He tend to keep these journeys to a minimum and he didn't like passengers, as the more people he brought back with him only increased his motion sickness.
"I'll make sure they stay away." he assured the other man as he pushed the old door open with a slight creak. "You should get some rest."

Macy felt his stomach flip as he went through a travel form he had only used a small amount of times before. He hated it, thus he never really used it, and he couldn't really use it well either. Last time he had used it on hiss own he had wound up right in the middle of the Dragon Kingdom, while on the run from the Labyrinth.
That had turned out to be a bad excursion, though Jareth had no idea Macy had to run for his life from there. He had never told him about that, as it had scared him.
Macy nodded and smiled warmly at Jareth before he stepped into his old room, he opted for a wash to freshen himself up and make him feel more relaxed and he changed into his simple sleeping clothes, a white cotton shirt and pants set, with cold designs stitched around the neckline and cuffs.
He slipped into his big, comfy, canopied bed and snuggled down, instantly slipping into sleep.

Meanwhile, Jareth returned to the dusty confines of his private library, after giving the goblins specific instructions not to disturb the newly returned unigon.
The endless shelves of books were like a labyrinth unto themselves, and tended to moved around of they're own free will. IT was quite irritating sometimes, as nothing stayed in order for long and the Goblin King would often find himself completely boxed in by towering shelves if he wasn't careful. The books were also filled with their own unique mysteries. THey liked to encode themselves if they did not like the reader or rewrite themselves entirely. It took a skilled magician to make them behave and unravel their secrets.
However the book he was searching for was locked within the bottom drawer of his bereau, written in a neat, curly handwriting that was not his own, drawing and doodles and madical notes, scattered upon it pages and journal entries on the rest. For this treasure was Shiayla's notebook, it's dust jacket stuffed with love notes and silly poems, she had even kept the letter he himself had written to her when the legendary unicorn maiden had been on her travels.

Macy awoke groggily a few hours later, his fever had gone down a little and he felt he could go and find something to eat. He got up a slipped a pair of indoor shoes on--walking around barefoot in the castle was highly dangerous in his opinion--and left the room.
He walked down the memorised corridors silently, he saw a set of double doors and stopped, looking down at the light filtering from a crack under the door. He pushed the doors open and found himself in a library of sorts, walking in he avoided anything that moved, when it wasn't supposed to until he came across Jareth, looking at some sort of disorganised book.
"what's that?" he asked bluntly, the words weren't meant to have slipped out.
