Halloween actually doesn't mean a lot to me. Me living in Germany, it's not a big thing around here, but recently kids have started to adopt the costum of dressing up to trick-or-treat. A lot of people don't prepare any candy though, I'm afraid.

When I was in MN as an exchange student, me and a couple other FES went trick or treating as well. We were mostly 16-17 at that time and brought the grand-daugther of my hostmom with us who was 4 at that time. It was a lot of fun and we got lots and lots of candy! xd

Fact: Halloween was an ancient tradition done in Ireland. They (children) would go to houses and ask for food. If they didn't get any, they would curse the household in the name of a bad god. sweatdrop Creepy.

Halloween is just another commercial holiday where I can run around in my jedi cloak and loot houses of all their candy when they leave bowls out. Yes, I am that person razz but I'm not that bad about it. Some people will completely pour it in their bags.

I just like candy. It has no significant religious meaning to me lol.

Halloween...I do the trick or treating and tradition stuff. Who does mind free candy? I also feel a different presence during it. Its different from other holidays. The presence isn't bad and its mysious voice makes halloween exciting. It only appears at night though...

Life's a dance you learn as you go
Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow

It's a time for candy rofl and dressing up in really cool costumes! Oh and lest we forget about the satanic blood orgies I hold all the time twisted
Don't worry about what you don't know
Life's a dance you learn as you go

Halloween is like my christmas. I look forward to it all year. It when you can let the inner "demon/angel" show and no one will look down on you. Everyone has fun on halloween. Its a really fun part of the year that I couldnt live without.

To me Halloween is a lot of things.

Halloween is a day to get some free candy and an excuse to ignore the amount of sugar intake.

Halloween is All Hallows Eve, a day to remember our departed and thank them for the influences they have had on our lives.

Halloween is Samhain (soh-en), the Celtic New Year, a day to look back and remember the things that we did, events we enjoyed, and lives that we touched.

Halloween is also a second birthday to me, like a new awakening in who I am and where I really belong in this existence. It allows me to be different from the rest of the world without having regrets.

well halloween is my country's traditional custom.to correct Damaru Merodi's mistake, halloween (oƬche samhain) began in pagan times when people believed that at that time of year the worlds of living and dead were open and the dead could wander from door to door expecting food and drink set out for them and a place set for them at the table.they feared that the dead would punish them if they do not do this-not the kids.i find it hurtful when other christians sneer at our innocent commeration of our historical customs.

Edit.
I think it's unfair that the church want to ban halloween. It's new year to pagans plus it's part of many people's reilgon.

eek The church wants to ban Halloween!? Like, your local church, or like the Vatican City???

like all the churches in Britain, it was on our news, radios and papers. They annouced it like 5 days before Halloween but failed here because of the parnets protested.
Mind you I also heared they are asking the pope to get involded. sweatdrop

Okay, Halloween, a corrupted form of All Hallowed's Eve... is a Christian, no I correct myself, a Catholic holiday! It falls on an unrelated pagan holiday, samhain, yes, but the two can, and are, mutually exclusive. Now, the church trying to stop trick or treating, which is the fault of commercialism, not religion as far as I'm aware, is a different story. So we all get to cosplay as something one day a year, get over it. Sorry for the rant, I'm just tired of people calling Halloween a pagan holiday when it isn't.

as an irish christian i know halloween is a pagan holiday-its from a pagan source.its not catholic.any catholic reading that would be insulted.this place is meant to be a religious tolerance guild you know!

To me personally, Halloween has no religious significance, but I love it as a PARTY holiday! Being Diabetic I try to AVOID the candy too much, but I LOVE dressing up in costumes! I also love carving pumpkins, autumn leaves on the ground, and harmless scaring!

Halloween means nothing to me as I've never practiced it. You don't actually do it in Australia, and 1 in 2 families doesn't know when it is anyway as it is so esoteric.

All Hallows Eve is said to be the one night a year the dead can walk on the mortal plains freely. That's the way I see it.
