Thina's frown deepened. She wasn't sure if she should tell the komodo, the reasoning was what got in her trouble in the first place. "I was thrown over the rail," the woman said after slowly chewing the mouthful of food she had. Reaching over carefully, she pulled up the sleeve from one of her arms. Resting on her upper arm was a nice dark and ugly bruise in the exact shape of a man's hand.
The woman watched Joli, seeing if she could read any emotion on that scaled face.

Joli lifts her head it tips to one side slightly, her expression one of confusion with mingled curiousity, the curiousity came from her journalistic background. "Over the rail? Like of a boat?" she was curious and waited for an answer, her yellow tongue flickering and taking in the scents of hte room... and the woman in it.

Thina scratched her scar, obviously a nervous reaction. She wasn't sure how much she should tell; gypsies lived by their secrets. What concerned her for a moment was that she might be the only one here. "Yes, boat's rail."
Not wanting to indulge in more words, Thina took a bite out of her lasagna and washed it down with her drink.

"Sorry to hear that" she frowns slightly for a brief moment. It was obvious hte woman didn't want to devulge much, and was moved to not press her "I guess uh... I guess you don't know much about this island do you... what happens here" she'd only been the one to break the news once before... and it wasn't something she was fond of.

Thina finished the food in her mouth. She lifted her gaze and looked at Joli sidways. From the way it was said, she wouldn't want to know what the island was about. Slowly, very slowly, she shook her head.

Joliette pauses, hesitating before speaking. She wanted to sigh but couldn't "Feral Labs is run by a git by the name of Moreau... They test on people here... turning us into creatures, manipulating our DNA permanently so we are no longer what we once were" her tongue flickers and her eyes watch the woman for her reaction

Thina blinked. It was good there wasn't any food in her mouth, it probably would have fallen out. She didn't grab all the words that Joli said, but she got the general idea. Humans were changed into... creatures... animals.... monsters. A grin broke over her face, "Lie..." She wasn't calling Joli a liar, but the words as lies. "Impossible, that is mithos!" ((myth))
She wasn't finished, "Circe had her island of animals, but that was not real. Humans cannot turn into animals." Thina didn't understand DNA. What does it mean to people who had to grow their own food and supplement the rest by singing?

"Thina... would you like to see what I looked like about a year ago?" she knew the woman wouldn't believe her, the last one she told hadn't either... "I cannot blame you for not believing... I didn't either when I first heard it..."

Thina's grin fell, as she heard the tone. Was it possible she wasn't joking? She didn't want to believe it. "You have a picture?"

"Before I came here I was a photographic journalist... I have more pictures then you can probably imagine, of a lot of people on this island, and some from before I came too" She felt sad, this was yet another victim to the git's desire to play God as far as she was concerned

Thina's eyes widened a bit. She knew about journalists, they interviewed them all the time at large events and some of the tourist gatherings. She still had food on her plate, though, and the woman was reluctant to just get up and leave them. What if she couldn't find this place again? What would she do for food. "Uuuhh..."

"Don't have to if you don't want to... or can later, I'm just offering is all" She nods slowly. she didn't want to force the woman into anything, she never would. So she just waited for the woman's decision

Thina paused, thoughtful. "Later is better." She didn't want to seem rude, but, well... she was of a direct and blunt race of people. "Signomi ((sorry)), I think I need some time alone." The woman stared at her food. She was still hungry, but she needed to think. "I will look later."
The woman lifted the fork and dug into the rest of her lasagna. She lifted her eyes, and smiled slightly, "Efharisto, Joliette." ((Thank you))

Thina ate the rest of her food in silence, thinking about what Joli had said. It wasn't until she was chewing the last of her dessert that she thought of those last words. What did she mean 'plenty of time'?
It was too late now.... she got up and left, leaving her tray on the table, in search of that room she woke up in.
