Can God create a rock that He cannot lift?

Here is something I've found in When Sceptics Ask... that I think answers your question:
Q- Can God create a mountain that he cannot move?
A-This is another meaningless question. It asks, "Is there something more than infinite?" It is logically impossible for anything to be more than infinite, because infifnite has no end. The same applies to questions like "can God make a square circle?" It's the same as asking, "What's the smell of blue?" It is a category mistake-colors don't smell and circles can't be square. These are logical impossibilities. They contradict themselves when we try to think about them.god's omnipotence does not mean that He can do what is impossible, only that He has the power to do anything that is actually possible, even if it is impossible for us. Any mountain that God creates is under His control. He can move it or destroy it. You can't ask for more power than that.
Direct quote.

Omnipotence, according to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary:
Merriam-Webster's Dictionary
Main Entry: om·n**·o·tence
Pronunciation: äm-'ni-p&-t&n(t)s
Function: noun
1 : the quality or state of being omnipotent
2 : an agency or force of unlimited power

"Unlimited" includes the limits of logic, does it not?

Yeah, I agree with you on that. Hey, imagine going up to a random stranger and asking them what the smell of blue is. rofl

Questions:
1) If God is Merciful and Loving and compassionate, why do people go to hell just for not recognising him? Don't say he is obviously there, people just don't bother with him, cuz thats poo.
2) when you speak to God in heaven is that prayer? Unnecessary question but if you know...

I'll have more soon because i'm a very curious girl.

God is also judge. He set the universe in motion with very strict rules: Follow me because I'm the only way you can be saved ("Come with me if you want to live"- yay, Terminator 4laugh ); going down any other path will lead to your demise. He loved us enough to give us the option to choose, but the first people He created chose against Him, condemning us. We still have free will, and just like Adam and Eve in the Garden we still choose against God. Sin feels good; it feels better than not sinning most of the time and that's why we need God's grace to overcome it and be saved. There is only one path to God: Jesus Christ, who has paved our way with His very blood. Deviating from it either left or right is gonna get you headed in the wrong direction. It's alot like physical laws. If you jump off a building you're going to fall to the ground. That's just a law of nature. If you refuse to follow God you'll end up like the Enemy at judgment.

Sweet! A thread for this. I have some... This is for a friend, whom I love to death, so be nice! wink

-Why did God demand blood sacrifice? And why did the sacrifice Jesus made have to be a blood sacrifice? This reminds her of the old "blood gods" who demanded brutal offerings such as this, and not the loving god we like to depict.

-Refer: Lev 19:31, Lev 20:27 (ugh, I thought there was one more...) -What if you were born a medium, and it is something that cannot be stopped? (Lyneun's additive: you know, like breathing, or blinking)

-Did Jesus have a choice in his death? God knows everything that is to come and everything that has been. He knows the outcomes of every possibility, and the ultimate path they will follow. If Jesus knew this, and knew it was going to happen, did he have a choice? And if he did, did it matter?

We had a cool discussion about these questions, and others. I told her at the beginning, "I can't promise to have the answers, but I will try to help find them out with you." I'm also going to ask my mom, since she knows much more about tough questions than I do, but if anyone has any insight, let me know?
