THANK YOU. GOD, THANK YOU.
Though if you don't mind, I think you should add an extra point on staying aware of everything that's going on.

I do have a problem, that you just made much too great a difference between what you called semi-literate and literate RPers. Not every post needs to be like that Sample C of yours, and there is room in between-- certainly room that the discrepancy between literate and semi-literate should be much smaller than the example you gave.
I appreciate that you wrote this guide, but I fear it's more than a little bit elitist.

I agree with Ganon. With your Samples A, B, and C things... I'll admit B doesn't have enough stuff behind it. But I honestly didn't even BOTHER reading C. I didn't think "OMG, such amazing detail! Wow! Super! Great!"... I thought, "Booo-riiing!" =/ It sounds to me more like you're trying to show them all how to become the world's greatest authors. You're not writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows--chances are you're writing fanfiction, which, while with the potential to become excellent, isn't going to be read by millions (if not billions) of people. It's a hobby and a pastime, maybe even a first step to the Harry Potter novels, but it's not the same thing. I'm sorry if I offended you, but I think Ganon's got a point about it being elitist.
Still, from reading it... With the do's and don'ts, and on the point of dedicated RPers, you're absolutely right. One should at least let the RP creator know they're bailing out before they stop posting for months on end. I tend to get really annoyed when people do that. Sure, I don't mind so much if it's just one person, but when a number of people do it, or even the creator himself posts again out of the blue months later (I've seen it happen once), it's perhaps the most annoying thing I can think of that can happen to an RP.

Recamen I agree with Ganon. With your Samples A, B, and C things... I'll admit B doesn't have enough stuff behind it. But I honestly didn't even BOTHER reading C. I didn't think "OMG, such amazing detail! Wow! Super! Great!"... I thought, "Booo-riiing!" =/ Exactly. B is little more than a slightly less n00bish A, but C is filed under TL;DR. (For those of you unaware, TL;DR = Too Long; Didn't Read.) People need to find a happy medium, a nice place in between those two ridiculous extremes, that makes for fast, in-depth, and fulfilling roleplay. And Reca, I disagree about the "how to be world's greatest authors" thing. If I had my way, someone who wrote a story that way wouldn't be considered a great author. The vocabulary and description there is so superfluous that it becomes hard to tell exactly what the hell is going on, and when you get down to it, no amount of description is worth the loss of clarity. I could never sit and read a book that referred to teeth as "ivory pillars" or where "in her mouth" was written, "behind her orifice". Wanna know something? Some of the greatest books in the world are written primarily in what a lot of RPers would call "one-liners", just simple description of the action that leaves a lot up to the imagination. The guy who wrote "The Three Musketeers" wrote that way (and I'm told he was paid by the word!). Simplicity and clarity make a great narrative much more than overdescriptive nonsense.

Ganon Firenight Recamen I agree with Ganon. With your Samples A, B, and C things... I'll admit B doesn't have enough stuff behind it. But I honestly didn't even BOTHER reading C. I didn't think "OMG, such amazing detail! Wow! Super! Great!"... I thought, "Booo-riiing!" =/ And I was just about to whine about Sample C being too long and boring. Ha ha. I only read half of Sample C.

...I liked it? Though I probably would get annoyed from that much description, I think that being Literate is an important goal to strive towards, you know?
