Jigue couldn't help but purr at Basil's soft voice, nodding in agreement. "You're right, I shouldn't have worried," he accepted, ears twitching backward momentarily before righting themselves. He should have listened to Basil more; after all, the cat was sure that the violin would still be there, and he was right. Jigue grumbled at himself; he would have to trust others more if he was going to improve himself. Well, at least I'm getting somewhere...
Jigue was surprised when Basil returned the kiss, but even more surprised at his own actions. It's not that it had seemed like a bad idea, it was that he wasn't usually the type to do it. It made him feel more relaxed about it that his friend had done it too, though, making him feel like it wasn't so out-of-place. In response to his words, Jigue wrapped his arm back around the cat's waist so he could lead him. "Hehee, I agree! And you can tell me all about it before we get there," he grinned.

The feline purred. His tail gently wrapping around the other as he led the way. It wasnt so much for the need of trust, though it is a wonderful thing and terribly easy thing to break, it was more of confidence. Basil was confident in the fact that it had been only mere minutes since they had left but he had trust in the people around that no one had taken it. If that made any sense.
Giving a small nod the cat closed his eyes and looked up alittle, picturing the bakery. "Actually, it's a very nice place. Very family oriented. One of my freinds owns it. His name is Florien. Maybe we'll be able to see him."
A purr escaped him as he continued to reminisce, "The place wafts smells of delicious treats all day, and everyday. It's warm and freindly, and there's never any hostility against anyone. Its a small shop really, but it's always full of people around now and during lunch. Sometimes, there will be people who will sit around all day, just chatting away old times with freinds and then the workers have to politely ask if they could close. Though most times they just stay open a little later than usual..."

Jigue smiled at the descriptions, gracing his free hand over Basil's tail as he felt it wrap around him. "You know the owner?" he asked, smiling. If he knows the owner as a friend, then it shouldn't be a bad experience at all, he thought, although never thinking it would be as bad as before. "That's good. I've had the same thing happen to me as in the park at a pizza parlor, but I believe you. If you say it's going to be fine, then it's going to be fine," he stated, nodding in emphasis. And this time, he really believed it.
"I like small shops. They always tend to be friendlier with everyone than other places because they get to know the common folk and their problems. Kinda like a family in itself, isn't it?" he asked, beaming up at Basil. "I can't wait to feel it for myself. It'll be great," he continued, nuzzling his head into Basil's shoulder.

The cat continued to purr... One of his main traits and how people knew him was by how he almost constantly had a purr going. When his tail was brushed over he gently stoaked the others hair. "Yes. Florien takes good care of the shop, and recently he's had a new helper around I beleive, so it's been even freindlier. " He gave a small chuckle. "Yes, smaller shops and such do hve a homier feel to them don't they? I beleive it's because it's more personal when it's small and everyone knows each other. All stick up for another without fear."
At the other's recalling of the pizza parlor his purr went alittle solomn as he kissed the top of Jigue's head. "That's terrible... People shouldn't do that to anyone... It's just cruel and I for one dont stand for it."

Jigue's ears swiveled back slightly as he thought about his time out before, but he was still comfortable now. He closed his eyes as Basil kissed his head and blushed, something very visible on his pale features. "Thank you. It's hard out in the world for people like us, but hopefully they'll change their position against us one day," he said, hopeful this dream would come true. He knew it probably wouldn't for hundreds of years, but he could still remain hopeful. "I'm just happy for the ones who do see us as equals."
He slowed his steps briefly and sniffed at the air, his pink nose twitching. "You're right... it smells great!" he exclaimed, hoping his stomach wouldn't grumble again. "I think I'm ready," he said after a pause, clutching his violin tightly in nervousness.

"As do I..." Was all that he said and he smiled again, his ears perking at the smell he also caught wift of. Purring more he grinned happily as he looked down the street slightly and spotted the small shop.
Leading the other he held him possessively, but still loose and kind. "It will be okay." He could sense the nervousness and just purred.
When they got to the shop it was mildly full and the door jingled slightly as he opened the door.
Florien's ears perked at the sound of either patrons leaving, or entering. Smiling he bouced from the kitchen to see Basil. Giving a broad grin he wiped his hands on his apron slightly and waved to them. "Hey Basil! I'll be out in a minute!" At that he dissapeared again.
Basil smiled at Florien and waved slightly before leading them towards the glass case which held a bit of anything and everything that could be possibly imagined... Looking at Jigue he asked, "Do you have any preferances on sweets? Any favorites? Im sure they have it."

Although still nervous, Jigue tried to bite back his shielded personality and trust someone like he had never before. It was difficult, as he had always been like that so that he didn't get hurt if he got too attached like what had happened before, but things didn't always happen like they did in the past. Basil was different and not manipulating, and Jigue felt from the bottom of his heart that he could be trusted, something that he was never sure of before now. However, only time would tell for sure.
His ears twitched to the sound of the door's bell, making Jigue smile at the pleasant chime. He squeezed Basil's arm once for reassurance, noticing that Basil was picking up on his nervousness. He lessened his grip on his violin, noting that there may have been many people in the shop, but none with a threatening air about them. It was... so unfamiliar to him that there were people here that would just accept them like this, and his confusion showed.
At the sound of Florien's voice the pale cat stiffened but managed a small grin. He knew he shouldn't worry, knowing that Basil trusted this person, and with that thought his muscles untensed. Besides, Florien's voice was very inviting and friendly, much different than the pizza parlor's workers. His grin broadened as he snuggled up to Basil's arm.
As they approached the glass casing to the treats in front of them, Jigue couldn't help but reach a hand out and touch the glass carefully with his fingers. It felt so warm and soothed the longhair down, waving his tail from side-to-side happily. "I don't really mind much. Anything you want would be fine with me. Maybe... something powdered or iced. I've kinda got a sweet tooth," he replied to Basil's question, admitting he loved sugar. "Of course, we probably shouldn't have just that." He already liked it here.

Basil was slightly that way, but he figured out that some people were okay to get attached to, even if they hurt because it taught him something. It always did. He could personally never hurt someone on purpose, and if he happened to hurt someone, he would try and make it right again.
"Sugar cookies are great, " he purred happily and pointed out 2 in the case that he wanted to get. "We'll take those." The woman behind the glass smiled and took them out, putting them on a plate. "And.... How about two of those cupcakes." He purred a moment and held onto the other cat. Gently he placed a light kiss on top of the others head.
"And... Maybe that muffin. I think that will be good for now." Basil smiled and took the plate from the lady and began to lead the other cat to a table where they could share the treats.
Florien smiled and wandered out of the kitchen happily and made his way to where the two feline's sat. "Basil! It's so good to see you!" The coon murred and smiled at Jigue. "I see youve made a new aquaintance." Extending a hand Florien smiled. "Im Florien. I hope you'll enjoy the treats. Ill make them on the house."
"That's Jigue." Basil purred and smiled happily. "Im sure they're probably delicious as--"
"Florien!! We need help in the kitchen! Damien torched the muffins... again!!"
The coon chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "Well, thats my call. It's very nice meeting you Jigue. Im sorry I cant chat longer. I hope you find everything to your liking, and if you need anything dont be afraid to holler!" At that the coon hurried through the tables to the back.

Jigue nodded as Basil ordered their snacks, agreeing that they sounded very good right now. At the feeling of the kiss, Jigue's ears twitched slightly in surprise, but he found himself nuzzling his head closer to Basil's in response to it. This couldn't turn out bad, it just couldn't. Everything was going smoothly and just right, for once, he didn't know how the day could turn sour.
Following Basil's lead, Jigue found a seat easily, just across the small table from Basil's own, and he propped his chin on his hands, elbows on the table, comfortably pleased. He didn't want to dig in until his friend did, but he didn't mind waiting. He was so happy right now, he didn't want the moment to pass. His grin was sweet and his tail waved, displaying his pleasure openly.
As Florien approached Jigue jumped, not expecting him to come over. However, he didn't mind one bit. Any friend of Basil's was a friend of his, and Florien seemed just as kind. "I'm sure we will enjoy them; they smell just wonderful!" Jigue complimented, not seeing the outstretched hand as his eyes wandered. "You're so nice! You didn't have to make them free..." he blushed, turning to where he felt Basil's presence.
However, as Jigue heard the bakery worker call to Florien and smelled the smoke on the air as he opened the door, the pale cat couldn't help but worry. He could tell by the words that this happened a lot, which helped settle him down, but he was alwasys one to worry. He nodded to the coon as he left and turned back to Basil, saying, "You sure he's gonna be okay?" He was a little unsure about fire.

Basil chuckled as Florien wondered off. At the question he smiled and purred, "Yes, everything will be fine. That..." He ment the burning of muffins, "Is one of the many reasons Florien needs to be around the bakery. But, it happens, and then life goes on." he purred as his tail swished as he glanced at the treats.
"Now... To dig into the delicousness. Would you like a cookie?" He purred as he moved to make the offer. He took one of the cookies for himself and took a small nibble of it.

One of his ears were perked to the door where Florien disappeared through while the other was tuned into what Basil was saying about it, hands fiddling around with a napkin he found at his side without realizing it. He tilted his head to the side as his eyes followed, mumbling a soft, "Mm," in response, agreeing. Nothing bad would happen, these people were professionals. He untensed and smiled, turning both ears back on Basil to appreciate the moment.
At Basil's question, Jigue rolled his arms off the table and placed his palms firmly on the end of his chair, blushing. Instead of answering outright, the ghost-striped cat just nodded, and after a moment lifted his hands back onto the table to grab a cookie, feeling once for the plate it was on. "You're too good to me..." he said quietly with a smile, blush still visible as he bit into the sugar cookie. "This is really good!" he said as he swallowed, a little surprised. He knew it would be good, but not that good!
After a bit of a pause, eating more of the cookie in the silence the two of them held, Jigue's tail twitched as he spoke up, "So, you come here often then, right? I can see why!" He rocked slightly in his seat a little as he continued, "I wonder if there's any other places out in this city like this one. I mean, with this sort of family-atmosphere. Some boast they do, but they don't really." He had meant the discrimination they had faced before, but he was much calmer on the matter, in such a way that he was not upset over it. He was happy over the fact this place was so different, a haven of sorts, and felt safe here.

Basil just purred with a smile. "Everyone deserves to be treated well. <3" His tail flicked slightly as he continued to munch on the cookie, and at the others exclamation, he chuckled. "Yes, they're delicious. That's why I love coming here. Im going to get fat soon if I dont stop." Not that it would help much since him and Florien visited often either ones house.
When the other spoke after the bit of silence, the cats ears perked and again he chuckled. "Yes, its a very soothing enviroment. I have yet to find any others like it. There's just something about it..." Even he couldnt quite put his finger on it, why this shop was so unique and felt so different. Yes there were other family oriented establishments around, but none could even come close to the relaxed and laid backness the backery had... Maybe it was just a affect Florien had rubbed off onto his normal patrons. It was a reason why they would become regulars and the regulars wouldnt allow it to be disturbed with rude intruders.
"Yes, some boast, but I can assure you, this is the best of them all. Nothing can quite measure up to what Florien has accomplished here. It's open to all who embrace the fact of the diversity about and the freindliness of everyone patron here." Basil was pleased that the other feline wasnt as bothered as he had been, it made things so much easier. And he was glad that he was opening up a bit; he forsure needed the oppertunity, and Basil wasnt doing to shut him down for any of it. Sometimes you just need to get away fro mthe harshness of the real world and the hatred around... Personally, Basil did it with his drawings.

Jigue finished off the cookie in his hand, giggling at Basil's comment about how he liked it as well. "I don't see how you could ever get fat, you're so thin!" Jigue laughed, rolling over slightly to lean on the windowsill at his side.
Listening to Basil's theory on the reason behind the small community Florien's bakery accumulated, Jigue moved a hand upward so his fingers rested on the bottom half of his face in absent-minded thought. He nodded slowly as his acquaintance went on, agreeing that this was a good possibility. As he finished, Jigue turned his head slightly so that his vision was between that of looking at Basil and glancing out the window. His mind trailed off for a few seconds, his face devoid of a describable expression before speaking up in return. "Maybe it's simply that this bakery was started by an anthro that the atmosphere is like this. Or maybe it's because it's so small. I'm sure Florien has had his share of bad encounters, at least when this place first started up. However... most people think of small establishments as a place the managers don't expect consumers to pay for a lot, you know? People with low income come here to relax, and they rarely have anything discriminating to say, just by the way they were brought up. At least, this is what I've observed. I could very well be wrong..." he explained as another -- or possibly parallel -- possible reason.
His head tilted downward, a little embarassed he had said so much. He knew Basil would probably see this as a good thing to be opening up, for indeed it was, but Jigue couldn't help but feel just a little out-of-place by speaking so much that was on his mind. He had never done so before! "I think that was a first..." he murmured quietly, smiling sheepishly but still happily.

Basil gave a chuckle, his tail swished slightly, and his purr continued quietly. He too listened quitely, giving a small nod when Jigue had finished. It was nice to have a decent conversation with someone again... He had so missed it, ever since he had left England and had been caught up in that mess... There were just a few of those people that are capable of having a decent conversation that was double sided. Sure, there were a couple other anthros that he would chat with, but nothing quite like this.
Giving a smile and shaking out the old memory, the cat thought about the alternative theary. "Sounds like a very probable conclusion." it did make sense, "They may not be poor, but they seem content with themselves that they dont need to shoot other people down to make themselves better." And that was one of the main reason of insults from people.
At Jigue's comment on it being a first, he canted his head a moment not quite sure what he had ment, but then it hit him. Giving a chuckle he smiled warmly to the other feline. "Well congradulations then. Things are so much funner when it happens to be a first, even if it IS terrifying at times."

Jigue scratched his head lightly, glad that he hadn't made a complete fool out of himself. He was glad that Basil hadn't made a big deal out of it, which was one of his main concerns on the matter, but still managed to praise him. It felt a little awkward, but the pale feline liked it. "Exactly. It could be either, or more probably just a bit of both. Either way, it's no wonder there's no other place like this around here," he managed with a smile, happy that he had been able to get his point across clearly and not mess it up.
Brushing his fingertips lightly across the table to find the plate once more, Jigue grabbed one of the cupcakes and pulled it up to his mouth. By the texture of the wrap around the center and bottom he knew right away what it was, and the heavenly smell of the dough and frosting only solidified this knowledge. Smiling, he bit into it and glanced once more out of what he thought to be the window. He wasn't quite sure, however, seeing as glass, mirrors, and anything slick and reflective would bounce back to him the same image of blurred light, but seeing as his vision registered unto him the bright orange of the setting sun, he didn't need to be sure.
He fidgeted slightly in place, as the flare of the sun before it dimmed into darkness always signaled the same thing. He shouldn't be out when it got dark, especially when he was without any of his other floormates. He knew he could trust Basil, but to find his own way back might be a challenge. He had already wandered pretty far off his usual course, and although he knew Basil would help him get back on course, he didn't want to get into trouble by coming home past curfew. That, and he didn't want to answer all the questions he knew were inevidable if he stayed out too late. He cringed before saying, "It's getting late. I didn't realize we had been talking for so long!" He didn't want to leave Basil -- he didn't want Basil to leave him -- but he knew it would have come sooner or later. "I should be getting home soon, or I won't be able to find my way back," he added, blushing slightly. He only saw this blindness as a hinderance; there was nothing good about it. Sure it enhanced his other senses, but what good was that if you couldn't find your way home after it got dark? Or even to see a friend's face...?
