Tallith's mighty jaws parted and flame erupted. His eyes whirled with the reflected colours of the flames and his hide danced with colour. Fighting in the sky like this made L'cian appreciate his dragon's strength and beauty.

To the left, Tallie.' He warned, the snaking thread cutting him from his admiration. The great brown gave a small snort and flamed again. The air filled with ash and L'cian was barely given time to raise an arm to keep his eyes from being soiled.

Thanks. He mumbled, though there was amusement in his voice.

All around them the dragons flew, this way and that, darting with such majesty that it was a wonder to see. L'cian straightened on his dragon's shoulders and glanced around. How fares our Wing? Report please Tallith.

Feronamth and Siventh fly well.

I don't doubt it. Casualties?

None. Our wing flies true.

The new fighters are coping well?

As well as we all do on our first flight with danger. Tallith chuffed in amusement and then twisted once more, taking the place of another dragon just in time to kill another clump of silver.

The call for firestone came down from above, and Remia and Trith were ready.

Go, my beloved. We are needed! Remia told Trith, who was already leaping into the air with powerful wingstrokes to take them high.

I hear, Mine, Trith responded, all business.

Then they were up among the wings, and Remia tossed a heavy firestone sack to the bluerider. Caught up in making sure the sack got there, Remia didn't notice the silvery clump heading in their direction until it was too late.

The green squealed in pain, and a heartbeat later, they were in the blackness of between, where the thread froze and cracked off. They reappeared above the weyrling area and immediately landed.

Her cheeks burning with shame, Remia immediately dismounted, and went to check Trith's flank. I'm so sorry, my beloved. I should have been watching closer, it's my fault you were hurt, she told Trith, though she was glad it was only a minor injury that would heal quickly.

Trith curved her head around towards her rider. You could never hurt me, Mine. We will do better next time. she said, though her eyes were tinged orange with distress.

K'njin caught the heavy back and quickly threw a large peice of firestone into the great blue's mouth who then tourched the clump of thread which the young green had flown into.

How is the green, Azuleth? K'njin asked.

She is in pain, but it is a minor injury, she will be fine, mine. came Azuleth's reply.

Shells that was close... K'njin sighed. That girl is worse than Heroe when it comes to danger.

The squeal of a pained dragon sent a shiver of terror down L'cian's spine, almost causing him to drop the firestone he had been handing to Tallith.

Almost instantly his head snapped around, scanning the sky. But already the dragon had blinked between.

Being Wingleader made L'cian worry greatly when a dragon was injured and instantly he reached for his dragon's mind. Tallith! Who was caught?

Green Trith. A minor injury.

Tell them to get the wound seen to. I don't want to risk a green rider in my wing. They are the speed. We need them.

Tallith did so.

Still pinked with shame, Remia hurried for the numbweed and bandages, being quick to apply them once she had them. Trith sighed in releif.

Now the question was, would they be allowed back up? Should they stay grounded because of the injury? Remia though the answer was yes, as they might need to go between again and you didn't do that with a wound, but she wanted to ask to be sure. She looked around for Farin, biting her lip with worry.

C'tari tensed watching closely for thread when the green trumpeted. He asked Feronamth with his feelings more than an actual thought and the bronze hesitated.

She is fine, already in the bowl. He opened his mouth then and a great flame destroyed a clump.

The riders make bets on thread score. Feronamth hissed, grumbling mentally and flamed another clump, diving then to get out of another dragon's flight pattern in perfect practice formation.

After the fall, tell me about it when this is over. He signaled then that he was soon to be out of firestone and Feronamth changed direction for a pick up.

Azuleth please inform the two dragons whose riders are betting that this isn't a game to play around with. K'njin growled. And that when the fall is over I would like to see those two personally.

Yes Mine. Azuleth replied just as he fired at another clump. MINE THERE IS A RIDER THAT CANNOT SEE THAT THERE IS THREAD ABOVE THEM! Before K'njin could act Azuleth knocked aside a bronze then swirved away before the thread could touch them and fired turned the thread to clumps

ARE YOU CRAZY!! K'njin yelled. THAT WAS A DANGEROUS MOVE!! YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN ALL FOUR OF US KILLED!!

We have been at this for a long time, mine. Snapped Azuleth I worry for the young rider.

You're just as crazy as Heroe... K'njin thought. She is yet another one I will have to talk to.

((If the riders K'njin is about to chew out are who I think they are, R'ael already told G'dor where to stick it for trying to make bets with him. C_C))

R'ael and Jaereth whirled, looking for more clumps when they heard the startled cry of the green, squealing in pain, and out of the corner of his eye, sees her and her rider vanish briefly from sight. He hadn't really gotten a sight of how bad the injury was, and it made his stomach flip flop nervously. The first injury of the flight, he prayed the last, had to have driven home to many how serious it was to be up here. Even for G'dor and his silly attempt to bet.

Jaereth....tell my idiot brother to be careful ok? He asked, tensing further as Jaereth blasted flame at another clump. Should we get some more stone?

Shortly we should, Mine, and I will of course.

G'dor grumbled under his breath at the multiple scoldings, gripping tighter to the harness as Queth ducked under another dragon to allow it over him towards the thread.

'You need to focus, mine.' Queth rumbled under him, turning his head back for another mouthful of the firestone. The sound of the dragon chewing it was almost enough to grind at G'dor's nerve- something he'd likely grow used to in time.

'Not you too...', He muttered back, dipping his head close to the dragon as he threw his head forward and let loose another burst of flame. The rider ducked a bit as flaming bits of the seared thread flew past them downwards. He had half a mind to tell K'njin to blow it out of his ear, far as he was convinced a friendly joke before threadfall was no reason to go in and get scolded- R'ael at least shouldn't have to go see him. 'Just don't say anything back, if he's concerned about talking being too much of a distraction then-'

'Jaereth's mine says to be careful.

G'dor paused mentally, slowly glancing over towards the blue and its rider, wincing a bit at the scream of a green as it was seared. 'Him too...'

Trith! Datiath shouted in N'tren's mind. He was fond of the green and his eyes tinged with anger and worry about his friend.

Concentrate on us! She is fine! Her rider takes care of her! N'tren shouted back.

That was the joy of being in the weyrling wing. Making sure the fighting dragons got their firestone without getting scored. N'tren looked long enough to make sure that green and rider were indeed okay before moving to the next bag.

N'tren was sweaty. And they were only about half way through Fall, maybe a little bit more. He could ask to be taken from firestone duty to tending the wounded but then he might have to listen to the others teasing him. So he just sighed and went on his next run.

R'ael himself reddened in angry humiliation at being scolded for something he'd refused, something he angrily notes that the older rider would know if they'd been filled in entirely.
Of course like the twins, maybe they heard exactly as much as they wanted to from their dragon. Maybe it was even because they weren't weyr born. WHo could tell? His own frustrations brought a flicker of red to Jaereths eyes, and a growl from him as well, before R'ael struggles to stiffle the quiet roil of anger at the unfair, uninformed judgement.
Truth will out. He noted certainly. Bullys always get theirs. Even older ones. He promised Jaereth. Lets get some more stone. What we're doing is more important than someone cleaning out their ears.
But it wasn't true, Mine. You made no bets. Jaereth grumbled, though he pulled away anyway to retreive firestone from one of the younger riders.
G'dor says to also be careful. He noted.

There is much chatter. Liliath hissed after a gout of flame left her mouth and charred a falling clump of thread. T'bell ducked the ashes and shook his head.

'Can't help it love, no one is very experienced yet.'

The green that got hit will be ok. She snorted again and dodged a clump she couldn't hit, instantly flaming another.

T'bell patted her hide. It was the first injury they knew of, and the squeal of pain had rocked them both. 'Keep going love. The trailing edge will be here soon.'

The great bronze dropped down and C'tari quickly threw off the empty bags of firestone and accepted the new full ones, not missing a beat he threw a chunck to Feronamth as they lifted away and got back into formation.

There is much frustration. Feronamth snorted and then bellowed flame searing the silver clump before them. We fly well. He seemed to be perplexed by the mixed emotions from all the different dragons which mimiced their riders. No major injuries, everyone staying in formation, very little getting through and yet everyone was tense. The bronze thought this fact a bit strange.

After the fall Fero. C'tari hated having to think about philosophical matters when their lives were on the line and he wondered sometimes how he and his dragon could be so closely linked and yet, often so different.

You will sleep after the fall.

He said it so matter of factly C'tari gave an audible 'harumph' then ducked to avoid being covered in the ash from a freshly burned clump of thread.
