December 27th, 2004. Sunday.
Everything's been passing in such a blur... Yeine's arrived from... well, wherever she was from. Eriol finally came home. And on Christmas... someone else came. I'm hiding him in the attic for now (did I even know we HAD an attic?), but someone's bound to find him soon. I hope Aunt Olivia can take care of him before that happens.
Did I mention our house moved? We didn't, the house did. As in, it's not where it was. Apparently, we now live in a town called Port Gino. Where lots of other people seem to live. I'll have to explore more soon.
Anyway, it was an eventful holiday, but a peaceful one too. Karan seems to be pretty popular. He got a fishbowl from Keita and Aureli, with two adorable black and white marbled fish inside. And the box from Demare actually had a squirrel in it! Which I'm not letting near Karan until I take it to a vet. I'm calling it Dusk for now... it's curious though. The eyes remind me of Karan's and Demare's. He also got a pendant from Huni-san (the letter K), and two cute plushies from Santa, one of which he gave to Eriol.
And another thing- a strange looking mirror. I don't know where it came from either. I didn't give it to him, and no one knows who did. But he seems pretty attatched to it. How strange.
I STILL need to buy him a crib.

jacknblack At the headquarters you notice a large pile of gift boxes... each box has been tagged with each of the legends.
It seems that Raven has been out and about and has discovered something wonderful. He writes in a letter attached to each gift:
i present to you a gift something to bring you new years lift
each is different and unique which can cause change that you seek
these are gifts you must use with care because reversal is none awares
-raven
It seems that this gift is for you and your legend:
Inside your gift you find a mysterious object:
(to open your gifts please post under this posts that you want to open your gift... then you can rp out when you see what you get, and you can decide to use your gifts or trade them with other legend owners. =D)

"What's the squirt got?" Eriol looked at Karan's hands in surprise, as they made their way home from the HQ.
It was a box, gold with a purple ribbon that Karan was chewing on. It was sparkly, and he liked it!
"Perhaps someone at the headquarters gave it to him," Ying offered as they made their way home.
Eriol nodded. "Mebbe. He should open it, I guess. Don't think anyone'd wan'it back after he's gone'n chewed it." He shifted the Legend in his arms so he could use his free hand to help the gift open.
Karan blinked as he pulled out a sparkly green crystal. It was shiny. Very shiny. But not too shiny. He tried to chew it, but stopped nearly immediately. Yuck!
"Looks like he's not too fond of it," Eriol smirked as he reached for the shiny rock.
Just because it didn't taste good didn't mean he didn't want it! Karan hugged the crystal to his chest tightly. HIS.
With a shrug, the older boy continued walking. "Whatever. It's yours okay?"
Yes, it was his... how he knew he wasn't sure, but it was his. Even if it did poke him a little.

Ying ran ahead as the small parade approached their final destination, but stopped just short of the door. "Eriol! There's a package here, for Karan." She gave herself a mental pat on the back for learning everyone's names so quickly, and looked expectantly at the older boy.
'You're pretty pop'lar, runt," Eriol smirked and rubbed the Legend's hair, perhaps harder than was necessary. "Who's it from?"
"Someone named Chandra, I think."
At the sound of his own name, Karan had turned his attention away from the sparkly crystal, which he had been trying to hide in his scarves. Something for him? He pushed the crystal aside and reached out, waiting for the present.
Ying smiled and unwrapped the gift. "Oh, how pretty!" A silvery swirl of a pendant shone from a plain black string. Underneath was a note, which the Jumi handed to Eriol after delivering the necklace to its proper owner.
"From death?" Eriol scowled at the note. "And it's a baby toy? I ain't sure 'e-"
"Mmrrrr..." Karan slipped the cord onto both his arms and grabbed at the charm. It was pretty, and almost reminded him of the shiny lady. Gurgling contentedly, he finally wrapped one hand around the smooth metal and brought it close to him.
A sigh. "Whatever. Don't blame me if that thing kills 'ya."

It was nearly morning, and the light that glowed dimly from outside at night was growing stronger and stronger. Time for sleep, Karan decided. It had been a good day- he'd finally gotten to touch the soft fuzzy thing on the back of the big boy. But then he'd made such a funny noise, and gotten mad, so that wasn't too good. But still, a good day all in all. Pleased with himself, he hooked one arm around his bright dragon plush, and squeezed the charm he'd gotten from Chandra in the other hand. Now he needed sleep.
After a few moments in this comfortable position, he frowned. Why wasn't the sleep coming? He'd never had trouble going to sleep when the light was coming before. Maybe it was too bright.
"There's no such thing, my boy."
Karan flinched. Even though the voice sounded friendly, its booming sound echoed in the Legend's mind painfully. Was there someone in the room again? He uncurled himself from his sleeping pose and with his free hand, pulled himself up to look over the edge of the box.
And instantly regretted it.
A column of light was in front of the window. Not nice light like the lady's had been, but hard, hot, fiery light. It seemed to burn everything it touched, even though it was consolidated into one sole cylinder.
Out of the light stepped a person. A person wearing polished golden armor. Every inch of it gleamed as brightly as the light it was born from, and it was covered with intricate designs and patterns. Despite the fact that the metal curved and bent, creating grooves and niches, it bore no sign of shadows, nor did the figure of the being itself. It was impossible to tell the gender of the person until they removed the magnificent golden helmet they wore. A man's face looked down at the boy, his bronzed skin shining every bit as brightly as the armor he wore. Copper colored hair adorned both his head and face, but was cropped neatly, not a hair out of place. He was truly an awe-inspiring visage.
Karan hated it.
He wasn't sure if it was the light, or the man, or the fact that he was there without asking, or the fact that he was tired and wanted to sleep. All he knew is that something was very wrong, and that any reason the man had to be there wasn't good.
"You needn't be afraid of the light, my boy." The man smiled, revealing pearly teeth that shone as brightly as the rest of him, but there was no trace of joy or pleasure in his face. "It reveals everything for what it is. It wasn't meant for illusion, which is why you look the way you do now. I knew it wouldn't last for long... deception is best left to those who deal in shadows. In false hope." Gauntleted hands clenched into fists, and thick reddish eyebrows furrowed in anger which the man didn't bother hiding.
That didn't sound right. Karan liked shadows. He liked light too, but he didn't like too much of it.
"Nonsense. There is no such thing!" His voice grew even louder and more grating against Karan's ears. "Do not trust the shadows. They only want to trick you by offering artificial truth. The light, the sun, those reveal the tricksters for what they really are."
It was almost like the man was talking about the shiny lady. Their visits were kind of the same. Except she was nice and didn't yell at him.
The man's eyes widened, and Karan noticed that they were the same shade of gold as his own left eye. "She has seen you. Did she say anything? Did you believe it?"
The legend started to shiver, despite the growing heat in the room. Why did the man want to know about the shiny lady? He wasn't going to hurt her, was he? She was nice, she gave him a pretty thing and made him feel happy.
"You aren't to trust her. Give it to me." The man's lips pressed together firmly, and he thrust one of his hands towards the boy.
What was Karan supposed to give the man? And why? He liked his shinies, and he wasn't going to give them to the yelling man.
Armor clattered audibly as the man started to shake, but not from fear. "My patience is wearing thin, boy. Give me whatever it was that the moon gave to you!"
Karan sat himself on his bottom, folded his arms, and shook his head, a picture of childish stubbornness if one discounted his shivering.
"I won't ask you again!" This time his hand dropped onto the edge of the box, jostling it and its contents. He waited for a response, but recieved none. "You are foolish to trust her! She cares nothing for anyone but herself!" Nothing. "She will destroy you!" With every exclamation he shook the box harder, but to no avail.
It took every bit of Karan's minute strength to keep himself in the box. Once everything settled, and the man paused to catch his breath, he looked up and stared him down, giving a cold, loathing look.
It startled the man enough to make him back away, but he quickly recovered. "You will be sorry for this choice. And you have not seen the last of me, boy!" His face twisted into something between a frown and a smile as he stepped backwards into the light. "You will learn to love the light!"
The man vanished, but the light, if anything, grew more intense. The room lit up as the glow of the pillar spread over the whole room, searing everything it touched.
Karan's eyes, his skin, everything burned. All he could see was whiteness, a white that was blindingly bright. It was unbearable; he longed to shut his eyes, but he couldn't. Even if he could, the damage was already done. All he could do was scream.
The door of the room was flung open and DS ran inside, one hand on her head, the other outstretched towards the box. "It's okay, it's okay..."
The light had died down a little, but it was still white-hot in his mind. Where was the voice coming from? Karan looked around, but all he could see was light.
DS reached into the box and picked up the scared Legend, wiping nearly dry tears away from his face. "It's okay... everything is okay" She reached down again and retrieved the pendant from Chandra, dangling it in front of his face. "See? It's okay..."
There was no reaction from Karan, other than to stare blankly back up at the ceiling and cling to the woman more tightly.
"Karan?" DS frowned and touched the tip of the charm to the boy's face lightly, letting him feel the cool metal before lifting it up again.
What was that? His arms extended upwards, trying to reach whatever it was that had touched him with its refreshing cold.
After watching him flail, his arms waving uselessly several inches from where the charm was dangling, it dawned on her.
"He... he can't see it..."

Doctor Mendlen paced back and forth, deep in thought. "It appears to be temporary blindness resulting from exposure to overly bright light." He frowned, then turned to his patient. "You're lucky though, as it appears to be temporary. It should clear up within a couple of days."
"Thank goodness..." DS turned her attention to the examination, where Karan was finally sleeping. "Thank you so much."
The doctor smiled. "It's not a problem. I'll give you a prescription for some eyedrops that should help clear his vision, and ease the pain." After a moment's pause, he continued. "It's funny though. The damage to his right eye is far worse than that to his left. I can't even imagine where he would find the light to do that to himself, especially in the middle of the night. It's almost as if he stared straight into the sun for a while."
"Into the sun..." She gazed at his sleeping form distractedly. How did this happen? Everyone had looked after him, and he'd been fine. Was this her fault?
"... you'd like it?"
Shaking off her self-blame, DS looked up at the doctor. "Beg pardon?I didn't quite catch that."
"I've got the prescription here for you, if you'd like it." Doctor Mendlen smiled sypathetically. "He'll be okay in a day or two. I'm more worried about his skin coloring, and his hair-"
"That's normal, for him." She took the scrap of paper from the doctor and pocketed it. "Thanks for your help, Doctor Mendlen."
Karan fidgeted in his sleep, which was blissfully free of dreams, and sighed.

Faevan "Go on." Faevan parked her car by the curb, checking the address again. "This is it." Prana nodded her head, getting out of the car and carefully carrying a small cardboard box with little holes in it. A muffled "ribbit" drifted out of one of the holes, and she left it gently on the doorstep with a smile, turning back to the car. On top of the box, she left a note. It fluttered in the breeze as the Legend and her Guardian drove away into the afternoon.Note for Karan Hi Karan, I caught these yesterday when I was out with my Mom, and thought you might like to have one. Please take good care of him. ~Prana

January 11th, 2005. Tuesday.
My life is a mess.
For one thing, the kids found out about Lionel. I knew I shouldn't have kept him in the attic, but what choice did I have? It was Eriol who found him first, but no surprise there. So I brought him down, told them he'd be a guest for a while, and that he comes from a place with no technology. And mentioned he should listen to them.
Listen to me. I'm telling a grown man to listen to my kids. MY kids.
On top of that, we've got another houseguest. That big rock I sent Eriol way back in the summer, when I was looking for Linnea with Sneaky, turned out to be a PERSON. She says she's a Jumi. The Jumi of Raspberry Garnet to be precise. All I know is she's another person. And while she's an absolute dear, I'm getting worried about numbers. I know we have enough room for everyone thrice over, but I know Eriol felt like he was part of a collection, and I don't want him, or anyone, to feel that way ever again.
Did I mention that Karan went blind? I don't know how, but I awoke yesterday morning to hear him screaming. And when I went to check on him, he couldn't see. So of course I rushed him to the doctor (Dr. Mindlen, very reliable, so I hear), who told me that it's only temporary. Thank the gods. And that it sees to have been caused by exposure to bright light. How that happened is beyond me. Which bothers me too. Do I even know what these kids do anymore?
Oh yes, and Pink is pregnant, Prana is now a grown child, the horse that Buffy sent over for Christmas is big enough for the younger kids to ride, and there are elves in the backyard.
If this is what happens when I sleep, then just keep the caffine flowing. I know, it's unlikely that I'll sleep for a week any time soon. I don't care.
I need a vacation. Ha.
~DS
PS- I just took Karan to the HQ to play, and he managed to cut himself. Just what kind of a guardian am I anyway?

Karan opened his eyes. It was becoming easier to see, though most things still looked a bit blurry or hazy to him. But he was definitely in his box, that much he could tell, and he let out a soft squeal of delight.
When everything first vanished, the tall lady- had Xue called him Des?- had taken him out of his box, and put him in some kind of fluffy prison. It was flat, and didn't have any walls, and he'd nearly fallen off it the first time he was put there. After that, she actually held onto him when he was asleep. How creepy.
But now he was back in HIS box. His space, to do what he wanted to do, and go where he wanted to go. With all his stuff-
A horrifying thought occured to Karan. What if someone moved his stuff while he was gone? It would be a good reason to make the Des lady move him for a while. The thief would have more than enough time to take his stuff and hide it somewhere before he was the wiser about it.
There was only one thing to do- take inventory.
His plushies were quite obviously there. He could feel both their heads, and see the base forms of them brush against eachother, black with yellow. They were the first things he ever had, except his scarves and his charm, and the weird looking clear bowl. That had always intrigued him, but the Des lady wouldn't let him hold it. He would have to find it sometime soon, to make sure the thief didn't get it.
His hand brushed a round object that gave slightly when he squeezed it. The ball. Des lady gave it to him on the day that the big tree was up. It had lots of other little balls in it, unmoving, yet he could feel their motion nonetheless. He scratched the rubber with his finger to make sure it was the right thing, and rolled it across the box. It hit the plusheis, but not without some effort on Karan's part to push it over all the pillows that lined the box. At least his stuff was together.
He knew he couldn't check on the other stuff, like the ringly bell and the star lantern and the clear bowl and the silver stick. Not without Des lady anyway. That would have to wait. Dusk would have to wait too, since he slept in a big clear box across the room. That would have to be changed too, once he could figure out how to get there.
Now he had to make sure his super-special secret shinies were still there.
Well, maybe they weren't so secret. Des lady and the big boy knew about a couple of them. But not all. And they were his, not theirs, so he would get to know their secrets, not them.
The first thing Karan decided to look for was the swirly pendant from the moon girl. He had shoved it behind the really big fuzzy pillow. At least, he thought he had. But when he reached a hand behind the pillow, all he could feel was the cool cardboard of the box.
PANIC! What if the theif had taken it? Would the moon girl get mad? Would she not give him any more shinies? Would he never find his swirly shinie again?
Fretting terribly, Karan's hand groped at his left side for his special sparkly charm. It poked his hand a little, snagging on the bandage that Des lady had wrapped around his cut, so he shifted his grip on it, and another metallic object bapped his wrist.
Oh yeah... Des lady had put them together. Right. He knew that. Of course. No one could deny it, since no one had seen him panic. Because he hadn't panicked. Right.
Where was the round shiny?
He found his next special shiny without incident (hidden inside a paisley pillow that was torn in the back), and held it out. He couldn't tell if it was him not seeing right or not, but the shiny round thing didn't look too round anymore Or shiny. It was still mostly round, but more than half of the circle was a dark gray color, and didn't shine like the rest did.
Dismissing it as his eyes being annoying, he located his last special shiny (underneath two velvet pillows). He still wasn't sure if he liked it. It didn't taste good. Not that his other shinies tasted good, but still. It poked him. And it wasn't silvery. Or goldy. It was a weird greeny color that reminded him of the smushy peas Des lady had tried to give him for dinner.
But it did make the light very pretty, he'd discovered. And that was worth it.
DS watched from the doorway, hidden by the opened door, a soft smile on her face. She had been watching for a couple of minutes, and it brought joy to her heart to see how much better the boy was doing.
Karan held the crystal up above the rim of the box, a feat which involved him standing up while keeping a firm grip both on the crystal on the box. Once he'd done that, he put his hand in front of him, and watched in awe as a stray afternoon sunbeam hit the crystal. It illuminated, seemingly from the inside, and cast bits of light all over the room, even onto Karan himself. He nearly dropped the prickly shiny onto the bed, but regained control of it, biting the inside of his lip as one spike jabbed him where the bandage was. That hurt!
But it had been worth it, he decided.

January 17th, 2005. Monday.
Thank the gods, Karan seems to be all better now. Still, ever since he cut his hand, I've kept him away from the HQ. I can tell he's been bored, but I didn't want to risk him hurting himself again. I don't know how he managed to do that anyway, but thankfully the cut was neither deep nor long, and it healed up cleanly. He didn't even seem bothered by it, except when I put the ointment on it. He fussed with the bandage too.
His sight seems to have returned completely. He was still disoriented a couple days ago, but not he's getting around just like he used to. I'll have to take him in for a playdate now that he'll be able to manage it better. I should take him in to see the doctor too, but I can't reach him. How strange. Then again, considering the kind of weather we're having today, he might be on vacation or somesuch.
I hate to admit it, but I would love to join him. A vacation. Alone. But Eriol isn't old enough to watch everyone, and I wouldn't want to put that burden on him anyway. How they managed while I was... incapacitated is beyond me. I know most of them are old enough to help out, but taking care of Karan and Linnea too... I should feel lucky to have such great kids. But all I can think of is escaping for a day or ten.
Well, let's face it. I had my day, and I wasted it. Back to work.

January 21st, 2005. Friday.
Aye aye aye. I never thought I'd miss the dour, sulky baby I had a few weeks back, but I nearly do. It's exhausting trying to keep up with him, and keep him entertained. He's practically giddy, all night. Yes, night. He's still pretty much nocturnal, and it's driving me nuts. I can't sleep at night, I can't sleep during the day... I can barely squeeze a couple hours in at dawn.
Lionel's got himself into a mess too. Ended up with an exchange student from another planet. An empath. Who hates Gaia. Don't know why. Eriol's taken her to the Academy, I brought her with me when I took Karan to the HQ... boy, did she clash with Pink there.
Karan had fun though. He saw Guinie, and seemed genuinely pleased. Dusk wasn't as happy, since Guin had some pet of her own there that talked, surprising both Dusk and Karan. We had to go pretty soon after, but I'm glad that at least he got to play. Maybe I can take him in again tonight. I hope he calms down some, at least.

Playing ball with Demare...
Playtime Xiao's tail swished a little bit behind him as he quietly stepped into the lobby, Demare resting in the nook of his right arm. He came only as a request of Neko, since she was currently unable to leave the house, and was a bit surprised to see the place empty. She said there would be others here, did she not? The tahnee fox passed the thought aside, however, and stepped over to the couch, deciding to wait for a little bit before heading back home.It was an excuse to get him out of the house, wasn't it? After what happened with Micheal and the sprockets this morning, Neko had been on edge and didn't need him adding to her stress. WHATEVER! That stupid demon... SENDING HIM AWAY! Of all the nerve... Demare's bi-colored eyes moved about the empty room, trying to find something to do while he was here. Boring... Boring BORing BORING. Eriol shoved the door to the HQ open with his shoulder, both arms trying to keep a grip on a very excitable baby. Frowning, more from annoyance than actual anger, he placed the child on the floor and sank into a chair. "Geesh... I dunno if ya do this ta Mom, but if ya do, no wonder she axed me ta take ya tonight."
If Karan heard or understood what his watcher said, he showed no signs of it. He was here, and here was where people were, and- person! Demare person! Best type of person there was, almost!
"Dah," he squealed, waving excitedly from his spot. Xiao's ears perked up at the sound of the door opening, looking over his shoulder to place his pale blue gaze upon the new arrivals. They seemed harmless enough... though the older of the two appeared to be angry with something. Turning around slowly, he noticed the child on the floor waving his hands excitedly. Hm... a friend of Demare's?Demare's eyes and wings twitched slightly. Great... it was HIM.
Is he ALWAYS here? Demian hissed in his mind, folding his arms across his chest in a huff.
It seems that we tend to be here at the same time... Clare responded, sounding a little disappointed with his other half. Why must you speak so ill of him, Demian? He's done you no wrong.
He's an annoying little twit. ...And he looks too much l--
I would appreciate it if you wouldn't speak of him like that. He's my friend...
You have an interesting choice of friends, then. After all, I used to be one of them.
If you're not going to let me through, then... please... Give him a chance today? Clare pleaded.
Demare sighed, unfolding his arms and lightly brushing his fingers along the charm from Chandra. He gave her a chance, right? ...Damn it.
FINE! I'll give your stupid friend a chance.
"Down," Demare demanded the tahnee, turning his gaze up to the fox for a moment.Xiao raised a brow at the child, but didn't hesitate at the command, gently setting the boy on the floor. Eriol looked over the other visitors curiously, but remained silent. He wasn't really in the mood for idle conversation.
YES! He was here, and coming, and everything was GOOD. It was nice outside, and everything was all better, and it was good. Not that he knew why it was good, but he didn't really care either. Not when there was Demare to play with!
Nearly giggling from the contained excitement, he grabbed the strap of a small bag next to him, and started towards his friend. Demare waited where he was, deciding it was better for Karan to come to him. Why should he have to move if he didn't need to? ...And what was that bag he was carrying?
Demian, remember to thank him for the gift, Clare reminded the demon.
...WHAT? he scowled.
The mouse... Remember? Leethral? Karan and his lady person give him to us.
I'd love to know why the heck you think I CARE.
Demian, please? Don't make me force you out...
Like you could, were Demare's thoughts to himself, hidden from Clare. Ugh... Being polite made no sense to him. As soon as he reached his destination, Karan plopped the bag in front of him and started to rifle through it. Part of its contents streaked out, chittering its anger loudly as it made its way behind the boy. But that wasn't what he was looking for, and his eyes lit up as he pulled out a rubber ball, a small model of the solar system suspended within it.
"Ah beah," he proclaimed, pointing to his eyes. "Pway?"
Prana ran full tilt into the HQ, a rather tired looking Faevan dragging her heels behind her. Faevan cast tired eyes on the full moon, muttering something about it making kids crazy, before finding her way to a couch. Prana's green eyes gazed about the HQ, looking for familiar faces. She hadn't been here in so long. Excitedly, she spied two little bundles she recognized. Calming herself, she walked over quietly, sitting nearby the toddlers.Demare quirked a brow at the ball before he leaned forward, inspecting the design closely. What was that? A bunch of round cirles surround by even MORE cirles... and in an odd fashion. For some reason, it intrigued him.
"Pay what?" he demanded, turning his gaze back to the boy.
Play what? He hadn't thought that far... as long as they played something it would be fun, right? And- PERSON! Good person! The nice big fuzzy person who made him feel better!
This time he waved both arms, yet again jolting the poor squirrel from his position. "Raaaa!" Demare's gazed turned from the boy up to the girl, trying to remember who she was. Another friend of Clare's, wasn't she? ...She looked different from the last time he remembered. Or was she like that the last time he was here? Nonetheless, he kept quiet for the time being, his wings cautiously curling around his small body. Prana smiled softly and waved to Karan, holding out her arms to the boy, not wanting to frighten him. He tended to be jumpy at times, she had noticed.
"Hi Karan. Hello Demare."
Karan couldn't believe his luck. Two absolutely YAY people were here to play with! How could it get any better?
One hand swatted the ball, which lazily rolled out into the open. The other kept beckoning Prana closer.
"Pway." "Hewwo," he said a little warily, but was quickly distracted as the ball began to roll away. ...It was.... ESCAPING! How DARE it flee from them! And they wanted to play with the ball, too.
Demare got up into a stand, and quickly waddled after the ball, reaching toward it in hopes that he'd catch it. ...It was running away from him... STUPID BALL! Perfect! They could chase it! That would be lots and lots of fun! Karan clapped happily as his way of cheering his friend on. Demare had almost reached the ball... In fact, he was so close that his fingers brushed against the rubber. However, his tiny little foot got too close, and he accidently kicked it further away.
"NUH!!" he cried, pouting as he continued to waddle after the ball. Come back! Stupid... thing!
Yay, the game was going well! Except for the fact that it was taking a long time for his turn to come. Demare would get the ball, he knew that. But then he'd be so far away. So he should chase it too!
Giggling, he started to crawl after Demare. Ball had better look out! Closer... He needed to get closer to the ball! He thought for a moment, his wings stretching out as much as they could as he took note that the ball was rolling FORWARD. If he were to get in front of the ball... Maybe it would work.
Flapping and fluttering his wings as hard as he could, Demare's body slowly and clumsily lifted off of the floor, allowing him to be suspended in the air while he tried to move faster than the ball. He could do it... He really could! ...But... flying kind of hurt. A lot.
"Nggghh!!" he reached his hands toward the ball again, his wings beating harshly in the air, once again able to brush his fingers along the surface.
However, his wings were quickly loosing momentum as they grew tired, allowing the child to fall closer to the ground.
MAYDAY! MAYDAY! CRASHING LANDING!!
Luckily, Demare had fallen on top of the ball, but not without rolling with it once and falling right on his head. This game SUCKED!! ...But useful. He could hurt people in this game? Hmmmmm.... Yes, useful indeed. It had started out fun, but as Demare fell, Karan let out a shriek. Bad! Falling hurts and hurting is BAD! And he couldn't get there fast enough!
Pushing up with his hands, he teetered, tottered, and started waddling over towards his fallen friend. It was hard staying balanced, but lots faster than crawling.
"Dmaah! Dmaah kay?" Demare was still clinging to the ball as he rolled down onto his back, his narrow bi-colored eyes glancing at the child approaching. He was... asking if he was okay?
Didn't... that hurt, Demian? Clare questioned, hoping his other half was okay.
...Well... Yes, but it wasn't that bad. Not like I haven't hurt myself before, he replied, looking up toward the ceiling for a moment. ...That was actually kind of fun.
You mean...!
Eh. Maybe he isn't so bad.
"I fine," he simply stated, rocking on his back a little bit until he could swing upwards into a sit. Fine? Good. Fine was good, and good is good. Good!
Legs finally giving out, he flopped onto his bottom, both scarves fluttering as he did to. As long as he was fine, and fine is good, then they could keep playing, right?
"Mah tun?" Demare blinked a few times, almost having forgotten about the game. Looking to the ball for a moment, he gave it a cold glare, as if to tell it to go to Karan instead of running away again. Finally, he let the ball go, and give it a small shove toward the other child, hoping it would behave. His turn! Finally, they were playing together! Huzzah! Almost falling over in his haste, he slammed his hands onto the ground and took off after the ball, scarves trailing behind him on the floor. He'd catch it now! It didn't LISTEN! It wasn't behaving! It... ...Hey. Maybe that was supposed to happen. Blinking a few times, he watched the other boy run after the ball just as he had before, and Karan seemed to actually be having fun. They were supposed to chase it...?
C-cheer him on... Clare's voice piped up.
WHAT?!
H-he was cheering you on... Maybe you should do the same?
Demare sighed lightly. Well, the sooner Karan caught it, the sooner the ball would be sent back, right? But... how does one "cheer" exactly?
"Uh... You can do it!" he cried out, his wings fidgetting a little bit.
He was even getting cheered on! Encouraged by the show of support, he put a little more oomph into his crawling and fell onto his stomach, as well as the ball. It didn't hurt much though, and he did it!
"Yah," he chirped, turning over on his side and pushing the ball back towards Demare. YES! SUCCESS! The cheering WORKED and now the ball was coming back to him. All right, he'd show that ball... Demare carefully stood himself up, clumsily stepping toward the moving sphere. He wouldn't let it get the best of him this time! No sir, not THIS time!
...Was he moving faster? The ball grew closer a lot slower than he'd expected, and he did his best to quicken his steps as he ventured onward. It didn't take him long to realize something as he stopped, however, wanting to wait a moment for the ball to catch up.
The ball wasn't moving.
How DARE it stop before him!! Demare, in a huff of annoyance, stomped right up to the ball, and gave it one swift kick, a bit surprised as is flew up into the air and began to bounce its way back toward Karan. It was... a jumping ball?? Karan's eyes widened as the ball bounced towards him. It... jumped? It never did that before! Maybe it was because it was with someone else. That had to be it. The ball was having fun too!
During the time it took to make this deduction, the ball had gotten closer to him. So close, in fact, that it was right in front of him. Closer... one more bounce and it hit the boy square in the chest, knocking him onto his back with a surprised "uuf!" ...Oops.
Demare did his best to waddle quickly over to Karan, looking down at the child as he reached him. Stupid ball... It attacked him. That had to be it. Though, down on the floor like that, there was something that seemed so... familiar to him.
Blinking once, he reached out his hand to offer help sitting back up.
"Kara okay?" he asked a bit quietly, as if not wanting anyone else to know what he was doing. "Sokay..." It really didn't hurt, much. The ball just wanted to play too, he was sure of it. But he was still grateful for the hand, and reached for it.
Before the child could quite grasp it though, he was intercepted. "Whoa... y'okay there squirt? I think we'd better getcha home."
Home? Now? Without finishing the game? No! That wouldn't be good at all! It would be boring and bad!
He down looked at Demare, eyes pleading for help. Demare's normally narrowed eyes looked normal for a moment as Karan looked down on him like that, a bit of a realization coming to him.
Hey, Clare...? Ya know something?
Hm?
...He remindes me a lot of how you used to be.
Eh??
Demare looked to Xiao for a moment. ...Nothing.
"I... go?" he finally said, looking up at Karan. "I come?" "Come?" What did he mean by that? Was he going to come with him? That would be GOOD. Very good. He looked up at Eriol hopefully.
Seemed like the runt was making friends. Good for him, but it did make him feel a little guilty for taking him home. He knew what it was like not to get to spend enough time with friends.
"Sorry squirt, but we're going home. So unless he wants to come home with us, we've gotta go." "I go!" Demare decided with a nod, his wings pulling close to his back.
B-but we don't have permissio--
The lady wanted us out of the house, right? It'll be fine... Foxman can explain later. It's not like we can't take care of ourselves.
But...
"I go," he said aloud again.Xiao finally stepped away from the couch and walked up to Demare, carefully picking him up from the floor as he looked to Eriol.
"He seems to want to go along," he said cooly, his tail swishing a little bit. "Perhaps... it would not be a bad idea, should your guardian be all right with that." Seemed the little guy was more determined than Eriol had given him credit for. Fantastic. Now he'd have to break it to two people.
"Well, we-" he broke off, taking another look at Karan's hopeful face, and sighed. "We'd be happy to watch him for a while. Mom won't mind." I hope, he added silently.
He was coming? YAY! Friend all night long, and lots of fun, and fun, and YAY.
"Now hold on, I'm gonna improvise."
Retrieving the bag of toys from the floor, Eriol jostled some of its contents, finally shifting Karan so his weight was mostly held by the bag. He was surprised that the child actually let him- it couldn't be too comfortable, and last week he'd nearly had his eye scratched out for less.
"Your turn," he muttered, crossing the floor to get Legend from his guardian. "And wouldja mind gettin th'door fer me?" Xiao nodded, stepping over toward the door.
"Forgive his intrusion... Should there be any problems, your guardian may contact us at any time," he explained as he reached the door and pulled it open, bowing a little bit.That... was almost too easy, but whatever. He was going somewhere NEW, and he'd at least have some real company for once. He looked to Karan for a moment before looking back to the fox tahnee, nodding a little bit. Tonight would certainly be different. "Sure thing," Eriol nodded in place of a bow, and headed outside.
YAY! Karan latched onto Demare's nearby arm, quivering with excitement. Friend meant it wouldn't be boring anymore. He KNEW that something good was going to happen, and it did! Demare's right eye twitched slightly as his arm was latched onto. Very different indeed...

Sleepover, part one Eriol pushed the door open to the house softly, hoping not to wake anyone. The hour was later than he had anticipated, so most people were likely to be asleep."Eri, sweets, is that you?"
DS rubbed her eyes as she sat up, the thin blanket that covered her legs slipping to the floor as she rose from the couch."Yeah..." Shutting the door behind him, he poked his head into the living room."Karan have fun?""Yeah... and we've got a guest."
Eriol entered the room fully, showing off his company.Demare's eyes narrowed a little bit as he peered about the room, his wings unwrapping themselves from around his body as he took in his surroundings. Definitely nothing like his own home... but it wasn't so bad, he decided. After a moment, his eyes turned toward the woman by the couch, faintly remembering her as Karan's guardian.DS frowned, her hands knitting themselves together in her lap. Yes, she'd seen that one before, many times. But what was he doing here?
"It's nice to see you again, Demare-kun." To Eriol, she shook her head. "What's the story, kiddo?"Flinching a little at the "kiddo," Eriol shrugged. "He want'd ta come, and the runt wanted him to. Figured it couldn't do any harm, eh?"Still wide awake and completely overjoyed, Karan's head bobbed enthusiastically, arms still wrapped tightly around his friend."No, no harm. You can go get them settled in Karan's room. I'll poke in shortly.""Mkay." Nodding, Eriol adjusted his grip on both infants and set out for the room in question.Demare seemed to relax a little once they were out of the presense of the guardian. There was just something about them all... It made him uncomfortable.
Demian, are you all right? Clare asked a little worriedly. The demon was acting a little more calm than usual.
I'm FINE, he insisted, looking at Karan for a moment. And how long is he going to stay attached to me? Geez...
I... wouldn't know. He's only ever touched me once before... and that was a simple hug.Karan looked back at Demare and grinned, his grip loosening slightly. He had a friend here. Demare was always cool and they got to play together all night and it wouldn't be boring. And even better, if Demare was here, then the big bad things wouldn't come back. Right? Oc course right!"Well, here we are squirts."
The room was mostly bare, compared to the others. Plain royal blue paint covered the walls. There was a desk underneath the unadorned window on the back wall, and a cot on either side of the room. One was occupied with a pale, sleeping figure. The other had a ragged blue quilt on top, and a cardboard box atop that was stuffed with pillows of varying designs and sized. An unfinished wooden dresser was crammed into one corner, which held a glass fishbowl and an empty cage.
"Home sweet home," Eriol said sarcastically.Glancing around the room for a moment, Demare was actually surprised. Did... all bedrooms look like this? Or was his just special? Granted, at home his own room as always containing some sort of creature at all times, all of the pixas, sprockets, and small critters being kept in there. He didn't mind since they were generally quiet company, but this... Karan's room just took the cake for being boring.
His eyes shifted to stare at the sleeping figure on one of the cots, a bit curious as to who it was. Karan had to share his room with someone...? Then again, it wasn't like Demare would have his own room forever, especially once Neko's feien returned home and the baby was born. And what was with the cardboard box??"When yer a little bigger, runt, we've gotta do somethin 'bout this room..." It was pathetic, really. Everyone else had decent looking rooms. But then, most of them put the ideas together themselves. This one would shape up soon. His room, his spot! Karan eyed the room as well, checking the status of it. The strange boy was asleep, but he didn't think he'd stay that way long. No one else around. And there was his box! He tugged Eriol's sleeve, finally releasing the captive arm to point at the box as his intended destination."Sure, sure..." Eriol put both Legends onto the cot, Karan inside the box, Demare just outside. "I dunno what we're gonna do with yer friend here, runt, so lemme go ask. Stay put, mkay?"
He patted both of them on the head and all but ran out of the room.Demare quickly placed his hands on his head as soon as Eriol had left, and it was all he could do not to throw a fit. PATTING ON THE HEAD!! GAAAAAH! He wasn't some lit-- ...Okay, so he WAS a baby, but it was still annoying. Especially after Neko kept patting his head so much when he first arrived here. Stupid... patting...
He blinked a few times as he realized where Karan was, placing his hands on the side of the box and carefully standing up to peer inside. ...This was where he slept?? It didn't look very comfortable... And there also didn't seem to be a whole lot a room in it. Why didn't he sleep in a crib?
"Like?" he asked curiously, quirking a brow. Did the boy like sleeping in the box...?"Yesh!" It was HIS box, after all. And he could change it to suit his liking, and hide things in it- which reminded him...
Reaching one hand behind a particularly fuzzy pillow, he pulled out a spiky green crystal, which twinkled in the moonlight that illuminated the room. After patting it delicately, he offered it to Demare for inspection.Demare looked at the crystal curiously for a moment, gently taking it into his hands to get a closer look at it. There was something... a little familiar about it. A soft aura of power...
It feels like...
Demian... It feels a lot like that crystal we got from Raven. The one that made that dagger.
Did everyone get one, then? I wonder what will happen with this one...
Clare's mention of the dagger made him realize something. CRAP! He left it at HOME!! He sighed a little bit, handing the crystal back to Karan as he plopped down onto his bum on the cot. Great... and he'd wanted to show it off, too."Pweedy?" Of course, it was too late for it to do the cool thing with all the sparkles, but it was still pretty, if a bit pokey.
He dropped the crystal onto the bed and rummaged through his pillows again, this time coming up with a small dragon plush in each hand. Demare had seen these already, but maybe he would want one for the night. Then they could both have one.
Both hands stretched towards Demare. "Tak un?"It was the dragons again. GREAT. ...Well... it was another form of company for him, at least. Reaching a hand up, he took the dragon from Karan's right hand and looked it over carefully before setting it in his lap.
"...Tank you," he said a little reluctantly, his wings drooping down a bit behind him.Watching the darker dragon join his friend, Karan hugged the lighter one, still keeping some distance between himself and the toy, and put it aside again, digging once more through the box. There wasn't much left in there, unless he wanted to pull out THAT...
Not yet. He didn't want to get that yet.
Instead, he used the box's edge to pull himself up, grasping for the charms at his side. One of them looked old, and he slid it down the coin-embellished chain. It wasn't that one he wanted to show yet, but the other- the silver one. Clutching at the near-crescent, he held it out, almost knocking himself and the box over in the process.Out of instinct, Demare rested a hand against the box, as if to keep it balanced. Peering at the silver charm for a moment, his hand absently reached for his own. It looked like...
Carefully, he held up his own pendant, slipping his fingers along the black string until the gold charm was high enough to reach the other boy. Save for the colors, the two pendants looked exactly alike.
"Chandra?" he questioned, wondering if it was from the same person. Why had she given them the same thing...? Or had that been on purpose?Karan's eyes widened as the other pendant was brought into view. They were... the same? Almost. The color of Demare's pendant startled the Legend a little, his left eye twitching. The shock only lasted for a brief moment though, and soon he was restored to his normal good humor.
"Moo gihl?" All he knew is that it came from the moon girl. And that he wanted to see her again...Now he had to know. Neko had mentioned something about the stones coming from death, after all, and if Karan had the same thing... Maybe it meant something. How he wished he could really talk right about now...
Nodding a little bit, he dropped his pendant back down, the gold charm landing on top of the dark dragon since it was in the way. ...That twitch... Did his pendant bother Karan? Thinking for a moment, he placed his hand over his own bi-colored eyes, then removed them, as if to make a point.
"See okay?" he asked, wondering when the blindness had cleared up.He thought he'd explained that already, but... "Yuh. Awh bettah." A cheesy smile accompanied his affirmation, disguising the last remnants of discomfort.
They were the same though... there were lots of same things about them, Karan thought, not for the first time. He wished he could ask about them too, but he had trouble forming ideas, much less words... but neither of them was going anywhere. He'd ask someday. The door creaked as DS pulled a thick fluffy quilt into the room. "You've caught us by surprise, Demare-kun. Hopefully you won't need much, but you should stay by the wall..."
Shaking the quilt out, she bunched it around both infants, using it as sort of a shield. "Now, go to sleep before I call the police on you."Demare blinked a few times, eyeing the blanket that was being stuffed around him. Sleep? She was ordering him to sleep?? ...Well, it was getting late, and he was getting tired... BAH! He took up the dragon plushie Karan had loaned him for the night and hugged it to his chest, wondering why he needed to keep to the wall. Instead, he rested his back against Karan's box, his eyes resting upon the guardian again for a moment.Heaving a tired sigh, DS headed to the dresser in the corner, pulling a squashed pillow from the top drawer. It was sorry looking, with a few feathers peeking out through a hole in the corner, but it was fluffy and big, which was what she needed. She fluffed it up a little, then placed it on the floor next to the cot.
"Sleep well, you two," she murmured as she exited.Hrm. She'd never done that before... oh well, no matter. That wasn't what bothered him anyway. But sleeping? NOW?
Karan glanced at Demare, curious as to what he intended to do.Demare's eyes followed her every move, even to her exit, before he leaned over a little bit to glance down at the pillow. ...Why was the pillow on the floor?
His narrow eyes peered up at Karan questioningly, as if expecting an answer to the event.Just as clueless, Karan shrugged. Maybe it was because he was here or something.
"Sleep naw?" He didn't want to, but if the other boy did, he'd try...Demare had to think about that for a moment. He hated being ordered to bed, and something about it made him uneasy. He'd go to bed when he was ready, he figured.
Shrugging a little bit, he pulled some of the blanket off of himself. "You wan?" he asked, his wings fluttering and flapping once to free themselves from the quilt."No." Karan's answer was clearer than most of his speech had been, and it wasn't entriely due to its simplicity. Even with all the light out, he didn't want to sleep yet. That he knew for certain.
But then, what would they do? Just sitting was boring. That wasn't why he wanted a friend to come home at all, to be bored.Demare began to look around the room for a moment, but his eyes kept falling back to the pillow, and so the sleeping person across the room. Who WAS that, anyway? He pointed at the figure, looking back to Karan for a moment, hoping to find out at least that much while he thought up a plan.Following Demare's hand, Karan looked across the room. Oh, that one. He still wasn't sure he trusted him...A feeling of annoyance mixed with curiosity invades the minds of both boys.
So, Kar has a visitor tonight? No wonder Xue woke up... whee And there was the reason why. Trembling a little, Karan looked back at Demare, wondering if he could feel it too.Demare's eyes widened at the voice, his wings stiffening at the intrusion. T-that wasn't Clare...
D-D-D-Demian...??? Clare piped up, his voice squeaking with fright. W-what was that?!
I d-don't know! I... I'm not sure where it came from... Demian replied, Demare's hands tightening around the dragon plushie. The figure in the other bed sits up, boucing a little. Head resting in his hands, which in turn are supported by crossed leggs, he looks over at the others.
Xue didn't mean to scare anyone... he just wanted to see who was there... sad
His distress was nearly infectious, and his hands scrunched together worriedly."H-how...?" Karan himself wasn't sure what the end of that sentence should be, but he had to ask something. Reaching behind the pillows again, one hand tightens around the charm on his waist, the other roots around searching for someting. That voice wasn't his... IT WASN'T HIS!! Why was it there?! Demare's bi-colored eyes frantically searched the room, seeing nothing but the odd child across the room. That kid wasn't TALKING, though... And the voice didn't belong to Karan, either.
"WHO?!" he demanded. Who was talking to him??Owww... the kid doesn't have to yell! Xue may not have ears, but he can hear just fine! gonk
And he's right here! Not talking, but... well, close enough.
To make sure there's no mistake, he waved one hand at them.Still nervous, Karan edged towards the far side of his box, trying to get as much distance between the kid and him as possible. He knew who it was, that didn't surprise him... but the how was another story altogether.Get out of my head... Demian hissed, Demare's hands coming up to grasp at his ears. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
"S-stop it..." he whimpered aloud. He was... scared. For the first time since his death so many years ago, Demian was afraid. He closed his eyes tight, his wings wrapping tightly around his body. What was talking to him...? It was strange... And it made him very uncomfortable. It took Karan a moment to realize that Demare was actually more scared than he was, and a moment more to decide that he had to protect him from... whatever it was. Even though the weird kid wasn't bad, he was scaring his friend, and that was bad. He had to take matters into his own hands.
For the time being, he settled for taking the rim of the box into his hands, using it as leverage. Once he was standing, he pointed a finger at the offending child. "Stop."But... Xue didn't mean to scare anyone! He's just confused, and the kids woke him up, and...
DES! crying Several rooms down, DS falls out of bed with a loud "thud" that could be heard by anyone who happened to be awake.Stop.
Demare opened his eyes slowly, his vision a little blurred as Clare and Demian were both in possession of the body, the confusion having forced them both out for the moment. His eyes shifted to look up toward Karan, the two red eyes above his right opening partially as he took in what happened.
He was... helping him?
"It's okay now..." Clare whispered to seemingly no one, the voice sounding a little more mature than Demare usually did. "Do you understand, Demian?"
The child was quiet for a long moment as he continued to stare, the two extra eyes closing once more. "I think... I do..." Demian said quietly, closing his eye for a moment. "But trust is still a bit away."
You'll see in due time... It'll all be okay one day.
Demare opened his right eye again, his wings unwrapping themselves from around his body and his hands slowly dropping back down to his sides. Somehow, he was feeling a little better, but there was still something about that other boy...DS burst through the door to the room, splintering the frame a little. "What the heck happened in here?"Xue was asleep but Kar and his friend woke him up and he was just saying hi but they got scared and Xue doesn't know why he was being nice and then they got mad and and... crying Sigh. She should've known better than to mix young children with empaths... especially if one was a young child AND an empath.
"Xue, it's... well, early. Go see if you can sleep in Melete's room for a while, okay?"Xue can sleep with Mel? surprised
Not needing to be told twice, he hopped off the bead and scurried out of the room- but not before waving once more.During this, Karan had taken the time to check on his friend. He looked a little better now, but just in case... "Dmah kay?"Demare nodded slowly, taking up the dragon plushie again. What was that kid, anyway...? He didn't LOOK like a human... and he didn't seem to talk at all. Or was that who was talking to them?
Blinking once, he looked up toward Karan for a moment, trying to figure out what to say. ...But, what was there to even say?
"Tank you..." he decided would be good enough, looking back to the plushie again."Wecum," Karan replied cheerily. It looked like everything was good again. And good was good. That was all he had to think about now. Everything was good."As for you two... why aren't you asleep yet?"Maybe not so good after all.DS hardly expected an answer, or even a reaction, but felt the need to give a mini-lecture anyway. Wouldn't hurt, after all.
"It's going to be MORNING soon. If you don't get some rest, don't expect another playdate anytime soon."
Leaving it at that, she adjusted the pillow on the floor and left.Orders. Orders orders ORDERS. He would NOT be ordered aro--... Demare stiffled a yawn as he peered back down toward the odd pillow on the floor again. Why was the guardian lady so conscious of that pillow? ...A smirk curled upon his lips as she left.
Maybe he should take the pillow.
...But what if that's what she wanted him to do?
DANG IT. Looking up to Karan again, he pointed toward the worn out pillow and asked, "What for?"Looking at it again, Karan shrugged and shook his head. The Des lady'd never done that before, so he didn't know why she did it this time.
"Seep now?" His voice was reluctant; the night was still fresh and it called him. To do what he wasn't sure, but if he slept, he'd never know.Demare sighed lightly, rubbing his eyes a little bit as he leaned back into his sit, then taking the plushie with his left arm to hug it to himself.
"Sleep... now," he said with a nod. He was rather tired... And if anything, they could do stuff in the morning. It wasn't really the guardian's threat that had him worried, however, as he looked up at Karan one more time. The other boy didn't look tired at all. Was he always like that...?Well, if he was tired, then Karan wouldn't get in the way. He would try to sleep. But he wouldn't be surprised if he stayed awake all night long.
Sighing softly to himself, he snuggled deeper into the mass of pillows. "Nigh~"Demare watched the boy disappear into the box, wrapping the quilt around himself as he rested his back against the box once more. He stared at the wall for a long moment, thinking about the day's events, and recalling something from the past. Perhaps... being in the company of another again wasn't so bad after all.
Closing his eyes, he whispered softly as he fell into slumber. "Nigh' nigh'..."

It took a surprisingly short time for Karan to fall asleep, yet it seemed much longer to the infant as he stared wide-eyed out the window. At least things out there changed. The wind blew the trees around, the sky got darker, the clouds covered the moon as everything faded to black... the room started to glow...
Karan started and tried to rub his eyes, but found that he couldn't move his body. In fact, he couldn't even see it, or feel it. It was as if the only thing that still worked was his vision, and even that was messed up. The room he was looking at certainly wasn't his own. The walls were much lighter in color, a pale gray, and further away from him. And there, a short distance away from him, was a familiar person.
"I just don't know, my darling." A tall woman draped in white silk pulled a strand of silvery hair away from her face, bending closer to the globe she was studying. It reminded Karan a little of the ball he had, only this one was much larger, and perfectly clear. Not even air bubbles or cracks appeared in the shining surface.
"I know it's cloudy," she continued in her soft voice, unaware of Karan's presence, "but I should at least see something. Tonight is my night, after all. Unless..."
"Unless a certain someone is interfering." Another figure emerged from a behind a glimmering curtain, dressed in robes made of much the same material. Her skin was as pale as the other woman's, and just as perfect, even though she was shorter and seemingly younger. Her hair was cut just above her shoulders and jet black, except around the edges and her long bangs, which were also the same silvery color as the woman she approached, one hand outstretched. "It wouldn't be the first time, mother."
The older woman sighed and sank into a chair, putting one hand to her eyes. "I know, my dear. But I can't lose this chance. If I do, he might hurt him again..."
"And what better way to get him on our side? If he believes that Hell would hurt him, wouldn't he trust you more?" The girl took a seat at the opposite side of the globe, laying her outstetched hand on the surface of the globe delicately.
"You know I don't approve of that nickname, my dear," the woman frowned, clenching her hand into a fist and biting it in a most unladylike fashion.
"I'm sorry mother." Looking down into her lap, the girl heaved a sigh. "But you know, he's not the kind who would-"
"That's quite enough. What kind of man he is happens to be irrelevant." Calming tones had started to give way for a sharper, colder voice. "It is who he is, and what he plans to do, that concerns me. If he tries a stunt like that last one again, he might as well kill the boy."
A faint smile danced around the girl's lips as she looked up. "Everything will work out, mother. I can see that it will, and I will make sure it happens for you."
The woman closed her eyes briefly in thought and nodded. "Of course it will," she crooned, cupping the girl's cheek in one hand, her chin in the other. "Of course it will, my daughter."
It disturbed Karan to no end that no matter how hard he tried during this exchange, he could neither move towards the women, nor make any noise to announce his presence. A small bit of him felt bad for intruding, however he had managed to do it, but mostly he was curious. And of course, anything that involved the nice shiny lady had to be good, right?
The girl had been smiling and allowing herself to be held by the woman she called mother, but a scowl soon worked her way onto her face as she was dropped abruptly. "Mother, what is it?"
"Someone is here."
"That's impossible. This is your sanctuary; no one can enter without your blessing."
"All the same, someone is here. But who?" A bit of paranoia had turned out to be her salvation as she rose from her seat, scouring the room for intruders.
"Mother, perhaps you should rest. If there's a rat in hiding, I will remove them."
"I think I will. Take care of things then, my dear." Yawning slightly, the woman retreated behind another curtain, yet her easy demeanor had been corrupted during the alert, and it was with some stiffness that she pulled the curtain back to seal her entry point.
Was he the intruder? But he wasn't really there, was he? After all, he couldn't move, couldn't talk... but he could see, so that had to mean something.
"Go."
The girl turned slowly, facing away from the globe finally, and looked directly ahead of her- directly at the spot where Karan's eyes would be, if he could figure out where his body was. Instead, her own eyes dominated his vision. While the girl seemed to have many things in common, the one feature that differed vastly was her eyes, which pulsed darkly. She had no pupils, no color. Only black, a black that seemed to absorb all light around them. Flecks of silver were visible, but only barely, and they had no glow to them at all. More than anything yet, except perhaps the bright man, Karan feared this girl.
"GO!"
Karan blinked and found himself staring at the plain blue walls of his own room. The only person visible was Demare who appeared to be fast asleep. The room itself was silent, and faint sunlight was starting to appear at the bottom of the windowsill.
Was it a dream? Or was it more than that? And who were those people?
Mind filled with questions, Karan turned over and immediately lapsed into a dreamless sleep.

Sleepover, cont. Demare's left eye slowly opened as sunlight poured into the room, the white eye trying to adjust to the brightness as the child stared blankly at the royal blue wall in front of him. This wasn't his room... His walls were still white. Wait... That's right... Demian had decided they would stay at Karan's for the night. Opening his right eye, the little baby pulled himself forward a little bit so he could flutter and flap his two wings, stretching them out while he continued to wake himself up.
It had been a long while since he had been able to sleep like that... Being allowed the pleasure to dream and Demian actually leaving him alone. Come to think of it, why did he get to be in control right now? Was it because Demian was actually sleeping? Or did the demon let him through...? Nonetheless, Clare wasn't going to let his time go to waste. Lifting a hand to cover his mouth, he yawned quietly and did his best to stand up on the cot that was, for the most part, Karan's bed. Turning around, he placed his hands carefully on the edge of the box and stood on his toes, his large bi-colored eyes peeking curiously inside to see if his friend was even awake.
Karan was curled around the lighter dragon plushie, fast asleep. His body seemed tense even during his slumber, but what of his face was visible was relaxed in comparison.
DS pushed the door open carefully, trying not to disturb anyone who happened to be sleeping. The visitor looked awake, she observed as she tiptoed in, but her own Legend was asleep as usual. Really, she would have do do something about that.
"Good morning, gentlemen," she exclaimed loudly, "for it is a good morning indeed!"
That was enough, though just barely, to distrupt Karan's rest, and he opened his left eye sleepily. Morning? Already?
Demare was caught a little off-guard as DS spoke, having not heard her come in, and he lost balance, falling right onto his bum with surprise. Looking at the guardian with wide eyes, he blinked a few times before smiling sheepishly, his wings shifting a little behind him.
"Hewwo," he said quietly with a little wave of his hand, his other hand reaching for the dark dragon plushie Karan had let him sleep with. He had to give it back, after all... It needed to be safe!
It took DS all of two seconds to melt into a puddle of ooze from the utter cuteness of what she was seeing. Much as she'd hated being called adorable and precious when she was younger, she couldn't help wanting to take the boy and give him a great big hug.
Restraint didn't come easy, but it came. "Hello yourself, little one," she grinned. "And hello to you, my little night owl."
Was she talking to him? He wasn't a bird... he didn't even have wings. But he nodded all the same, stretching on arm up into the air and the other into the side of the box.
"I don't know when you have to go home, Demare-kun, but I think we should get you some food before leaving."
...Funny. He didn't know when he had to go home, either. He merely smiled and nodded, looking toward the box after a moment when he realized that Karan was indeed awake.
...Wait. He got to eat?? It had been a while since Clare was in control of the body during meal times, so it was probably a good thing that souls didn't get hungry. Food sounded rather good, however... His stomach told him so.
Food did sound good. He was usually asleep in the morning, so he wouldn't have anything until lunchtime at least, but he realized that now that he was awake, he was hungry.
"Alrighty then, since I'm not hearing any complaints, breakfast it is." It took a moment to figure out how to carry both babies at once, and DS finally decided that one in each arm would be best. Bending over, she cautiously grabbed each one and pulled them towards her, and once she was balanced, teetered back out the door and towards the kitchen.
"Hey, who's that?"
"Ying, yer supposed ta flip the pancakes!"
"Be careful, that looks hot..."
"I say, please don't wave that around at this hour!"
Karan stared at the kitchen, completely awake. What were all those people doing there? He'd seen them all before, but never at the same time...
"This is Demare, a friend of Karan's," DS annouced to the kitchen. "He'll be joining us for breakfast. Right?" She looked at the boys for their approval.
Demare had lightly grasped onto DS' shirt when she picked him up, dropping the dragon plushie onto the cot before they left the room. Upon spying the kitchen, however, a bit of an odd sensation overwhelmed him.
There were so many strangers... So many people he didn't know. While they seemed to be a part of Karan's family, he began to feel a little nervous in their presense, a slight fear rising within him. They wouldn't hurt him... He knew that. So why was he so afraid?
Shyly, he began to sink into DS' arm, his wings cautiously curling around himself as he did his best not to be troubled. He had to stay calm... He had to keep Demian asleep...
It was a little overwhelming to Karan too, but he reached over to lay a protective hand on Demare's arm. Even if he wasn't as big yet, it was his house and he'd protect his friend from... whatever he needed protecting from.
"Okay, headcount," DS muttered. "Lionel, Eri, Yeine, Ying... where's Xue? And Melete?"
"Haven't seen Mel this mornin. Xue neither."
"Linnea?"
"She's asleep."
Taking this into consideration, DS nodded. "I think I'm gonna take these two out for breakfast. Too many people here."
It was a good idea. Even though Karan was determined to be the strong one, if only by a little, it was getting harder to keep up the front with everyone staring at him. The suggestion of leaving was warmly welcomed, but he looked at Demare to make sure it was okay with him.
Demare looked up at the guardian woman for a moment, trying to figure out what she said. Take them out for breakfast? What... exactly did that mean? He'd never really eaten outside of his home before, so this was all a little strange for him.
Looking to Karan, he felt rather comforted that his friend was letting him know he was there, and he reached up a little hand to take Karan's in his own. Demare smiled a little bit, as if that would answer any question someone had; he'd go where ever Karan wanted to go.
The simple gesture did a world of good for Karan's plummeting confidence, and reassured by way his own reassurance, he smiled.
"It seems settled then. Lionel, you're in charge, so don't screw it up."
The man in the frilly apron scowled and tried to gather whatever shards of dignity he had left. "I won't."
It would be a tad troublesome to carry them both all the way to the nearest diner, but probably better than dealing with a pair of fussy babies in addition to hungry kids and disgruntled nobility. Mind made up, she nodded, more to herself than anyone else. "Let's go."
Only one question remained in her mind- where to? Still, that would be easily figured out once she decided how to get wherever she was getting, and as another idea popped into her head, she started towards the backyard.
"Sirius," she called as she approached a large tree, "could you do me a favor?"
A large black creature fell from the tree, red wings fluttering gracefully as it landed on four yellow-tipped paws. "What?"
What indeed. What WAS that thing? He didn't remember seeing it before, but seeing it now made Karan start to shiver, mostly at the sheer size of the creature. It was even bigger than his guardian!
Demare blinked as they headed outside, and his eyes grew a little wide as the creature appeared from out of the tree. It was.... HUGE! But so black and pretty... It kind of reminded him of some of th--...
Demare's bi-colored eyes turned toward Karan as the other boy began to shiver, curious as to why he was scared. Was there something threatening about the creature...? Nonetheless, his grip on the boy's hand tightened slightly, reassuring him that he was there and he wouldn't let anything happen. He smiled a little bit to his friend again, hoping that would help.
"Kara okay," he said softly, his wings shifting a little bit.
It was pretty, yes, but so big! And so dark... Karan couldn't help but feel unsettled as he took the creature in. Still, he was with his friend, and let himself surrender the role of protector. At that time, he definitely felt more vulnerable.
"Where?" The creature pawed at the ground nervously, seemingly as uncomfortable around the children as they were around him.
"A diner. Cafe, drive-thru, anything. We're all hungry. Aren't you, Sirry"
Wincing a little at the name, he nodded. "Fine." He lowered himself to the ground, making it easier for DS to get herself seated just behind his wings, which started flapping as soon as she was ready. One leap, two, and they rose slowly, leaving the ground behind.
Once again, Demare's eyes widened at the event. The creature could fly! ...Wait, THEY were flying! His own wings began to fidget a little as he looked around, watching as they left the ground before looking to Karan. This was so awesome!
Karan wasn't sure whether to be thrilled or terrified, and settled on a 60/40 mixture of the two. Still, he was grateful to have Demare's hand to cling to more than ever, as the sight of everything becoming smaller was startling. Yet absolutely beautiful.
Once she was sure that her charges were okay, DS set about looking around. "There," she pointed down, "let's go down there."
As they began to descend, still quite a ways from the ground, Karan tried to make out what they were going to. Green? No... it was trees. Trees, and a lawn. Were they going to land in a forest?
Demare looked to where DS was pointing, curious as to where she was telling the creature to go. What was that place...? It didn't looke very familiar, but maybe that's because they were still in the air.
It wasn't a forest, but rather a large park. It wasn't as crowded as it might have been later in the day, but there were still several families scattered around, some playing, others eating, yet others just sitting around having a good time.
Sirius set the trio down near the edge of the great lawn, and waited patiently as DS set Karan and Demare down next to him. "Where are you going?"
"To get breakfast. Watch them, would you?" Waving cheerily at everyone, DS ran towards a small silver cart at the end of the lawn and joined the throng of people surrounding it.
It looked interesting, he had to admit. Lots of open space, which was always good, and lots of people. For the first time since he went to bed the previous night, Karan felt completely comfortable with his surroundings, and he squeezed Demare's hand tightly.
Demare watched the guardian woman wander away, his fingers shifting a little bit as Karan squeezed his hand. ...At least they weren't alone, right? Lots of space between people was a very good thing, he decided. Neko had a lot of residents, and even they weren't ever in the same room at once. Feeling much better, he leaned back just far enough so that he could see the large creature when he looked up, lifting his free hand up to pat the fur lightly.
Oooo, it was soft!
"Hewwo," he said with a smile, then looked to Karan for a moment. "Sof'."
Karan watched Demare pet the strange creature, but didn't try to do it himself. Yes, soft things were absolutely fantastic, but he didn't trust that thing yet. Still, if his friend was doing it, he should be able to as well. His hand shook as he stroked the dark fur, steadying more with each repeat of the gesture.
"Sof," he agreed.
Sirius smiled, as best as as a Tala could smile. This wasn't too bad. Reminded him of spending time with his own children, if only a little.
"Okay, here we go." A paper bag dropped onto the grass in front of them, DS following suit. "For me, a ham and egg sandwich, and for the kiddies, applesauce and oatmeal!"
A bowl of each was plunked down in front of the kids, sans spoons, and DS ran off again. "Forgot napkins!"
Demare's attention snapped to the bag as it was dropped, his wings stiffening as he grew alert of the "intruder". Watching the guardian run off again, he blinked a few times, looking down at the bowls set in front of him and his friend. Applesauce and oatmeal, huh? He looked to Karan for a moment, wondering if it was really okay it eat it.
The food looked innocent enough, but you could never be to careful. Still, he'd been the wimp for a while, so Karan decided it was his turn to take a risk. One pointer finger dipped into the applesauce, the other into the oatmeal, and both entered his mouth at the same time. A strange taste to be sure, but delicious! Grinning, he stuck a hand in the oatmeal and then in his mouth, nodding. It was good!
Demare stared at Karan a little blankly at first before looking to his own food, contemplating the style of eating. Hands? Was this stuff finger food? It wouldn't hurt, it seemed... Dipping a couple of fingers into the oatmeal, he scooped out enough to fill his hand, then quickly stuffed his hand into his mouth.
...Hey, this was fun AND good. And very gooey like the bananas Guinevere had shared with him that one time.
Taking his other hand, he dipped that into the applesauce and did the same as before. He couldn't help but giggle a little bit, his wings twitching happily.
After some experimenting, Karan discovered that the oatmeal was thick enough to stick together, whereas the applesauce ran through his fingers when he tried to get more than a little. But when he held his applesauce-dripping hand over the oatmeal and then scooped out the flavored bit- mmmm, delicious! Giggling with delight, he pointed, wondering if Demare would like his idea. Even if not, both foods were pretty good alone.
Demare pondered this for a moment, pausing his oatmeal covered hand before he stuck it in his mouth. At the same time...? It couldn't hurt, right? Sticking the oatmeal hand into the applesauce so it would just cover, he proceeded to stick the new mix into his mouth to taste.
...It wasn't bad, actually. In fact, it tasted better than it did by itself! With a soft squeal of delight, he repeated the action again, eating a little slower to salvage the taste.
Peering at Demare sideways, Karan sat up a little straighter and moved with more grace and thought to his moves, emulating the older Legend. Taking time didn't make the food taste any better, but it did make the taste last longer. Humming delightedly, he thrusted his hand back into the bowl, submerging it a little further than he'd had in mind. His sleeve dripped clumps of oatmeal onto the rest of him, but Karan didn't seem to care. The food was good, the space was good, what company he had was good, and that was all he really cared about.
Out of the corner of his eyes, Demare noticed the mess Karan was making. Maybe it was because he had sleeves... Looking at his hands for a moment, however, he realized that he wasn't any better. The loose part of his bandages had made their way into his food, one of the cleaner ones starting to sink into the applesauce due to being so wet now. Lifting and gathering up the loose ends, he began to shake the bandages, little bits of oatmeal and applesauce flicking about.
Karan squealed and whipped his arms up to shield his face from the flying food, sending more splattering in the other direction. This was fun! A bit sticky, but fun all the same.
DS dropped a thin stack of napkins onto the grass, taking in the scene shockedly. "What... a... mess!"
Demare stopped waving his bandages about, glancing up at the guardian woman for a moment. What was a mess? Taking another look around, he realized what she was talking about, and giggled sheepishly, hiding his dirty hands behind his back.
"I sowwy," he said shyly with a bashful smile.
Resuming his copying game, Karan shoved his soggy sleeves behind him. They started to feel icky, and he knew that his guardian would insist on doing the whole washing thing again because of it. Best to be nice and see if she'd forget the whole thing. "Sowwy."
Again the temptation to melt from the cuteness was hard to resist, but possible. "Aw, it's okay loves. But we'll have to get you cleaned up, and I'm sure your going to be missed soon..."
Sirius, who had dozed off, blinked. "Hrm? Are we leaving so soon?"
"I think so. It looks like they got breakfast, at least. And we'll have to get Demare home soon."
It took all of a minute to clean up, shoving the messy bowls into the bag, and using the napkins to clean everything as well as possible. It was a temporary solution at least.
As DS approached Demare to clean him, she paused. What would be the best way to handle the bandages? Surely they were there for a reason, but wouldn't fresh ones be better? As a test, she tried to unravel one, doing it slowly to see how the child would react. The last time she tried to remove something without a Legend's permission, she'd nearly lost a nail.
As DS started to reach toward his bandages, Demare's hand shot up quickly and pressed hard against her palm, his two extra eyes opening partially as his two bi-colored ones narrowed into a glare. It seemed that was all it took to awaken Demian, and poor Clare was too off guard to even fight for control.
"No," he almost hissed, his wings stiffening a little bit. "No touch."
Yep, it seemed that they all were temperamental about something. Normal enough. Still, she wasn't going to let a sticky-armed baby get her messy too.
"Okay then, I won't touch. All I'm going to do is wrap a couple napkins around your arms, and let Neko-san deal with you. Okay?" It wasn't a plan she liked, especially handing a mess she'd made over to a pregnant woman, but there wasn't any choice.
Karan sat back and chewed his sleeve. Mmm, appley~
Demare's extra eyes closed once more as he put his arm down, still glaring up at the woman. "Fine," was all he said, hesitating for a moment before holding up both arms for her to wrap the napkins around them.
DS was more focused on Demare's arms than his eyes, and hurriedly wrapped the appendages in thin napkins.
Less occupied, Karan did notice the eyes, and frowned. Did that happen before? Whatever it was, as long as his friend was still okay, he didn't particularly care. But while his caretaker cleaned the rest of their picnic spot, he crawled closer to Demare.
"Dmah okie?"
Once the guardian woman was done, Demare began to shake his hands about a little, wondering just how well the napkins had been put on. Ugh... now they were stuck to him... His wings twitched slightly at Karan's approach, and only his eyes turned to glance at the boy. Was he okay? He was FINE... Was there any indication that he wa--...
CRAP.
Demian, what's wrong? Clare piped up, still saddened that he had to leave so suddenly.
Demian was quiet for a moment as he tried to figure out how exactly to explain. I think... he saw them.
Clare, however, was very confused. Saw what? What did he see?
My eyes.
Your... eyes?
My real eyes.
Demare opened his mouth to say something, but no words would come out. Dang it... DANG IT! No one was supposed to know! Neko was the only other person to see them... The only one that was SUPPOSED to see them.
N-no one... must have payed any attention before...
This ruins EVERYTHING!
Demian! P-please... calm down. It'll be okay!
How do you know that?
I...
How do you know that he won't just abandon us like they did before?
But Demian, he--
He's not like us, Clare! He's different! Don't you get it? He's not like us!
Clare was quiet as he tried to think. Demian did have a point, but Karan was still Karan... And Demare would always be Demare.
M-maybe... we should tell him...?
What good will that do, idiot? It's not like he's capable of comprehending what we are.
You'll never know unless you try...
...Curse him for being right. But the point still stood... Karan more than likely wouldn't understand. However, Demare wouldn't be able to voice out his words like he could think them. ...Dang it.
"I... explain when bigger," he managed to put together. "But... I fine."
"Gooh." As long as he was fine, whatever he saw didn't really matter. He'd find out later, and that was good enough. Why bother rushing?
With slightly sticky hands, DS picked up both Legends and settled them on the Tala. "Let's go."
"To?" Sirius stretched his wings, preparing to take off.
"Legend HQ. You've been there before, right?
"Um... sure." Not that it had been a pleasurable experience, but whatever. This time he'd wait outside.
Another good stretch, and he lept into the air.
Demare didn't seem phased this time as they began to fly, his wings calmly curling around his body a little bit. Right now, his mind was distracted, mentally cursing himself and trying to think up ways around this whole ordeal. Karan saw them... and he wasn't afraid. So now what? Now where would things go...?
This is so frustrating... he thought to himself with a sigh.
As the Tala flew upwards, Karan stopped sucking the applesauce out of his sleeve (the flavor was mostly gone anyway) and folded his arms together, shivering a little. Being up so high was amazing, but a little scary. He felt as if he could see the whole world from where he was, and that was both comforting and unsettling at the same time.
DS frowned as she looked around. It was later than she thought it would be. "On second thought... perhaps we'd better just take Demare home. Surely Neko-san will worry soon..."
That caught Karan's attention, and he looked at his fellow Legend hastily. He was leaving?
Home? Demare's eyes shifted to glance at the guardian woman for a moment before he felt the wary glance of the other legend. The woman had a point, sadly enough... He hadn't exactly asked if it would be okay, and he needed to get away from the two of them as it was. Not that they were bad, but he needed to think.
"Tha' fine," he muttered quietly, closing his eyes so he wouldn't have to look at Karan.
Amused by his approval, DS nodded, fishing out a small notepad. "Let's see... there we go. Sirius, we're headed east instead."
It was difficult to not look disappointed, but if his friend wanted to leave, Karan didn't want to stop him. In truth, all he really craved at the time was sleep. But it would be far more comforting if he knew he'd have someone there when he woke up.
"See la'uh?" He had to try to see him again later. Or anyone, but Demare was the first choice.
Demare seemed to hesitate before nodding, still not looking to the other boy. "Yuh," was all he said, his wings fidgetting behind him a little bit as DS gave out directions to his home.
It didn't take long to reach the address she'd been given, DS was surprised to discover. Apparently, her house was now closer to others, a fact she had yet to adjust to. "This's it, squirts," she said cheerfully, dismounting before picking up the Legends.
The door presented a problem, and she ended up using her foot to knock on it. "Hello? Anyone home?"
"Just a minute!" a voice called out from within the house, soon after followed by a sound of glass breaking and something tumbling over.
"MIKI! What'd I tell you about leaving those toy cars around?!"
"Eeeeeeeee!!!! Don't hurt me!!"
"Yes, thank you SO FREAKING MUCH for helping the poor pregnant woman off the floor. Because I CAN SO GET UP BY MYSELF!"
Demare lifted a brow at the screams coming from inside, folding his arms across his chest once more. What the heck was this? He was gone, and chaos was STILL ensuing? How dare they have fun without him to cause trouble!
After a few moments, the doorknob finally turned, the door opening a little bit so a golden eye could peer outside. Neko twitched slightly, straightening up the best that she could with her swelled up belly, and opened the door enough to see the other guardian.
"Um... sorry about that," she sighed, blushing with embaressment. "It's been a little... hectic this morning..." Glancing over her shoulder for a moment, she checked to make sure there weren't any more booby traps lying in wait for her. "...Er, would you like to come in?"
DS's eyebrows crawled towards her hairline. Was it possible she had come across a house more chaotic than her own? It did seem likely, judging from the noise, that she'd at least found a match. And if it was anything like home, she knew that there would probably be no preparations for visitors.
"Thank you, but I'm afraid we'll have to get home soon. This little one's falling asleep."
It was true; Karan was having trouble keeping his eyes open. But he did recognize Neko, even if only a little, and let out a sleepy "Haiiii..."
Neko purred softly as she looked at the other bi-colored child, smiling sweetly through her pain as she reached out a hand and gently took a small hand underneath her index finger, a small handshake of sorts. "It's good to see you again, little one," she cooed, her tail flicking a little bit.
Looking to DS, she nodded in understanding, moving to free the woman's arm by taking up Demare in her own. "If he caused any trouble, I'm really sorry... hopefully he wasn't too bad," she said, bowing her head a little bit. "Thank you for letting him stay with you last night, though..."
She mockingly glared at the child for a moment. "Even if he didn't ASK me."
Demare flinched slightly, opening up his right eye to glare up at the woman. Hmph... What did she know? It's not like she would have cared, right? And it wasn't like he'd hurt anyone.
Karan smiled a little at the touch of the other woman, but all traces of that failed as Demare was taken away. He was alone again.
"No trouble at all," DS replied, shifting Karan's weight in her arms. "He was fine, in fact, and-" Wait a second. "You didn't know? I was under the impression that he had permission..." Seemed her eldest had forgotten to tell her something.
Oh crap.
Neko's ears perked up a little bit, her eyes shifting to look at the guardian again. "Well... no, I didn't. I wasn't able to go with Demare to the headquarters last night, so I'd sent Xiao... Then he came back by himself, and had quite a bit of explaining to do."
The demon hanyou sighed softly, her tail curling a little bit as she thought for a moment. "Xiao thought... it would be for the better, since I've been a little stressed lately, if Demare were out of the house for a while. He's new here, so he didn't really understand the whole permission thing, but I figured if Demare was with a friend, then it would be okay. Besides... if anything DID happen, I assumed you would have called or something, and since you didn't, I figured things would be okay."
"I can assure you, however, that this won't be happening about for a while... Need to lay down a few laws, it seems, and hope for the best."
Great, that meant he was in for a lecture. Maybe he should have stayed with the guar--
"And you've given me a wonderful excuse to give him a bath. It seems they had a little fun with their food."
"NUH!" Demare screamed, trying to free himself from Neko's arms, but failing miserably. "No bath!!" ANYTHING BUT THAT!!!
Urp, she'd forgotten about that. "Yes, that was probably my fault. I'm so sorry... but it seems that they both get baths today. Anyway, I'm terribly sorry. Eriol should have known better than to take someone without permission, but it seems we'll have a little talk of our own."
"Anyway, I'm glad that everything's okay now. Maybe we can go for coffee sometime, let someone else watch the kids, and just relax, hm? A tempting idea, even if it wasn't likely.
Neko smiled a little bit, shifting the struggling Demare in her arms. "That sounds like a good plan, actually," she admitted, her ears twitching a little bit. "I just may take you up on that offer."
Success? DS beamed. "Alrighty then!"
The conversation had bored Karan to sleep. Not a hard feat to manage, considering his exhaustion, but he made it obvious with a soft snore as he tried to roll over.
"Oh dear..." Tightening her grip around the child, she sighed. "I should be going, I guess. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call!" Her free arm waved limply as she started to mount the patient Tala once more.
Neko lifted a hand into a wave herself, stepping into the doorway for a moment. "Take care, ne? And again, thank you for letting Demare stay with you last night. I owe you one!" she called to the woman with a little laugh. "Don't be a stanger!"
"I won't," is the final call, the woman already on her way to the sky.
