He'd gone crazy. That was the only explaination for it. He was acting, well, like an a**. A brief thought, that this could be him in a few months, crossed his mind, before he saw Alan getting ready to kick again.

He jumped back, and though he was slowed down due the pain in his stomach, he managed to get just out of range of the hooves. He continued backing up, trying to put some distance between himself and the donkey-man.

"Hey, calm down. I'm not going to attack you, alright?"

Kick! Kick! Kick!

Again and again, The Donkey in control of Alan's body was snapping the powerful hoofed legs back again and again. The former pundit was never a strong, powerful man (especially as he grew older), but now his kicking legs seemed to be flesh sledgehammers. Ryan was smart to get out of the way.

Alan, however, did not notice him. It was certainly a odd sight--an overweight middle-aged man, wearing a fairly nice golf shirt and polo and having extra-long ear and face, as well as powerful hooves, kicking in a circle and almost braying like...well...a donkey.

The Donkey soon tired out, calming down and letting the soon-to-be horrified human slowly regain control.

Ryan stayed a good distance back. The guy didn't really seem to notice he was there anymore. After a short while, he seemed to kick himself out.

"Um, hey, Alan? Are you in there?" There was genuine concern in his voice, mostly because he was worried this might happen to himself later.

The kicks came slower...slower...slower...and then finally, with one last tired jolt backwards, Alan felt his legs come back under his control and say in the dirt, his mind becoming clearer and clearer...and almost like a big tub had been emptied out, and it felt good to have it empty.

For a few moments, Alan stood there on awkwardly on all fours, embarrasment coming over him like molasses as he regained control.

"Yes...I think I'm here," he said cautiously, slowly rising back up.

"You feel okay? Has that happened before?" Ryan didn't want to pester him with too many questions, but he wanted answers.

"Umm, I'm sorry I got you so mad...I really wasn't a staff member..."

Please let him believe him now...

Alan finally stood upright once again, his body under human control. He looked over Ryan. He must be terrified. Jesus.

Hell, I'm terrified.

"I'm fine," Alan stated hesitantly, afraid that somehow he would suddenly loose control. "...and I don't believe that's ever happened to me before."

What in God's name just happened? What came over me? What was that...other thing?

Alan took a step forward. "I'm...sorry if I scared you." In his weakened state, the great Brick Wall, Alan Murrow, had apologized. It was a rare event indeed.

Yes, Ryan was terrified, not to mention in severe pain. Now that he wasn't in danger, the adrenalin was gone, and he remembered the hoof to the stomach.

"That's..good to hear." He slumped to the ground, shaking a bit as well. He was a little cautious when Alan stepped forward, but he didn't have the strength to move away.

"How much do you remember?" Ryan tried to find the words to express his thoughts. "Of what happened?"

What did happen?

Alan thought hard, but the last thing he could remember clearly was saying hello to Ryan...and him mentioning something he hadn't really heard of, something that seemed odd to the city-dwelling pundit: hydrogen peroxide. From there, it just seemed to get foggy and harder to remember.

Then, he was there.

"That would be...Hydrogen peroxide," Alan said, unsure.

"Oh..I was saying I needed some to disinfect my hands, and you started accusing of working for the labs." Ryan wasn't sure of how much to tell him. He didn't want the guy to freak out again.

"You were...kicking and braying like a, well, you know."

"The labs..." The horror of it, of losing control, was overwhelming to Alan. It was like the several minutes were simply cut out of his memory--not suppressed, but cut out. The things before and after were hazy...almost like he only remember parts of it, certain details.

"I was?" Alan said weakly. "I'm...sorry, I guess." He did a quick once over, making sure he didn't injure himself. "Looks like there's no damage, at least." Alan gave the younger man an embarrassed smile.

"It's okay. I'm sure it wasn't your fault." Whatever happened, it was the lab's fault.

"Yeah, no external damage yet anyways. I'm sure my stomach will bruise up all sorts of pretty colors" He tenderly poked the spot where it happened, and winced as he did so. Yep, it was gonna be sore.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 14, 2007 12:27 am

"Oh!" Alan said in surprise when he mentioned damage to his stomach. "I hurt you?" Jesus.

"Don't the labs have some sort of surveilence to prevent this sort of thing from happening?"

"Nah, it wasn't much, don't worry about it." He tried to downplay it as much as he could. He'd had worse before, and something much worse would happen not too long form now.

He rubbed the back of his head, avoiding the growing bump. "I guess. I mean, I'd heard something to that effect, but I don't know at what point they would." He was just as in the dark as Alan.

"Of course you wouldn't know," Alan said dimissively, quickly falling back into old habits. The Donkey was seeming more and more like a bad dream, the terror of losing himself slowly disipating--out of sight, out of mind, as they often say--and becoming replaced by undying embarassment.

He looked over to the village, to see if anyone else had heard the commotion that the two of them had made. The sun was setting behind the duplexes, over the trees, the sky (and his now-long cheeks) pooling with blood.

"Well, that's one perk, isn't it?" Alan said, gesturing towards to the west and trying to change the subject. "You don't see sunsets like that in New York."

The snide remark didn't really have any weight to it, nostly because Ryan had just seen the guy acting like a real donkey. Which he supposed is what he technically was now.

"You sure don't. Not that I've been to New York, anyways. But even in the suburbs, you never see anything like that." It seemed to have a calming effect too. It was very relaxing to see every thing so tranquil after something so traumatic.
