"Currently, I'm t'inkin'... " He suddenly dropped out of view as he slipped into the water. With a few good tentacle strokes, he resurfaced just to her side, spiny fin flairing as water streamed from his face, "Fish fer now. S'hard.... huntin' fer it all... e'ery day. Bring me... a fish... an' I'll... bring ye' entertainment." At that, he gave a wide grin.

Maryke dropped her eyes to the water as his form went under it and then ticked back upwards as he resurfaced. She leaned closer to hear what he was about to say and at his words a cheshire cat grin slipped to her face.
"I'm likin the way you think," she said, still keeping herself afloat. "And if they don't have fish, well then cigerettes, booze....anything" the grin widened, "And before you know it...they'll bring you their loyalities."

"Maybe... maybe... I'm doin' well enough'... on smokes a' th'moment.... an' booze... one can get from th'bar... easy peasy, aye?" He swam back in little circles, the soggy remains of the cigar raised up so he could chew on it, even if he couldn't light it. "Bu'... th'cafeteria's... pretty far from here.... an' s'hard... t'catch fish. They coul'... bring 'em t'me..." Now, what he really wanted, he was sure no one could bring him.

She nodded, still bobbing up and down in the water, watching him swim around with interest. Billy was certainly quite a character. The way he looked was no longer even bothering her, at first, when they last met that certainly played a part in how she viewed him. Not so much the case now.
"Well then," she said coyly, "I think with this you'll be getting all the fish you'd ever want. How many other acts do you have anyway?"

"Officially? As o' now?" He seemed to calculate it, bobbing easily in the water as though casually pacing, "None." As an addendum, he added, "In t'eory... two. If y'know anyone.... send 'em my way."

She chuckled. "Hmmmmmm..." she moved closer, finding it easy to talk with this guy. "Well if it's one thing I know, it's how to round up people so to speak. I'm sure I can get a few more acts, can't say if they'll be any good or not, but entertainment is entertainment," she added.

Billy's odd, inhuman smile flickered back across his face again, pointed, bird-like tongue sliding over the side of his beak, "An' I wouln' be... against y'know... more adult en'ertainment too."

She laughed loudly and placed a placed a hand on his shoulder. "Well I'll try to find the best girls this island has to offer too. Then we could REALLY get you a lot of fish" She smirked and watched him a bit. "You know..." she added, a small brief thought passing through her head, "It's a shame our paths never crossed outside the island."

She nodded. He did have a point there. "Unfortunately there's a lot of people I wouldn't given the time of day." She began to backstroked back towards the shore, though still engaged in the conversation at hand. "Good thing this island at least gives us some chance to start over," she said and then chuckled, "Not that it does any good."

"Yeah, I guess so," she said nodding. By now she had managed to swim out of the water, taking to just sitting on the shore. Her legs stay dangled in the water and her hair was messy from the grime of the lake. Rapping her tail around herself, she began stroking it idily listening to him. "I just hope things start to get better. Adjusting to this place, not having what I had..or even my looks, it's..." she sighed, "It's a b***h."

"Well..." he had her there, she knew it. But she'd make a case anyway. "It's different with me....I mean hell, I worked my a** off to get where I was, look how I look...I mean no guy in their right mind would have given me the time of day. I had work to look like...to become" she stopped, deciding that no matter how hard she had to argue there really was no point. Even with the fur and tail at least she had some semblance of beauty left in her.
She decided to change the subject.
"You're the expert on ugly things, huh?" She squinted her eyes, giving him a very analytical eye. "Well you make up for it in other ways I'm sure, personality for starters."
