Takuha New series looks good though, I just wish they'd stop using the DALEKS (or any old series monsters) in the finales Spoiler in white: The Daleks aren't going to be in the finale! They are going to be in episodes 4 and 5, and they're going to be in New York in the 1930s! It was officially announced a few days ago.

If it weren't for that Spider Lady and her ship, earth wouldn't even exist. And yet the Doctor slaughtered her and all her children with barely a second thought. Am I the only one who feels bad about this? sad

Am I the only one who feels bad about this? sad the short answer is yes Not only am I sick of all this "last of my kind" crap, perhaps the Doctor should have thought before commiting mass genocide? And please get rid of the robot santas. Please. An army of robotic mercenaries is fine, if they weren't so absolutely rubbish at their job. Finally, surely sending gallons of seawater down into the centre of the Earth would cause complete and utter chaos with tides, sea levels and gravity? Even just making a hole that goes right down to the core of a planet would do some really crazy things. And there's nothing to stop the molten rock from just flowing into the hole, seeing as laser's don't automatically pave the sides of your hole for you with heat-proof wonder-materials. This Christmas special was a xenobiologist's, a cyberneticist's, a meteorologist's and a geologist's nightmare, all at once. Otherwise, it was...OK.

Am I the only one who feels bad about this? sad the short answer is yes Then you're obviously missing the point of the end of the episode <.< The difference between the doctor and the 'evil beings' he vanquishes would be approximately nothing if it weren't for his companions. Inside he's just a raging psycopath waiting to happen and we all know it ;D

Not that I minded him being psycho... but it's just such a reversal from, for instance, his reluctance over killing the Nestene Intelligence or the Sycorax. *sigh* At least nasty Tenth Doctor doesn't annoy me as much as cheerful Tenth Doctor.

You know what I loved most about this episode... the quote at the end..
Doctor: I don't need anyone. Donna: Yes you do... cause sometimes I think you need someone to stop you.

Being an American, I haven't seen it, of course. We are a full season behind you (not surprisingly; nothing new here). But from everything you say, it does sound like fun. I just wish we were going to get the Sarah jane adventuires, and I understand the BBC is under some poressure from fans to please let us see it.
I just hope they explain what happened on Gallifrey, not just mention the planet's name.

I really liked it, but now I wish I had voted 4 on the poll instead of 5.
The monster was really cool. They didn't use any CG... just wow. I actually really liked the character of Donna. I still hate the santa robots. Those bugged me last year, and they still do today. >>;
But I LOVED the scene where he's killing the queen's babies. Because that is so unDoctor like. I think it was a great way to start off the new series, because now that the Doctor is alone... He seems to have changed. I really hope bringing back Jack will make this sort of change contrast even more to the Doctor he used to be. I can't wait to see what happens when Jack and the Doctor meet back up. I hope it's not in the middle of action, because then they'll brush aside any differences. I want their first meeting to be an explosive conflict in its own right, not because insternameofrandomvillianhere is trying to kill them all.
Is anyone else hoping that Piper decides to come back? I mean, come on, he said 'impossible' plenty of times this episode, but it was all happening. Not so impossible is it, Doctor?
I also loved any moments mentioning Rose. They DID do it tastefully. It wasn't just an emo!Doctor, thank TPTB. I really liked how they just threw him right back into action, so he didn't get a chance to be all depressed.
The part where, at the end, Donna asked what her named was... That was so sad. He got choked up when he said 'Rose'. :grins: I loved that part.
I can't wait to see the whole 'throw Rose's jacket out of the TARDIS' scene... That's going to be great angst. ^^
But anyways. So. Overall, it was a great episode. Fun to watch and all that.
RHINOS! AND SHAKESPEAR! whee I can't wait for series 3.
I thank youtube and demonoid sincerely. When it comes to television, UK wins, not US. Well, actually Canada wins, but that's besides the point.
I heart Vancouver.

It was good, but that spider lady was a bit annoying. I did like the comedy in it, though. My friends and I died laughing when Donna hit the staircase and fell off the web-rope. I have to admit, I felt really bad for her when Lance told her that he couldn't stand her. It hurts to be misled like that, even if you are annoying.

But when he was just standing there, watching it... it was kinda... woah, he's cracked!! Donna was completely right, he really does need someone. BADLY.

It was a pretty enjoyable episode on its own, made my new year kick off to a happy trot (American = downloaded and watched it with some delay). I wasn't looking for some ground-breaking entertainment from the Christmas special however, and I didn't get it. I'm still looking forward to the rest of the season, looks like it will be fun. (^_^)
