I'm glad to hear that Subbie, like Miyna said there's a lot of bad parents out there who don't care as much as you do. I know your kids will definately know that.
Dang, I didn't realize what a huge problem of deadbeat parents who don't pay child support there is out there. How much does all these guys owe? Is there like a collection agency or any way to garnish their tax returns? eek

I had an ex who's dad was so far behind on his child support payments that whenever he got a job they'd take it out of his pay check. All of his children were adults when I met them.

my ex has his wages 'attached' too. he's not as far behind as some, but still...
some folks owe as much as tens of thousands of dollars, and will deliberately not work just so they don't have to pay. i consider myself one of the lucky ones, when it comes to that, since they only attached his wages to make it easier all around.
then again, he seems to have forgotten how to pick up a phone, so it could be a good thing...

Yeah, I've heard of dad's that go as far as to quit their jobs as soon as their wages start being garnished. It's really sad that some one is willing to go through so much trouble to not have to pay child support. The only person they're really punishing is the child. confused

My ex usually quits his job within a few months of them starting to garnish his wages. Though it usually takes a few months before the employer figures out he owes, so he works each job maybe six months. rolleyes
And this fool only has to pay $25 a month... how hard is that? talk2hand
Ah well, he doesn't visit either. Which might be a good thing... wink

Yeah, I was told that if D's other half were to actually pay child support that he'd have to be granted visitation rights too. I'm not in a big hurry for that because i don't trust the guy. Luckily I doubt he'd come all the way from Maryland to Wisconsin to see his son. I mean he doesn't even call. Why would he visit?

Which might be a good thing... wink My ex owes me over $60,000 from my first two kids. He was only ordered to pay $75 per child. The kids are now adults and the state is going after him again. He is calling me and harrassing me to try and get the state to drop the charges against him. He doesn't feel he should have to go to jail since I managed to raise the kids without his money. He is one of those that would work a place for 3 months, then get notified that in 30 days that they would start garnishing and he'd quit on day 28 to avoid having to pay.

Actually, that's not true. My husband pays child support every month and on time. Visitation is a seperate thing. Unfortunately if the mother of his child wants to, she can cut off him getting to see Austin, which I don't like.

Then the child support people lied to me. sweatdrop My aunt went through that too. Her oldest son's father threatened to drop him on his head so he wouldn't have to pay child support. rolleyes

http://www.supportkids.com/http://www.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/cse/fct/fct2.htmThat second one has helpful numbers and stuff. I know that my sister's ex will be the type to quit a job every few months, but I do know that they garnish income tax refunds and state ones. Unless they aren't filing, which that can land them in jail as it is. With Tommy's son's bio mother, she up and decided she wanted offical CS when Austin was 9 I think? So, by Alabama law, we had to pay 2 years of "back" child support regardless of what we had paid just between him and her. They took it out of our income tax return THAT year, so it can be possible.

He wouldn't keep a job, because he didn't want the money going to my mom. He eventually gave up all legal rights, just so that he wouldn't have to pay anything.

Burnt Glitter Dad's like that don't deserve to be dads. Sad thing is, he has 4 kids that I know about. That's including me.
I have an older brother who I've never really met, and he refuses to have anything to do with me. All I have of him is a picture of him holding me when I was a few days old.
I have an older sister who I never knew about until I was 13, the day I met her.
And then a younger sister, who I have known all my life and I actually miss the crap out of her and I wish I could find her.
And yeah, all from different women.
He doesn't take care of any of us. The brother was put up for adoption, the older sister moved to missouri, and the younger sister.. well I don't know about her, actually.
