Ina beamed eagerly at this question-- she was always one for showing off how much she knew when given the opportunity,
"Oh -everywhere-. There are ports all over the world and we've been to all of them. Some we visit more often than others. We're in the Fire Nation most, of course, but I like it when we're in the Earth Kingdom too, because there are some really nice people there."

"The earth kingdom," he repeated. Rin-ji had never heard great things about the earth people, but the fire nation was not always known for being forgiving with it's descriptions of others. "Like, friends of yours, or just everyone in general is nice?"

Ina blinked,
"Oh, I don't really have friends," she asserted, "But, there are some nice people I see every time I go there. Especially shopkeepers."

"You don't mean no friends in general anywhere, right? I'm sure you have friends elsewhere," Rin-ji guessed, "you're definitely social enough."

Ina shook her head,
"Oh, no. We're never really anywhere long enough for me to make real friends. I know people, but they're not, like, people I know I could count on in a pinch like in the stories."

She knew she definitely didn't have any -close- friends of the variety in the stories or anything like that.

"Though, I guess the Sailors look out for me, but I don't think they really count 'cause they just work for mom and dad and they're probably supposed to."

"You spend enough time around someone and chances are they'll start to like you, even if your parents are their boss," he assured her. "You seem like you'd be plenty nice to them."

She shrugged,
"They're mostly older than me, though. They tell me stories sometimes, but mostly I'm on my own."

She beamed,
"It's okay, though! I can take care of myself."

Rin-ji made a face. "No one on the boat your age? That's got to get boring sometimes. But it looks like you manage."

She beamed, posing in a sort of tough-guy kind of way,
"I'm strong. I can take care of myself. Entertain myself. That's what the stories are for, too!"

She shook her head,
"But no, noone my age. They're all older. But it's okay. They're nice and I have stories and I can watch the fish and stuff."

"Uh, you must really love stories," Rin-ji asked, finding the whole thing a little strange. "Are you sure that's all you need for the meal? I mean, it's real nice of you."

She shrugged,
"Well, I mean, it's the easiest way to pass time. Especially when the wind dies down and there's nothing to do even in the maintenance of the ship and stuff."

She grinned, shaking her head,
"Oh, no, that's all I need. You looked like you needed it anyhow, and my parents make plenty of money for me to spend a bit helping someone out."

Rin-ji flushed in embarassment and fussed with his clothes. He didn't look that bad, did he? Not that he could deny the welcome gesture of a free meal. All the same, he reassured Ina, "I'm managing just fine. I take care of myself, too, but still... uh. Thanks."

She grinned,
"Well, maybe you just needed a wake-up call, then. Ought to take better care of yourself, or you'll be dead when Razuten comes back to teach you!"

She flipped her hair over her shoulder and got to her feet, stretching,
"I think I'll head back to the ship now. If you need anything, you should be able to find it asking about me."

"I'll never take any other boat than yours," he promised, standing as well and offering a hand to her. "Don't you worry about me. I'm getting pretty good at this being on my own thing."

She smiled, taking her hat and securing it on her head before taking the hand he offered,
"That sounds great to me!" she nodded and then headed out the door,
"See you around!"

She skipped off into the distance.
