Anguista
"Gah. Angry D:<" is about all I can think of.
(Complete sentences didn't work for me right then.)

As someone who is "fat", I'm kind of saddened by that, too.. :[
Kind of a big slap to the face. "So yeah, even if you actually get to the weight you've been trying to achieve for about two and a half years now, you're not Japanese, and you're still probably too fat. Oops, you lose."

Ugh. cry

Edit: About thirty seconds after I posted this, a friend of mine told me about a girl she knew in middle school.

Apparently the girl gained a lot of weight and was very depressed after her parents divorced. They sent her to therapy. No one liked her at school. etc..

She weighed 160 lbs in 8th grade.

The girl now has a hole in her esophagus from self-induced vomiting, is on a feeding tube, and hasn't eaten real food in 46 days.

My friend sent me a picture of this once friend. This was a picture on the girl's myspace, and it's scary. She's still camera whoring half naked, almost all bone, and with a visible feeding tube.

I hate when people feel the need to do that to themselves. Usually it's because someone's opinion, whom they care about, was that (s)he wasn't good enough the way (s)he was.. So he or she will change him/herself. A lot.

That is horrendous, really.

Sorry this is so long D:
When I read that i got really sad....

Lolita is Lolita. Regardless of stereotype.

As for the issue of overweight girls, as long as they are happy in what they're wearing, and as long as it is flattering (some dresses are unflattering on even the most stick thin girls), then I don't see why not.

For those who buy brand dresses blindly, because it is "brand", not because they love it, but because they can, they cannot call themselves lolita.

anyone could be a lolita. it only matters what is in the mind. if you think you are a lolita then you have every right to be.

My opinion: So long as you follow the basic guidelines of lolita, it doesn't matter your race, weight, or where you get your clothes, you can still be lolita.

Ugh... really... the author of that article... just makes me think... either a stupid little girl, or one of those pathetic American Japan obsessed morons who insist they're going to have a Japanese girlfriend and will 'settle' for nothing less.

I think if your clothes are nice, then you can be lolita. And this dosn't mean it has to be brand. It just has to look nice.

The only rules I have are;
you cannot be talkin about yaoi and being a flaming weaboo at tea parties. (Keep that for after, you know?)
BATHE PLEASE.

other than that, again, nice clothes you can be lolita. I understand that people may not have clothes but still love the "lolita lifestyle" but I mean... anyone can indulge themselves in nice things and not be lolita.

That makes me rather angry..>o>....
If you love the Lolita style...and you feel Lolita at heart...then you are Lolita...nothing else should matter besides that...

I myself an most definitly not a small Japanese girl...im a 5'9" Tall American Girl...and though i am thin..i am not a stick...
but i still Love the Lolita Lifestyle...thus...I am Lolita...
*I shall bonk the writer of that artical and anyone else who thinks that way over the head with a cute Parasol...in the most Lolita like way 4laugh *

I must also point out Novala's whole "A Princess is still a Princess" thing.. 3nodding
Cute..and so very true

From Novala Takemoto.

I want to become a Lolita,you say.
So Become one,I reply.
What can I do to look like a Lolita?
I have no words to which to reply to this.
You need a Headdress, don't you? And a Pannier?
Is this coordinate strange?
Is it not wrong for Lolita?
Why do you want to do Lolita?
Because it's trendy, because my friends do it...
If that's the case, you have no right to wear Lolita.
But if you just do what the others do,you will look like a Lolita.
But I want you to think about something...
Who do you live for?
You think you want to be yourself, but you're afraid of isolation.
You yell that you want to be free, but you take comfort in following convention.
When you are praised for something you don't even feel comfortable with, are you really satisfied?
Girls who wear Vivienne Westwood who don't even know the Sex Pistols.
Even when wearing a jersey, a Princess is a Princess.
My Lolita rules are mine alone.
So you are the only one who can find your own Lolita rules.
My God and your God are different, aren't they?
There are Angels that wear elegant dresses and play tambourines,
but there are also Angels that wear armour and carrying swords whose job it is to fight.
I can't answer your question
But there are a lot of hints around you.
You just haven't noticed yet.
What you feel is right is your answer.
Sew frills onto the hem of your heart!
Put a tiara ontop of your soul!
Have pride.

I believe that says it all.
