Mary stared, they were gone, she felt like she was in a daze, her mind told her she'd need to go help those kids but soon the techs were doing it. So... She simply knelt there, still on her knees, one hand absentmindedly holding the bite-wound Caden had left in her arm. It wasn't bad, just stung alittle, the bleeding had even stopped. The lion boy hadn't meant her any harm afterall, just wanted out of her arms.
Speaking of which, her daze was snapped short by his appearance. Quickly, she was running a hand over his big fuzzy mane of hair, pulling him into a quck hug. "Yea..." Her voice wavered alittle, tears welling up in her eyes as well. With a few deep breaths to try and calm her nerves, she shakily scouped Caden into her arms, shifting him to a hip and fighting against his hefty bodymass. "I have an office upstairs, lets all go there, alright?" She paused to look at Niki and Alaqua, hoping to get everyone away from the bloody mess, then moving to the elevator made for the dragons and pressing the button.
Before the elevator could start it's decent, a tech appeared through the stairwell, looking through the area, then lifting a walky talkie, Alan didn't have one did he? He shifted, dialing Peri's number. "Alan's there right?" he questioned, waiting for a yes, then reporting. "The stairs are secure, and... Everything here seems to have been taken care of..." He eyed the blood, the survivers, shifting nerviously. "I'll get a cleanup crew started... Over." He swallowed, moving around everyone to head in a back door and dig out a mop.

Niki glanced over at Mary. "That sounds good..." She stroked Ala's hair for a moment. "C'mon, sweetie," she muttered to the girl. "Let's go upstairs... get a soda or something, maybe...?"
"Okay, Mom..." Ala managed to stand, keeping one hand in her mother's and the other resting on Bob's head. The trio followed after Mary to the elevator, waiting for it to open up for them.
Niki was still trying to calm herself and her daughter down some when the tech suddenly popped out of the stairwell. She wasn't facing the man, so when he started talking into the talkie, she turned, wondering if he was talking to her. "Alan...?" she whispered, noting that the man wasn't speaking to her at all. 'Alan's alive?!' was the woman's thoughts as she went into a sort of shock.

Failed...He had failed... The words repeated themselves through his mind like a broken record. He had failed to protect 'us'...he had faild..
Caden pressed a hand gently to the bite on Mary's arm in silent apology, not daring to use his sandpaper tongue. One tear left a dark trail of damp fur down his cheek, and his blood-soaked tail dripped a red trail on the floor as he was carried to the elevator. He had failed.. The tear was followed by another, then many more. The liquid clouded his vision and he sniffled. His breath came in great heaving sobs and at once the thought came to him, "Call Mom." he managed to gasp out. They needed to call Mom. Mom always knew what to do. Caden clung to her and buried his face in her shoulder, whimpering softly. He had failed..
