Sunstrike

Sunstrike chuckled at the explination and shared a look with Nahara. "I guess some people used up a lot of your grandfather's supply, eh?" He grinned and got up, dusting himself off. "Sorry to say that I'm always like this." He clapped his hands together, and eerily loud noise in the big cavern. "Now lets get back home before darkness falls...I'd hate to think that any goblins were left out of your brothers little episode, and would be waiting for us in darkness..."

It was getting a bit dimmer within the walls, and Sunstrike was more on edge then his demeaner would suggest. He hated the dark more then even the cold...and not just because he couldn't see...

"Yea, let's go already-- I'm getting hungry." Hibon said, as he gave a side-long glance towards the large slab of obsidian in the middle of the dais. He swore he could feel something resonating from within, but shrugged it off, scratching at the back of his neck.

"Alright then.. I have enough of the moss. My grandfather makes quite a lot of business with it, and he needed some for your friend." She got up from the ground, and gave the various murals a last look, before walking towards the exit.

"So..." The trio made their way back up the tunnel, steadily walking along, with Hibon bringing up the rear as always. "The ruins turned out to be just a Goblin lair... And it looks like Hibon didn't leave a single one standing." Nahara said, smiling as she leaned forward and laughed into Suntrike's ear.

"But now that he broke his sword, he won't be able hearing the end of it from his squad captain. What should we do now?" She said, looking to Sunstrike.

Hibon, continued walking along, completely unawares. "Heh, heh, adventures rock!"

Sunstrike snorted. "His captain should be ashamed of giving a soldier a sword like that, piece of...." He blinked and remembered his manners. "It wasn't an expensive sword, Nahara...I wouldn't worry too much about it."

He sighed and rubbed the bandages over his chest. They itched and ached all at the same time, it'd been a long day...and he wondered vaugly if Vahn had awoken yet...he was only human...after all. And definately worse for wear then Sun had been, although not by much. His pace picked up, jumping and hopping over the corpses of the goblins on his way out into the fresh air.

"I didn't think we'd be back here, Hibon." Nahara was staring up, looking a little more than aprehensive at what was before her... a familair site for any that would remember: the floating dais and the large slab of obsidian rock that stood upon it.

"So... are we gonna do it?!" Hibon was looking to his sister, not really wanting to be here, but they really had no choice in the matter. They were back in the underground ruins... the same place that they were instructed by Vahn to head for.

"Y-Yea... let's." She started walking forward, her steps echoing off the cavernous walls, Hibon falling into step beside her. they drew closer and closer to the slab of obsidian, the light of the torches now revealing, the closer they got, numerous glyphs upon it's surface. There was writing all over the slab.

"What...What is this?" Hibon exclaimed, leaning in to take a closer look at the rock.

"I don't know... there's something written on it..."

Suddenly a deepening voice filled the whole chamber, starting from their heads and outwards, like a steady ripple.

To you who have found this place...

Both Hibon and Nahara stared up at the slab of rock, the glyphs upon it's surface glowing a furious sheen of white.

I am a practioner of black magic, from an early age, my interest was in the martial arts- but due to physical frailty, I was prevented from achieving mastery. However, upon thorough study of the mysteries of battle, I learned certains ecrets... Secrets that enabled me to defeat the most powerful men in the world.

"The rock... is talking to us." Nahara said softly, feeling a little more and mroe unsure of herself right now.

"No wonder they usualy stay quiet... this guy's so longwinded..."

As if in response, the glyphs upon the rock glowed to an even sharper hue of white, momentarily blinding both brother and sister.

Using that knowledge-- I created this unique magic tablet. Unlike traditional arts that hone your natural born skills, this magic tablet...

"What is... going on...?"

A distinct rumblign sounded through out the underground chamber, the glyphs growing brighter and brighter, until the very envrioment itself became distored, and archai symbols were placed everywhere.

...Stimulates the mind, expands the five senses and awakens a person's hidden potential.

"!" The entire dais had morphed, literally the entire underground grotto, as the massive obsidian slab suddenly grew to an enomrous height, supported by a series of steps and arches, glyphs, large and small, carved all around it on the ground.

"....Thi-This..."

but know this... this stone monument...

Both Nahara and Hibon stared on in complete shock, neither quite sure what to make of this at all. Nahara faintly wondered if Vahn knew that any of this would happen.

The energy of God lies within this battlefield. Once you enter-- your mind will be bombarded with illusions and phantoms.

A cold sweat broke out on Hibon as he stared on in morbid fascination at the slab of stone, and also deepning fear of the unknow.

However, if you can survive it-- you will become powerful.

The moment of silence dragged on now between both siblings, who were just literally slack jawed. Who knew that things like this could still exist.

You who stand here before me... Enter.

"...Well... you heard the rock. He wants us to enter." Hibon said hollowly, as he and his sister exchanged looks. Nahara just gave him a wilting stare, not in the mood for any jokes, even if they were meant to merely lighten the mood.

However, eventually the both of them leaned forward, with outstretched hands. Their fingertips would press against the surface of the monument, the glyphs now a dark red, as if blood were being spilled within it, and stored arts were unleashed, black crackles of energy seething from the slab of rock and enveloping the room, the process of which illicted echoing screams of pain from both brother and sister as their eyes became mere blanks, their skin and flesh sizzling and glowing....

"AH...AHH..!"

"Why'd you hafta go and do that fer... I was having fun." His feet dragging out of stubborness, he tried to get a hold of himself, and to get out of Sun's grip, wondering why he couldn't hear the soft laughter of women anymore, le alone why it go a lot darker suddenly.

The both of them had left the City, now out in the open, and moving farther along away from Strata. The stars and what moonlight there was would serve as their guiding light for now apparently, as night began to steadily fall upon the desert once more.

Seems time flies when you least expect it to. Vahn was feeling a little more warmer than usual, and so simply striped off the cloak, letting it flutter behind him, as he slowly pushed off Sun, and then stood back up on his own two feet.

"You were..." Sunstrike sighed and waved his hand, knowing it was pointless to argue with someone like this. He simply watched as Vahn stood upright again.

"You okay? You haven't opened any wounds or anything...have you?" Concern etched his face in the moonlight, as he lifted up his goggles and reached forward, practically blind, his fingers softly searching the bandages for fresh blood around the other mans waist, before he realized that was pointless through his own bandages...

"Tsk, I can't see..." He muttered, irritated at the weakness...then he sighed softly. No getting around it now, they'd just have to wait until morning. "I don't suppose you can spot a good campsite?" He wasn't quite sure how far they'd made it out. But it had been dusk leaving the gate, and Strata was well behind them now...

"What wounds?" The words echoed out in the growing night, as Vahn's head tilted downwards and to the side, knowing full well that all his major wounds had been healed forcibly by searing flame-- Sunstrike's searing flame to be exact.

His breath was slightly heavy with the smell of the consumed alcohol, as well as a hint of the rubs he'd eaten, but nothing too terrible, as he supported himself up, half leaning against Sun while for all intents and purposes, he was groped.

"Just roll the bags out anywhere... it doesn't matter at this point."

He tsked again. "Just cause they aren't deep doesn't mean they won't get infected." Then he sighed. "I guess you're alright...nothing that can't wait until tommorow morning anyway..."

Sunstrike straightened up and blinked, unaware that even drunk, Vahn could probably see him wince, before his expression became blank. "Lets get you sorted out first then..." He searched around and grabbed a bedroll out of the pile and spread it out on a softer patch of sand.

"You lie down, I'll take first watch, and wake you when I need to sleep...." He stood and crossed his arms, watching the sihlouette that was Vahn weave a little in the darkness. Sunstrike actually had no intention of sleeping at all....because his bedroll had been one of the things left behind....
PostPosted: Wed Jul 27, 2005 12:19 am

"I don't get sick that easily.." He half mumbled out, which was partially true. Due to the fact that his D.N.A. has had a chance to actually continue towards the slow and steady evolutionary ladder, without him actually really dying, up to this point-- his body was superbly advanced, when compared to a normal human beings.

Kneeling down, more like falling to his knees actually, he knelt down and smoothed out the bedroll, grunting a little before settling down onto his back. "Don't bother. anything actually stupid enough to try and attack while I'm sleeping is in for a surprise... get some rest."

Sunstrike

Sunstrike threw his arms in the air wordlessly, asking any god mentally why the hell he was here, and why they couldn't give him a little break.

"Fine fine, just....get some rest first okay?" And he wandered off a little ways, sitting down and debating what he was going to do....irritatingly scratching the bandages about his chest again. That was going to drive him nuts. He undid the fabric and let it fall to the ground, breathing a sigh of relief.

The moon was actually quite bright, affording him a bit more comfort then he usually had at nightime, and a soft breeze traveled by, stirring his hair and making him shiver slightly, he curled up around his legs, hoping Vahn would pass out and not notice him trying to sleep sitting up.

Like most night's in the desert, it was cold. The winds that rippled through were no exception, as they caused the hairs on skin to rise, and goosebumps to appear, and the body to shiver. As it was, yellowed eyes stared hollowly up towards the moonlit sky, a few clouds here and there, but otherwise a vastly empty sky.

He didn't have to turn around to know Sunstrike was still there. His back to the younger man, he shivered off by himself, silently wondering what he should do or say. Why should I have to do anything at all... It's not like... not like...

Without so much as even the cloak he had left the house with, to keep him warm, he huddled into what little of his own body warmth there was. Cold... he was actually cold. How long had it been since he felt this feeling... how long...

Darkness.

Darkness was all that greeted these eyes.

These eyes could only see pure darkness.

Running through that darkness, Hibon never ceased, his breath coming in great pants, arms moving up and down as he ran and ran. A great fear there was in his eyes, as if his very life depended on it.

"Ah..." Taking the chance to glance behind him, only a moan of displeasure followed, as realization settled in. He was still being chased. "Yaaahh!"

Chased by flying, ghoulish heads, their jaws unhinged and great seprent tounges waggling out, as if trying to snare him up and gobble him down. the flesh of their skulls was withered and worn, a pale greyish color, what little remained of their hair more like strands of strained, moldy pasta.

I'm... afraid...

Hibon's eyes shut tightly, as he ran onwards, always a step ahead fromd eath, a moment from complete destruction. He continued running, even as the ground itself became slick, became wet, and splashed.

His running was stopped, as he examine dhis surroundings. The darkness had receded, only to reveal a shallow expanse of water all around him. "!" Small ripples echoed all around him, before it occured to him to fearfully look behind him, wondering if the ghouls had caught up... only to find darkness behind him.

A sigh of relief, as he bent down, hands on his knees and he breathed easy. He laughed hollowly, having escaped such narrow danger... perhaps the worst was over now, he told himself, as he regained his breath. "!" The shock that grew over his face was one of pure shock and dread.

Staring upwards at him from the depths of the 'shallow' poool of water, was one of the ehadsof the ghouls that had been chasing him so. His face turned white as screams tore from his throat, his body stumbling backwards. "Ah...Ah...!"

As if on cue, rising from the murkiness of the waters around, several more ghouls came out, clawing towards the surface for life, and something more...

Hibon crossed his arms over his chest, his entire body shaking now. Scared, he was so scared...

Fight, you fool!

"!" The abruptness of those words cut through his psyche like a knife across silk. That voice... the voice of Vahn. Suddenly blood was flying, and the screams echoed out into the darkness.

There was a shift in sand next to Vahn, and something surprisingly warm draped itself over the other mans shouders. It was the tunic/poncho that Sunstrike had borrowed from his closet.

"You great lump...were you planning on shivering there all bloody night? I'm not spoon feeding you if you get the flu..." Neglecting the earlier statement that Vahn didn't get sick. The joke wouldn't have been funny if he thought over things like that too much.

He couldn't really explain how he knew the other was awake, or how he'd kept from tripping over his friend as he fumbled about in the dark for something from one of the leftover packs. As it was he was digging though one at the moment, ignoring what he'd just done.

He was shirtless now, in the cold. The sun markings stark against his pale skin. Apparently finding what he was looking for he got up again, about to move a bit away to his self appointed, uneccessary post.

Sunstrike

BA-BUMP
Sun... He felt the warmth spread across his body, simply laying there quietly and not even responding with a simple retort. He was feeling a little more than the effects of the scotch, although he hadn't really drank that much.. he just rarely drank at all, and so when he did...

BA-BUMP BA-BUMP

It was as if time were slowing down to a crawl, and just taking him for a ride. He could hear the rustles as his companion digged through the pack. He could hear the soft wind blowing against the cracked ground. The tiny grains of sand that bristled against one another. The heartbeat that thumped along to a tune unheard, rising in crescendo, the maestro of a maddening dream unrelenting.

BA-BUMP BA-BUMP BA-BUMP

A hand caught hold of a wrist, not letting one leave the other, instead pulling the one to the other. No words were spoken, as yellowed eyes still stared out to the side, a tanned arm outstretched, fingers around that wrist, not letting go.

Because to let go was to let fall.

BA-BUMP

Let fall these feelings.
