I am a : Gamma
I write/read : original (insert genre here) or fanfiction for (insert fandom here) Mainly anime-inspired fantasy/adventure, but also some comedy
Other : I'm looking more for someone to help me iron out inconsistencies with character and plot than spelling/grammar...I'm a Nazi in that department myself. The person should at least be able to tolerate anime, as that's where my main inspiration is. Lastly, it'd help if they can stomach some occasional bad sophomoric humor. xd Fair warning: Sometimes I do write shojou-ai. If you don't like it, let me know and I won't send you those.

I am a : Gamma
I write/read : Horror/Mystery/Romance
Other : I've been told I have some bad grammer problems so, I'd like someone to check that. Also, sentance structure. I just want someone to point out any mistakes I've made (I doubt I've made many) so I don't look like a fool. The story in question may have some mature themes, violence and gore wise.

I am a : Gamma
I write :fanfiction for Naruto
Other : I'd love a beta who is willing to break my story down and tell me exactly where I've gone wrong and what needs changed. Someone who can help me keep it IC and realistic. Someone who doesn't mind Shounen-ai, as that crops up a bit, and someone who doesn't mind swearing. I love to write and most of my chapters are 7000+ words long xd I also need someone with a good grip on grammer and how to make sentances flow.

I am a : Gamma
I write/ : fanfiction for X-Men and Rurouni Kenshin
Other :
I am mainly looking for someone to beta read my X-Men (possibly considered a Marvel crossover) continuing story as well as my occasional X-Men one-shots. I already have 19 chapters of the continuing story up so far (which no longer need beta-ing, but it's probably necessary to read them in order to understand the upcoming chapters), so someone with a serious interest in the Marvel universe would be ideal. My chapters usually run about 3,000 words.

I am a...
Gamma/beta. But because this is the gamma thread, I'll just talk about me as a gamma, here.

I write...
Mostly original fic (fantasy and/or sci-fi), with a bit of fanfiction for spice. Much to my surprise, the longest thing I've ever finished (55k words) was a fanfic for FF7. I'm looking for a beta for that (anyone?).

Also, I'm looking for a beta (either the same person or another; I don't really mind) for two sci-fi-ish shorter stories. Each is about 17k-18k words, and one is a direct sequel to the other. They're both complete, but...well, hey, it's a mini-series thing, so the over-all story-arc isn't yet finished.

...as you may be able to tell, I tend to prefer having things at least semi-complete before I send them off to be beta'd. Otherwise I start changing things too soon, get confused, and never, ever finish.

Anything else?
I wish I was eating chocolate ice cream right now. Mm, chocolate.

Aside from that, I'll note that the three main areas I need beta'd the most are:
1) Clarity of plot. This is probably the most important, 'cause I have way too many ideas in my head.
2) Characterization. Because...y'know...I'd like to get better at it.
3) Nit-picking. By this I mean being able to spot the occasional careless errors. I'm pretty good with spelling and grammar (nazi R I, yo), but I have more issues with careless errors. Generally, if there's going to be multiple revisions (well...at least one revision for points 1 and 2), I'd prefer it if said beta reviewed for nit-picking after I've had a chance to make the bigger changes.

...oh, and never fear, I edit all my stories before I ask others to edit them. So hopefully they're not too bad.

Cheers!

I am a : Gamma
I write : At the moment I'm stuck on Bleach fanfiction, but I also write original fantasy. Sometime in the near future I'd like to try science fiction.
Other : I'm not looking for someone to look at my grammer and spelling, I can check that on my own. I need someone who will....

... help me with dialouge. Most of the time I feel like my conversasions are.... lacking, to say the least. I'd like someone who can help me wuth that.
... keep me writing. All too often I hit walls in my writing, so it'd be nice to have someone who I can bounce ideas off of.

And in general just critique my writing. If I'm doing something thats cliche, or you think there's a better way to write that scene. Tell me when things are too rushed, or when I just need to hurry up.

I want someone who can give me good, solid advice.

I am a : Gamma
I write : At the moment nothing.
I read : Fantasy/Adventure, Sci-fi books.
Other : I've been out of school for a long time so my grammar has gone boohoo and I'm losing my vocab. I figured coming here can help me improve all the things I needed to achieve my dream of becoming a writer so this is my first step. Anyways, I'm looking forward to having fun roaming around here and hopefully get my spirits up again full of the determination to do what I know is within my reach. I'd prefer starting off with writing fantasy/adventure fiction and moving on to others after. Oh one warning, I can be a hard critique so if I do say some offensive stuff and appear overly hard, please try not to take it to heart.

I am a : Beta and a Gamma
I write : original science-fiction and fantasy and a bit of fanfiction for Pokemon and FMA.
Other : I'm looking specifically for at least one beta to look over my (short) FMA fic, with a focus on the accurate portrayal of canon characters.

I am a : Gamma
I write/Read : I write any Original fiction, while I read mostly Sci-fi, fantasy, or dramas. Oh, and plays too. I love the works of Shakespeare myself.
Other : I need someone to criticize me to no end - make sure that my best is never my best and my best is something better. Point out every single flaw, don't let a mistake pass by, and make sure my work is the best it can be. Cher.

I am a : Gamma and Beta
I write : Original horror and fiction.
Other : I sometimes over detail things in my story, so I may need someone to help me cut back on scenes in my stories that aren't needed or could be put in better ways. I also look for someone who can help me with dialogue and things like that, and story flow. Most of all, I need someone who is honest and brutal with their reviews. I write long stories, I just recently started a new book, and I like to have each of my chapters reviewed before I move on sometimes. (If that's not a problem. )

I am a:

Gamma and a Beta

I write:

Fanfiction, for the most part -- primarily Harry Potter and Yu Yu Hakusho, but with offshoots into Gundam Wing and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Other:

In general I can correct for grammar, spelling and the like myself, so I'm looking for a content-focused beta who'd be willing to engage me in long, involved conversations and debates about any and every point of interest or contention. I'd need any beta to be able and willing to tackle detailed and unlikely crossovers, weird and philosophical one-shots, one horrendously long work-in-progress with reams of sequel planning, and heavy (but generally not gratuitous) character torture. I tend to get so swamped in my details that I get stuck and can't finish anything, or so caught up in writing plot summaries that I lose my drive for actual fic-writing. I need help with balancing dialogue and narrative. I need help with not weighing my stories down in character development so much that I neglect my plot. I need help with avoiding writer's block so I'm not taking two-year hiatuses (like I've done once before) in the middle of my longer projects. I need help with pacing my stories, and in general learning how to avoid the problems I'm currently having. In short, I need a beta who'd be in it for the long haul, with whom I could develop a friendship and a good working relationship, and who won't mind my obsessive, perfectionist tendencies.

I am a : Gamma
I write : Original/fanfictions that are generally action/adventure oriented.

Just as a precaution, I'm a pretty extremist writer, so all my peaceful scenes are really peaceful and my action scenes usually get pretty graphic, depending on how large of a scale the fights are. I'm not that big of a romance writer, so a lot of it is toned down and I don't plan on including sexual content in my stories. Nevertheless, most of my stories are either rated PG-13 or R.

In the case of fanfiction I do write quite a few OCs, but I tend to write down the characters' attributes before scanning him/her through a Mary Sue Test. Nevertheless, I don't always trust my judgement.

Types of fanfiction I do write are: Inuyasha, Soul Calibur, a little bit of Harry Potter, even less of Full Metal Alchemist, and Kingdom Hearts. I used to do Rave Master fics, but not anymore.

Other : Things I need help on is toning down a lot of my flowery description and keeping my story organized.

Things like spelling, general grammar, and dialogue, I edit for myself, since those are easy to take care of, but it's okay if someone points out mistakes that kind of slipped through my fingers.

I am looking for a beta who is able to be concise and straight-to-the-point with their critiques. Conversely, I would like them to be simultaneously courteous and objective with their critiques. Tell me what's making my story bad and what's making it good, so I know which side to play up and which side to tone down.
