All of it was very rote, but it had exactly the opposite effect of reassuring him; he couldn't actually say that it was unnerving,' because above all else it seemed a little mundane, but he did think it was a little strange-- Pulling him - and apparently at least one other - in just to administer inkblots and a bloodtest.

He gave his head a mental shake, reflecting that he didn't always understand High Command.

He was stirred from his reverie by the final inkblot; for reasons unknown, his subconcious was suddenly loud, declaring that the splash of black on white was 'a cuckoo.' Scrutinizing it, Flashfire had to admit that the resemblance to said avian was... uncanny...

But he knew better than to give that reply during a psych test, so after a brief pause he finished, 'A bird on a tree-branch," and fell silent, rolling up his sleeve for the bloodtest.

Ricepaper groaned. "All right," she snapped testily into her cell phone. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" She jammed her cell angrily into her pocket and had to control herself before she broke the sunglasses she held in her hand. She slowly placed them over her eyes as she bit her lip and, highly frustrated, shoved some blue-green bangs out of her eyes. In her anger she forgot to remind herself that it was she who suggested they check up on a few agents. But then again, she wasn't the one who suggested that the select the agents to check up on without consulting her.

The young woman came to the room where MD was with Flashfire and she opened the door without knocking and let out a small sigh. "I apologize they had to throw this on you, MD," she said, her voice full of contempt for the higher-ups she was talking about. "I'll be taking these cases from here on out, but I would still like your assistance. Frankly, I'd rather not be doing this all together. If those arrogant fools would just listen every once in a while..." Here Ricepaper trailed off and she sighed again.

"Now, can you tell me where Agent G is? Some jerk decided to wake me up and tell me to get on her case A.S.A.P., along with Flashfire's," she added, nodding her head to Flashfire.

((Sorry if I'm intruding >.>;; ))

G wasn't quite there - but was.

Her mind was swimming - every so often seeing blurs of people, flashes in her eyes - she could feel things every now and then.

And she didn't know what to make of it.

Except...

She was suspicious.

Suspect.

Swimming.

((Rice, go for it.))

MD turned her head at the door opening, not really hearing Flashfire's response to the inkblot. She didn't actually expect someone to show up, and definately not while she was testing someone.

"Umm... hi Ricepaper. Some other agents took her somewhere, it was so sudden, I couldn't even ask where she was being taken. I did hear someone say "14" though. Why would they take her to that floor, though?

Oh, sorry about this Flashfire."

G sighed, as the room started coming back into focus.

There wasn't much to focus on, she recalled...

But it was better than looking at smears.

"Not a problem, of course," was Flashfire's reply, although the brief lines of conversation did set off a few mental alarum-bells; it looked like he definitely hadn't been the only one inconvenienced by... whatever this was. That being the case, he figured he may as well try for a little more illumination; as it was, he was more-or-less in the dark.

"However... I don't suppose that you might know why I'm here?" he asked, directing his words to the newly-arrived Agent Ricepaper. "Although, if you can't say anything about it right now, that's all right..."

"Well, since I'm not needed here, I guess I'll go. I hope to see you both later."

MD stood up while grabbing a few things and putting them in her bag. She just wanted to bring a few records with her to go over, maybe there was something she has missed in all of these files that would explain what was going on.

A small look of disapointment flashed over Ricepaper's face as MD stood and left, but she didn't make any move to stop the other agent. Once MD had left the room, she locked the door and went to sit down where MD had just been. She looked at flashfire and remover her dark glasses and cleaned them using the end of her coat. She watched what she was doing before she slipped the glasses into a large pocket in her coat and turned her sharp grey eyes to Flashfire.

"I will explain all that I can," she said slowly, as if in thought. "I work in the Mental and Psychological department, and because of recent events we are checking up on the loyalty and mental health of certain agents. Some of the higher-ups felt that you were worth looking into." Her eyes bored into his as she searched his face and eyes for a reaction.

"Since I'm here, I'll ask you a few questions before finding the other agent I've been assigned to look into. Am I clear?"

G stared at the ceiling.

Headache. Pounding.

She groaned. This would not be fun.

Somewhere, she heard, low and muffled, "She's coming to. Let her know..."

MD walked down the hall towards the elevators. She was going to go find G on the 14th floor. Not many people had clearance for this floor, one of the many reasons she was happy that she had some authority. She walked into the elevator and pressed the number 14. The computer asked her for her access card and then a scan of her body. Once she was cleared, she felt the elevator start to go down. Yes, the 14th floor, one of the bottom-most floors in the building.

"Let's hope they haven't done anything to her yet."

A nurse entered the room.

"Someone's coming to see you," she said.

"Great," croaked G. "Tell that person to get me out of here."

"Don't be so cocky," replied the nurse. "You're not getting out of here until you've been evalua--"

"I'VE BEEN EVALUATED!" G exclaimed. "What more do you want?!"

The nurse silently jotted something down. G rested her head on the pillow, sighing. G was tired of these games.

Somewhere down the hall, the elevator made a "ping" as it came to the floor.

"Seems that your visitor's here," the nurse said, shuffling out of the room.

The elevator doors opened, letting MD walk out into the lobby of the 14th floor. It seemed like the nurses knew she was coming down to see G, so they had everything ready. One of the nurses was standing at the door of the quarantine area, ready to let MD in.

"If you'll follow me," the nurse said, as if she had the most authority out of the two.

MD followed the nurse into the room where G was, looking at all of the other rooms along the way. All of the "special cases" were kept here. Some of the agents that had been affected by something on a mission, mainly mental illnesses. MD could see why they'd bring G down here, especially after the way she acted during her evaluation.

When MD saw G's face, she could see her suffering. She knew she'd have to get her out of here if there was going to be any hope at saving her mentally. MD had seen some cases down here that only got worse as time went along, and that's not what she wanted for G. She walked up to her bed and sighed.

"Hey there, how're you holding up?"

"It's you," G mumured.

She laughed to herself.

"I feel like I'm pinned down to a trainwreck. And it's not letting me off."

G wriggled in her restraints, and sighed. She gained a more serious tone to her voice.

"I don't know what happened in there. I mean, if I did, I'd tell you all, and you'd probably wipe my memory of this whole thing and kick me out of here. But what I do know is that this headache is killing me, I'm starving, and I really gotta use the bathroom. I guess they've been drugging me so I can take care of that while not hurting the staff... but why would I do that? What happened to me?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 11:38 am

"We're going to figure all of that out. I just need to get you out of here. Nothing will be solved if you're down here, so I'm going to talk to one of the nurses. I'm going to take you back up to the regular hospital wing."

MD smiled at G a little, and then went off to find the head nurse. She knew the normal routine, papers had to be signed and stamped, things had to be put in folders. After all of that, the patient was allowed to leave with her. They were then under MD's control and she could bring them where she wanted. It's a good thing the people down here respected her, even just a little bit.

G sighed.

A place like this could drive a person crazy!

She shuddered a bit at the thought. What if that was the case? What if? What if?

Somewhere in the back of her mind, a Coldplay song took its cue and started playing wistful, minor chords. G laughed.

Laughing in a place like this could get you in trouble.

Laughing in a place like this keeps me alive.

The nurse and a few attendants came in a moment later, taking the IV out of her arm and freeing her from the restraints. One of them wrapped her new wound in a bandage - the gauze coveirng the wound itself a bit more than moist. G sat up, a bit disoriented, shaking the feeling of the restraints from her body.

"You're under her supervision now," the nurse said, informatively. "You are also to report to Agent Ricepaper as soon as she is done with her other evaluation.

G nodded, a bit sleepily.

There was someone else...?
