Jamans

What??
How can you say that his early stuff is junk???
I love "The Man who sold the World!" It's wonderful! So is Hunky Dory!
*sighs*

I'm pretty sure he means the even older stuff; think "The Laughing Gnome," "Sell Me a Coat," and all that.

My fave used to be Hunky Dory, but now i'ma listning to Diamond Dogs alot. It'll probably change. Ziggy's pretty good. I can't belive "Moonage Daydream" made it to the best of cd, but "Rock 'n Roll Suicide" didn't!

How can you ask me to choose a favorite?! gonk They are all so wonderful! *.* Well, I know I love, Never Let Me Down, because it has an 80's sound to it, and I love the 80s. But I also love Hunky Dory. Its just a classic, I mean, it has Life On Mars, which is one of my fave songs, plus Fill Your Heart and Kooks, and so many other great songs. There's Ziggy Stardust too, which obviously has Ziggy Stardust on it, and I think that song changed rock and roll forever. Diamond Dogs should have been made into a rock musical and deserved to be because of its timeless and bone chilling tunes, plus it has Rebel Rebel. Labyrinth is my favorite movie of all time, I mean, I even dressed up as Jareth for Halloween last year and sung and danced to "Magic Dance" while trick-or-treating. All the songs on that movie are genius and As The World Falls Down is beautiful, in my opinion. Alladin Sane is a rock essential. I cant get enough of Time or Cracked Actor, not to mention Alladin Sane. And lets not forget Lets Dance, which sold more than 8 million copies!!! But the new stuff is great as well, like Outside. I love the darkness to Hearts Filthy Lesson. Plus there's Reality, on which I love New Killer Star, and Reality. ... mrgreen *Sigh* All of Davids albums are so wonderful, I simply can't pick a favorite! heart heart heart

I really, really like Hunky Dory, but I also like Ziggy, and from a technical standpoint it's the best one (either that or the Man Who Sold the World).

I love alot of David's music but I more or less listen to the Let's Dance album more though. Some of his 80s stuff was good. Although I'm not a big fan of some of the 90s stuff. But still, it's good music!

rofl That makes for some hilarious quotage, Freecloud! XD

Well...I've had several personal favorites, and they change often. I think the first Bowie album I actually sat down and listened to was Diamond Dogs, but I wasn't in love with it or anything. Then I got utterly hooked on Aladdin Sane for a while, and did the same with Space Oddity, ESPECIALLY "Janine" (most unimaginably underrated Bowie song EVER. It's just so beautiful, simplistic and intriguingly deep at the same time.) and, of course, the legendary Ziggy Stardust in quick succession. In retrospect, I'm not sure exactly what it was about Aladdin Sane that grabbed me so. Maybe it was the catchy riffs in songs like "Panic in Detroit" and "Jean Genie"? Because I still pop it in occasionally, but it's just not quite the same caliber as the others, for some reason, at least it is with me. Maybe because it kind of lacks the recurring theme(s) that some of his other work has?

So, right now, I've fallen in love with The Man Who Sold The World. It's just pure artsy hard rock poetic madness, y'know? Bowie really has a penchant for the bizarre...seriously, "All The Madmen" and "She Shook Me Cold" are keepers...it's just so good, all the way through.

And I still haven't gotten around to listening to Hunky Dory! gonk You guys seem to collectively appreciate its value, so I just might check it out since the "Man Who Sold The World"-obsessed high is starting to wear off a bit now. XD
