Nodding pleasantly at Cynara, Zaphiro gestured through the trees with his muzzle. "Well, in that case it's just this way. A bit shorter than taking the path, if you don't mind a bit of trekking.
As they walked along, Zaphiro was actually thinking the total opposite of what Cynara was thinking. His own long mane was good at getting in his face, and right now it was doing its best to get tangled in the branches of the trees they were passing beneath. Bloody annoying, that was certainly true.
Ducking beneath the trees, he gave Cynara a quick glance at her question, then smiled. "Yes, I do quite a bit of traveling. Periodically I wander back to the teepee, but for the most part I enjoy being out and enjoying the countryside. Do you often leace your teepee?"

"Not at all," she didn't mind at all traveling with Zaphiro. No one happened to get on her nerves but she did grow tired of some and yet he did not tire her...odd. Even her beloved father could wear her down, that isn't hard to believe.
She was jealous of his mane, though it did seem to get caught a few spots. She wanted to pick it out a few times, but he handled himself well. It seemed that she and others were always wanting what they didn't have, god awful truth.
She walked under the tree with ease, being short and petite had its advantages. "The same, I am rarely at my teepee. Gets lonesome ever so often, but its always nice to have a decent conversation." she smiled, winking to him.

Crunching along through the fallen leaves, Zaphiro had to duck a few more times before the space between the trees widened, meaning that the two Soquilis could walk without fear of getting poked by low hanging braches. That was one thing that the meadowlands had over the woods, that much was certain.
As they walked out into the sunlight, Zaphiro tossed his mane in attempt to get out the stray twigs that had stayed tangled in it following his brush with the trees. "Ah, the joys of having long hair when you're around trees. Can you tell why I prefer to be out in the open?"
Smiling, he nodded his head in agreement to her words, though he quirked a brow at her logic. "Are you saying your teepee doesn't provide decent conversation? Sounds like your father would be heartbroken at such a revelation."

She looked to him, and laughed slightly...he had a few twigs in his mane and they stuck out ever so randomly. She went closer to him, "If you don't mind..." she plucked them out with ease, not pulling his mane at all. She had experience with Maeve and Moki. What could she say? She was a professional.
"I do not, I think long manes are unique and not to mention more I don't know they look prettier to me." she smiled, as she stumbled over her words. "I get stuck with a short mass of straight hair while you get long, ringletts." These did not make him anymore femine however he was truly masculine. She liked them though, while despising her own softly.
"Eh, my father doesn't talk about much...random things everyonce in awhile. Mostly stressing the importance of staying away from stallions, and things of the sort." she shrugged, chuckling at his comment of it being a revelation.

It only took a moment for Zaph to realize what it was that Cynara was trying to do, and he oblidgingly lowered his head to facilitate her twig-removal. "My thanks; sometimes it can take those things a long time to work their way out on their own."
Raising his head as soon as the last twig was out, Zaphiro shook his head in response to Cynara's words; though he knew that she was being sincere, it was something that he had to disagree with himself. "I can understand the desire of a mare to have curls, but on a stallion they're extremely effeminate to say nothing of impractical. I'm sure that they'd be very attractive on a female...though I must say that you carry short hair well. It's a very flattering style, given your bone structure."
As he spoke, he was studying Cynara's mane; obviously she wasn't fond of her own hair, but he found it to be very cute. Besides that, short hair had to be less of a problem. At her comment about her father, though, he found his muzzle quirking into a smile. "Avoiding stallions, huh? Would that he knew you were talking to one right now!"

"My pleasure," she smiled gently to him. She didn't mind an excuse to touch those long locks. Nah. She wasn't that into him, just to help a guy out.
"I have curls," she flicked her tail, "just sort of faded..." she smiled. She blushed when he spoke of her 'bone structure' he was paying attention to her facial features that delicatly? This wsa her turn to shake her head, "Your curls to do not make you any less masculine than you are, nor give any feminacy to you." She looked to him, "If anything more striking."
"Hmm..." she thought about it, "He'd probably go on, saying if you didn't have morals I shouldn't ever speak to you again...if you tried to hurt me he would find you and do things I don't even want to know about with Moki, my brother." she spoke with a slight sarcasm but with an odd serousness. Her eyes looked to him more gently and with a slight sparkle, "I don't think he'd mind you though."

"You're too kind." Grinning slightly, Zaphiro inclined his head at Cynara, more than a little amused by the combination of blushing and compliments. He was no stranger to the way that mares could act sometimes, so he was more than aware that his prescence was getting to her. Of course, a gentleman didn't make assumptions...but that didn't mean he couldn't notice things.
A sage expression on his face, he listened as she proceded to explain exactly what her father and/or brother might do. Call him crazy, but it sounded like there was a strong sense of protectiveness running in her family. "Excuse me if I"m prying, but are you by any chance the only daughter in your family, Cynara?"

"Oh I try." she replied while beaming. She had noticed that he was picking up on her blushing and perhaps a little something more...she would conceal herself more now. Her emerald orbs looked to him as he spoke, almost predicting what he was going to say. She had got it more than once, mostly the time Cyrus prescence was accounted for.
"Not prying at all, Zaphiro. I am the youngest, I have an older sister and Moki is the eldest." she looked to him almost sorrowfully, "He's more protective now than ever...because of past events." she almost choked up, she knew why she just didn't know this was how she would react. Obviously there still lay that hidden pain, said.

Or maybe he was mistaken on the specifics, but he knew that there had to be some special reason why Cynara was 'protected'. He'd never quite understood the trend of looking after the youngest child as though it were a foal forever; parental protectiveness made sense up to a point, but then you simply had to let go. Not that Zaphiro was an authority for parent/child relations, of course; it had just always seemed odd when parents specifically focused on ONE child who seemed perfectly capable of looking out for themself.
However, when Cynara mentioned 'past events' he got the distinct impression that in this case, at least, protectivity might be warranted. In this case, though, he wouldn't be asking for details; the cloud that crossed her expression was enough to tell him that this was something painful to her, and therefore probably something she didn't feel like discussing, particularly not with a stranger. Therefore, probably a good time to change the subject!
Glancing around the meadow, he took note of how sparse and bare it looked. What to do, what to do... "So, what do you like to do on warm days, Cynara?"

Hmm...she was thinking to herself. She had noticed that he had changed the subject, she hadn't known she looked hurt still from the past. I guess broken doesn't always go away. She smiled as he did so, maybe he cared for her feelings or just didn't want to deal with a highly emotional mare on that paticular topic. Ah well.
She looked to him with a brow raised, "Swim, race, play with the little tykes that romp and play." she shrugged. "Anything to keep me from..." she blinked. Something cold hit her flank, and then more cold prods filld her it started to...snow. "getting bored." It was sunny..ish and snowing? Odd. But this had happened before, it was rather pretty. She looked to him, "Interesting."

Ask and ye shall receive; suddenly it seemed as if Zaphiro was getting a vertable smorgasboard of options. So much for overt timidity!
Amused at her sudden change of direction, he was about to reply when he too began to feel the impact of falling snow. Bright and sunny as it was, he was a little caught off guard by the sudden flurrying, but looking upwards his gaze quickly settled on the culprit; a fat little cloud almost directly overhead. Apparently it had gotten seperated from its storm front or something...but whatever the reason, the snow was certainly refreshing.
Looking from the sky to his companion, Zaphiro cracked another smile. "Obviously something felt the need to remind us that it's still winter. That being said..." Now the corner of his smile turned up a little more, becoming more of a teasing smile than it had previously been. "What are your opinions of cold-water swimming?"

"I wouldn't know." she smiled back, "I have never cold water swam." She watched as he had a 'teasing' sort of grin and truth be told she didn't mind it either. She was actually enjoying his company more than any she could say for the moment. His golden markings were fun to watch when the sun shone down upon them.
A soft smile emerged inside her as she thought about it. Looks weren't the only thing you needed in any good relationship. Friend or more, but he seemed intelligent enough. Not some muscular, good looking brute who knew the words 'hi' and on a good day, 'hello.'

Well, that was something at least; nothing like a new experience to brighten up an otherwise ordinary day. "Ah, so you were suggesting something that you were unfamiliar with? Well, I myself am rather partial to swimming, especially in cold water; one of my herdmates has offered the helpful suggestion that it is because I am so blue already that the cold doesn't affect me. But whatever the reason...it's at the veru least stimulating."
However, that wasn't to say that maybe Cynara wasn't good with the cold. He strongly doubted she would have suggested swimming if she had an aversion to water or was unable to swim, though; that would be a bit ridiculous on her part, and while she had indicated it was indeed possible for her to be silly, he doubted she was foolish.
That in mind, he headed off in the direction of the river, his curly tail flicking slightly in the breeze. "I'm assuming you know your own capabilities, though; cold water can be quite a shock to the system if you're not used to it, and the last thing you must want is to pass out from cold!" That would be difficult for many reasons, actually!

She had swam in the summer to cool off, but to swim in cold water in the winter? It almost seemed...unreal? She had heard of hot springs swimming in the winter, now that she had done. But he was so intent in swimming in the river she didn't mind. She looked to him as he walked off towards the river, she blushed at his backside. She was quite modest. It went away as soon as she trotted to his side.
She listened as she could feel her heart stop almost when he said she could go into shock or pass out. Oh well, she got over it and would tough it out for a day. "So do you cold water swim often?" she asked. He seemed to know a lot about it and was interested in what he liked to do.

Unaware that he was an object of scrutiny even if just for a moment, Zaphiro craned his head around to look at Cynara as he answered her question, as he was one of the types that liked to look at the individual they were speaking to. "Quite often, actually; it's very theraputic for me, and helps me to relax. I can't stand the heat most of the time, not when it's the kind that makes your mane stick to your body and wilt, and I guess I've just come to enjoy cold-water bathing too much to stop now!"
He was smiling, his white teeth flashing against the dark blue of his hide, but the smile flickered for a moment as once again something occured to him. "You will say something if the cold is too much for you, right Cynara? It would be very distressing to me if you were to handle the cold badly."
