"Well, it's more a need to make myself become as lost as possible. I have a lot of artistic skill, I'm hoping that will get me by. I'd rather not fall onto mercenary practices, though the skills are there."
She'd done a very good job of answering his question without really telling him anything at all. Her pretty eyes were full of the kind of mischief he liked, though.
"Sure, I'll take the tour." He followed after her onto the ship.

~Barton~
Just another random pub...
A lone figure pushed off the back end of a table, even as the rest of a chair came crashing down, splintering into pieces. A single yellowed eye widened even as the sound of metal on wood screeched out, both feet coming to a halt.
"Jeez-- what a temper." Standing at full height, the cloak wrapped around the figure fell open, the hood thrown back from the action, revealing tousled raven hair.
"Ta'ka... close yer eyes. I don't want you to see this." He was speaking of course to the person behind him, equally cloaked.
The knuckles on his gloved right hand tightened, even as he moved forward.

Tiamika nodded, and shuffled backwards away from where the chair had landed, giving him room for...whatever he was doing. Then she squeezed her eyes shut tight, trusting him to protect her.
She didn't see the single golden snake that oozed through the wall of the tavern, glowing dimly gold and looking about. Nor did most of the patrons; even the most sober looked straight through it as if it wasn't there. Vahn was the only one who could see it, looking identical to the golden lines that had led him to Knights and Jean so long ago. It just sat there, regarding him lazily, like a cat does when its waiting for something.
~Gambino~
"Gotcha."
Only about five minutes after hanging up with Lucind, Owle opened her eyes. Vahn was closer than she'd thought, it wouldn't be long at all to reach him, as long as he didn't move too fast for her to catch him. It would be hours rather than the days she'd anticipated. If only Ryuji was around to give her a ride, it would have gone faster...
Leaving a note on the table for Rand and the dwarves (she'd stopped leaving notes for Rage since he rarely seemed to find and read them, and he wasn't shy about giving her a mental holler if he wanted to know where she'd gone) Owle shouldered her bag and went out the door, her scaled feet making strange footprints in the sand.
...into the woods we go again, to start another journey.

Leading him over the ramp, they landed on the middle deck, after a harmless jump down behind the railing - the second part of the ramp on the other side, which made it easier to bring the barrels aboard, had already been removed. Affectionately snuggled in between the higher bow and the much higher quaterdeck, the middle deck provided more protection from wind and water than other types of sailing ships usually did. Tagis turned around and, making a somewhat clumsy gesture, she watched Sun following. "Welcome to the Fairuza." Behind the woman, on the other side of the ship, three men hove a large, woodden grating off the ground to close a hatch, through which all the goods must've vanished earlier. One of them, standing out against the other two since looking clean, almost neatly dressed and, well, much less piratey, turned his head and nodded when Tagis herself asked if everything was okay. This man was nearly about Sunstrike's height, though extremely thin, making you want to offer him some food - and all in all, he was one of those persons whose appearance invited you to look twice, even though every corner of this planet hid all kind of fantastic, wonderful - or repulsing races: His hair was of a light blond, as good as white, not longer than three inches and hold back with a dark head band; with his pale complexion and even features you wondered why he didn't work as a male model. Those eyes, however, gave you a hint why: it was impossible to tell where the pupil ended and the iris began, there was just a pool of darkness, contrasting with the white part around. "By the way... Prishazan? This here is Sunstrike, our cook this time. Chances are we don't have to go on diet again, haha...!" "....ah." The white haired gazed from his captain to Sunstrike and back. Tagis walked over to Sun and grinned loopsided. "Fine man, excellent mate. But not a trace of humour." She sighed theatrically and winked. "Alright. Here we go." Turning right, the woman entered the room protruding from the quarterdeck ((I.b 1)) - and led Sunstrike right into a small area stuffed with two computers, several screens and control desks, all of whom could've been found on a modern, high-tech yacht, for example. The galley, conference, common and captain's room didn't burst with luxury but still created some confusion after the ship's rather old-school, worn out outer look. The lower deck on the other hand apparently had had a lot feet running or shuffling over the planks. Yet, there were no leaks, rats or strange...odors. The question thus was: Had this ship been designed according to the 'used look', just like young people loved to wear their jeans nowadays - or was the Fairuza really an old lady that had undergone some plastic surgery?

With a half step forward, he leaned to the outside, avoiding the swing of yet another chair, even as he raised his knee up, shattering through the chair and into the guy's leaning face.
Blood splattered as the nose was broken, and then the overweight body was flung backwards.
Grabbing hold of his mug, another was moving in towards the side that Vahn had leaned in, aiming to hammer him with a double fist. Vahn's left arm simply extended, the knuckles striking into gut, before each finger expanded, and sended the guy blowing backwards.
It was at that time that he noticed a snake hanging in mid-air. "!?"

Tiamika was shaking slightly, listening to all the sounds of violence. It was only her hope that none of them were injuries being inflicted on Vahn, she couldn't know for sure...
...all she knew was that he would be there for her when the fighting was over.
The snake was content to sit there and stare at Vahn, within arm's reach. It didn't do anything, didn't say anything, just sat and watched.
---
In the meanwhile, Owle was following the body of that snake to Vahn's location.
((If you want we can speed time up till Owle arrives.))

And a'swingin' came a beer bottle, crashing right atop our friendly idiot's head.
While he'd been busy staring at something no one else could see, a friend of the fallen had plucked up the courage to move in and try to knock the crazy b*****d down.
Unfortunately, all he succeeded in doing was cracking Vahn's head and causing blood to seep.
"....." With a turn of his head, he gave the most absolutely evilest glare in the guy's direction.
Moments later, the window of the tavern exploded outwards, as a body came flying through it. Landing in a huff, a broken bottle could be seen still clutched in its hand.
"Jeez... talk about bein' sore losers." Shaking the beer off his hair, he whirled, making sure the girl was safe first of all, before going right up to the golden snake and yanking on it-- figuratively and physically if possible.
"Well, well-- What do we have here!"

Tiamika was safe, still standing stock still with her eyes shut. There was silence now, for a moment, but she couldn't be sure the fight had ended...especially when he started shouting to another person
The snake's eyes literally bugged out as he grabbed it by the throat and yanked it further through the wall. Cartoon like, it was as if by squeezing one part of it he was making the other bits pop out.
Normally, Owle's snakes couldn't be affected in the physical world. Their realm was the realm of thought and thought alone. But if Vahn thought he could yank on the snake, and in one panicked moment Owle believed he could...
"Ack! Um...hi, Vahn." Owle's voice sounded in his head, and the sweatdrop was actually visible. "Hey, er..."
She didn't seem to know where to begin. He'd left her without a word, maybe he didn't even want to talk to her, but Lucind had sent her to find him and well...

"Figured it was you." He let the snake go, his hand releasing even as he took a step back.
There would be a bit of an awkward silence to say the least... considering last they had seen of each other was when he came through that portal with both Sun's body in tow and a werewolf.
There was still a lot left unsaid between the two of them* and he didn't exactly know how it would resolve itself. Well, there was a lot left unsaid about himself of course.
She had always been candid with him... but he was as aloof as ever (think Gambit from the X-Men). So much for the tall, dark and handsome bit.
"Been a while... Owle."
*Since this takes place before HoH, and after Guldor/SoG, things wouldn't exactly be rosy between Vahn and Owle, Owle wouldn't know about Sierra at this point either.

"Yeah...yeah it has."
She let silence drag on for a bit between them. Waiting for him to say something, anything, to let her know where she should stand.
Finally she could take it no more.
"Well, um...Lucind asked me to find you. Seems she needs some help with something, and she'd like the two of us to meet her in Latent. Is that alright with you?"
Yup, that's right, Owle. Talk about everything except the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
((Owle STILL doesn't know about Sierra in HoH.
And yeah...but Owle's just awkward, not angry at this point.))

He found himself, quietly biting his lip as he tried to come up with the proper way of saying things... "So... been a while since I saw you without any clothes on... er.... So... been a while since we saw each other... wanna meet up later tonight....? Ah... hey sorry for ditching you, wanna catch a movie...?"
Of course, since he was speaking telepathically with Owle, he'd be rehearsing possible lines verbally, causing more than half of the patrons there to wonder if he'd gone nuts.
He was dangling a mug of milk for the girl all the while as well, having remember they'd come in to get her something to drink.
Oh... yea... um...sure. I kinda do owe her anyway, for helping me get my arm fixed up.
"Sorry for being a jerk."

What Vahn didn't realize was that, because he'd started out by speaking aloud to the snake, Owle was listening to what he was saying aloud...
Since he didn't mean her to hear it, she picked it up as being a little bit softer than what he'd said before, and so leaned in closer to get a better listen.
What she heard made her want to hit him, laugh at him, and just smile all at once. So she smiled.
"Just why did you ditch me, anyway...?"
Tiamika heard the sounds of the fighting stop. Vahn was talking to someone, peacefully...
She cracked one light eye open, and came face to face with a mug of milk. A broad smile lit her face, and the girl grasped it in two hands, pulling it to her lips and chugging it down.
"Ah."
"Sorry for being a jerk."
She looked about, trying to see who had joined them at their table. She thought she'd caught the name Owle...that was the girl Vahn had mistaken her for, right? Was she here? Tiamika wanted to know what she looked like, wanted to know what she was like...she obviously meant a lot to Vahn, so Ta'ka was naturally curious.
Ignoring the massive milk mustache on her face, the girl turned to Vahn. "Hey, Vahn...who're you talking to?"

"Ah... that's...well..." He was struggling on how to respond when the girl cut in, causing him to remember where he was. It dawned on him that the talking into thin air thing wasn't exactly winning him points over in any sort of normalcy.
People were already givinghim weird looks, but not doing much else after seeing what happened to the last groupd that tried messing with him.
"It's nothin', just drink up and go use the bathroom. We'll be on our way again." He gave the girl a pat and ruffled her hair a bit, before turning and going to wait outside the Tavern.
I... had some business to take care of.
Even if Yaits was gone, he was still an employee of the corporation, a mercenary for their use as they saw fit. And Shades of Grey had seen him acting on the interests of said company.
It was his way of repaying the debt for his arm... even if they ******** him over by rigging said arm.

Tiamika gave him a really weird look. Oh, well...maybe Vahn was going crazy, but that wasn't a pleasant thought at all...Owle must have left before Ta'ka opened her eyes, that was it. Yeah, that was definitely it...Vahn was fine, he hadn't been drinking too much, and he wasn't going crazy. Yeah.
She gave him a tiny smile as he ruffled her hair, then downed her milk and went to use the bathroom. It wouldn't do to keep Vahn waiting!
"Yeah...you always seem to." There was no disguising the hurt in Owle's voice. "I'm only a thought away, you know...
"You could at least tell me."

Placing the shades back onto his face, he turned his head to the side, looking down the streets.
My head isn't exactly a wonderful place to be, last time I checked.
Considering the last time Vahn had dealt heavily with hi sown psyche resulted in both Owle and Lucind creating psionic shields to keep the devil within, he wasn't exactly ready to go running about with things to do with the mind.
Being brainwashed, having false memories implanted in you, and dealing with a ancenstral persona kinda ******** you over.
Where are you guys anyway... Latent? I'm over in Barton and I can catch the next train up.
