Unfortunately, Taji did not speak Ardia. Completely misinterpreting the other girl's gestures, Taji reached forward and grasped the end of her umbrella. "Limbo?" She guessed at Ardia's charades, scratching her own nose with her free hand.
Madeleine overlooked the two girls out of the corner of her eyes, occasionally glancing towards the other woman. Feeling that she should try and not appear off-putting -- especially to the apparent mother of someone her daughter might become close friends with -- she finally cleared her throat and turned to Hostel. "Your daughter is quite unique, isn't she? Beautiful, though. I imagine bedsheets and pillows are a little difficult to handle, though." She smiled.

Cerena Unfortunately, Taji did not speak Ardia. Ardia rolled her eyes, yanking the umbrella out of Taji's reach. No bowing? The ridicule! "Na," Ardia humphed, "Not. I win anyway," She nodded proudly, pointing out to the girl, now, that she was, most obviously, the master of everything. Hostel fidgeted a little, twiddling her fingers together and allowing a tiny smile to creep onto her face. "Umm, yes, indeed, thank you. And, oh, did you know your daughter has...things...floating around her?" Hostel had just noticed this, and was quite concerned by it. Even in the contstant presence of Ardia, Hostel still took a little shock everytime a child had something so apperantly odd about them. ((@Tadaaki: I drew it heart ))

"Wha?" Was it possible for someone to automatically win without even playing? Taji considered this very carefully with a look of utter confusion plastered to her face, her features finally relaxing as she decided that she really, really liked ice cream.
"Ma! Mamamamamamamaaa!" She turned to harass her mother, throwing her arms around the other woman's legs and burying her face in her skirts. Madeleine murmured "What is it?" amusedly, not ever having seen Taji submit to such apparent acts of shyness, and quickly checked her daughter's gravitational halo for the cause of the other woman's concern. Star, star, heart charm, star, star -- oh. A clump of dustbunnies from an unclean corner they'd passed, apparently. She very carefully reached out and removed it, sliding it into her pocket until she could locate a trashcan.
"I wan' ice cream." Taji mumbled into her mother's skirts, and continued before Madeleine could protest, gesturing grandly to Ardia, "For her too! Look, she is hot."
So she was, Madeleine mentally sighed. "Is that alright with you?" She asked Hostel, carefully pulling out her purse and removing a few dollars to give to her daughter for ice cream.

Ardia spun the froggie umbrella proudly. Clearly she had some divine effect on the little talkative child, and she nodded with a flourish. "Nah, can' eat icey-cream. Melts." She thought for a moment, twirling the eyed-and-tongued umbrella a little more, then, "But choc'lt is good."
Hostel shrugged and nodded a little. "Of course...but please, I will pay for Ardia...I will not ask you for money." She nodded a little, more to herself than anything, and delved her hands into her pockets. This was the longest person-to-person converstation she had been in for quite sometime, and was getting jittery with excitement.
Pulling out a few gold coins, she pressed them into Ardia's expectant, outstretched palm, curling the young spirit's fingers around it so as not to drop them everywhere, and mumbling, "Get what you want, honey..."

"Alright." Madeleine smiled, deciding not to press the issue. She had noticed the other woman's apparent nervousness and had to wonder if this was a byproduct of having such an apparently headstrong daughter or -- well, it really wasn't any of her business, no matter how curious she was. But, before she could allow her own daughter to run off -- "Taji, have you decided on your bandaids?"
"Yes!" The star spirit said immediately, looking up from where she'd been folding her bills into small, green, and lopsided paper airplanes. She pointed to the box of dinosaur ones. "Those."
"Okay." Deciding that it was better to clean her up now and pay for it at the counter (hopefully the cashier would be understanding) than it would be for her daughter to run around with bloody knees, Madeleine picked up the box and the bottle of antiseptic she had decided on and, crouching down, quickly applied the latter to each knee.
"OWWW," howled Taji, attempting to twist away and bang into things with her knees to get the burning and sudden itching to wane. An expert of her daughter's various tricks and nonsensical ways by now, however, the elder woman caught her by the hips and very easily held her still, murmuring soothing things, until finally she opened the box of bandaids and very gingerly sealed each of the wounds with one of the war-patches.
"There," she said finally, standing up again, "All better. You may go with your friend now."
"I'm gonna get chocolate too, if, if..." She turned her gaze to her new friend confusedly. "What is your name anyway? --Well if she is getting chocolate, I will too! We will be chocolate friends. It is this way!" And without waiting for much of an answer, she immediately darted off the hall before her mother thought to put more of the stinging stuff on her, and made a beeline for the display of candy near the front of the store.

"Choc'lt friends?" Ardia mused over this for a moment, before she suddenly realised her friend was gone. "Haay!" She called, running after Taji, and nearly knocking several children over, flailing her umbrella wildly. Skidding to a stop next to her friend, hands singeing her umbrella a little from excitement, she looked over. "Ardia," She said, simply, remembering she had been asked, and extending her free hand to Taji.
Hostel shuffled her feet a little, and turned back to the shelves of bandaids.

[GAAAH *flails arms* Sorry for interupting, ya'll. ;_;
After reading over Weasel's info, I think I like him more than Ardia. Fire and heat and volcanoes is such a cliche quest idea (*shakes her fist at Ilistala*), and, to me, something weather-related--especially bad weather--is refreshing. I like the way you write things: a first-person narrative with this sort of world-weary, sarcastic undertone. J'adore! heart
The only thing that I find a bit wrong with this is that the little blurb where he talks about being a tangible person, followed by the mini info thing, lacks a really solid explanation about his personality. I'm weird in that if everything isn't set up in a profile format, then I feel like I can't exactly grasp the concept. Just have a couple of sentences about what he's really like; they don't even have to be super informative, since the POV gives good info. Know what I mean? XD;
All in all, I love this concept! I really hope you get him, since you seem to have a good grasp on the English language and making up believeable, well-rounded characters! heart ]

[Lmao, you're not interrupting anything at all, Ioyla <3]
"Arrrrdia," tried Taji, rolling her new chocolate friend's name around on her tongue before beaming her a sunny grin. "I like it! I will call you Ardy. What kind of chocolate do you like?"
She wasn't sure what she would get herself. She loved starbursts -- especially the cherries, limes, and pink lemonades -- but they easily got stuck to her teeth and just would not come off. M&Ms were very good too, she liked making pictures with them before eating them, and they tended to last very long, but there was not very much chocolate in a single m&m. Kitkats were good too, except no one ever broke into song and dance to ask for one when you unwrapped them like they used to in the good ole days.
The easter candy had just been set out, and Taji eyed a package of lemony yellow peeps hungrily -- but it wasn't on sale yet, and with the price as it was, she couldn't afford to buy them or any of the large chocolate bunnies she looked at next.

[Iyoooolaaaa!! <3 <3 Thank you so much! Yeah, I know it only mentions him being a little moody once, but I'm the opposite of you XD I can't stand those "likes, dislikes, favorite etc." I can't do them.]
Ardia twirled her umbrella a little more, humming in thought. 'What melts the slowest?' She wondered to herself, casting her golden eyes up and down the rows of treats.
"Them ones," Ardia declaired, indicating a pile of sour rock-candies. Admitedly, Ardia couldn't stand sour things, and her face was likely to screw into a malformed image of dislike, but Ardia couldn't read either.
Rattling the gold in her pudgy, glowing hand up at the counter, she asserted herself with a loud "Ahem!" of impatience. Quite incredibly, the gold hadn't reduced to puddles of expensive slime in her hand, only turned white-hot. Suprising, as Ardia had been clutching them tight, and even a normal, sweaty toddler's hand would have at least warmed them up...and Ardia was a volcano.

"Ok!" said Taji agreeably, raising herself up on tiptoes to fetch the chosen bag of candy for the volcano girl. She trailed behind, crouching down and squinting at the various bags of candy until they all became little more than blurred streaks of rainbow to her, and it was only after she finally, carefully picked a bag of skittles that she joined Ardia at the counter.
The only cashier working that day was a rather intimidating young man with an uneven haircut, badly dyed black and with his plain brown roots showing, sporting eyeliner and three different facial piercings. "I DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY TIME," blared the headphones hanging loosely around his neck, "AND BECOME A CASUALTY OF SOCIETY." (He looked remarkably like Rhine, Taji thought idly to herself, balancing on one foot and scratching the back of it with her other, except for all the brown on the head and the silver in the face.)
The cashier pretended his hardest not to notice the two children (honestly, parents these days, he wasn't paid to look after hellspawn) and drummed his fingers boredly against the counter. Taji leaned up once more and placed their candy hopefully in front of him and waited while Ardia said "AHEM." His fingers froze mid-beat; without turning his head his eyes slid down and focused on the two children.
Only weeks of training prevented him from shooing them away with a flyswatter like he wanted to. "H..ow can I help you?"

"Them ones." Ardia pointed at the condy on the counter, then slaped the coins down next to them. "For these." She twirled the umbrella again, eyeing the headphones with dull interest. The music appealed to her already, at such a young age, and she cracked a small, toothy grin.
Wanting to appear tough and impressive in front of her new friend, Ardia puffed out her chest a little, as if to point out what a good job she had done, giving the man his payment, and how grown up she was, doing it all by herself.
