At every tree, the goat paused a moment to look up at Miss Aylana, in case she thought he might be headed the wrong way or something. But so far, she had not said anything, so he must be remembering it all right. He lead her out to the next tree, and was about to leave for the next one when he stopped again and looked back at the stump.

"I think this is where I slept last night," he told her, though in truth, Donat had been so tired at the time he scarcely remembered where he had finally crashed for a rest. This one did look right, though. So that meant he was at right at least so far.

Why was Miss Aylana talking to her tummy? She had a big tummy - wait, she must have a baby! Donat had seen a lady with a big tummy once before talking to it like that, and Daddy had told him that she was going to have a baby.

He had best make sure, though.

"Is Miss Aylana having a baby?" he asked, eyes shining with curiosity. ... A baby needed a mommy and a daddy, though. He had not seen Miss Aylana with a daddy yet, and Donat himself just had a Daddy, with no mommy.

... Oh dear.

Donat chewed fretfully on a fingertip. "Is Daddy the baby's daddy?" the goat inquired ever-so-quietly after a few moments.

Donat's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Like a little brother or sister?" he asked in awe, clenching his hands into little fists of excitement at the idea. There were two of them in there? How did they both fit?

"Can you feel the babies kicking?" the goat further questioned, cocking his head to the side as he reached one hand out towards Miss Aylana's tummy. He stopped before he touched her though, and looked up at her; energetic as he felt, he figured he should probably make sure it was okay before he tried to feel the babies kicking.

The goat placed one hand and then the other on Aylana's stomach ever so gently, and got very quiet.

A grin spread across his face as he felt little kicks and wiggles from within. Finaly, he ventured to break the silence: "... Do they ever fight in there?"

"Okay," Donat said with a nod as he withdrew his hands. He turned in a full circle, looking around. "Um, which way were we going again?"

"Donat!" a familiar voice rang out up ahead in the trees.

"Aylana, is that you?" Kumoru shouted back. He was not yet visible in the trees, but his voice was not too terribly hard to pinpoint. There was some rustling in a particularly dense section of brush a few hundred yards ahead or so, and the sound of the necromancer's voice seemed to confirm that he was there.

"Daddy's not lost anymore!" Donat exclaimed with great glee. He ran towards the sound of his father a few dozen steps, leaping over a branch in the process, then turned to beckon Miss Aylana to hurry. "We found him!"

Donat decided not to wait for Miss Aylana, and just scampered ahead to get to his father. Still, he stole glances over his shoulder every couple of steps just to be sure he had not lost the angel.

During one of these glances, however, one the goat's feet caught a large rock. The boy let out a yelp of surprise and pain at his stubbed toes, and promptly fell on his face.

Kumoru stepped out of the brush just in time for Donat to land at his feet. The necromancer let out one of those little nervous laughs of relief, and gathered the boy up in his arms.

"There you are! Why did you run off like that?" He held Donat tightly to his chest while the boy lifted the foot he had hurt and rubbed his toes gently. "Don't you ever do that again, you hear?" Although his voice was firm, Kumoru still ruffled Donat's hair a little as he spoke.

Then he looked past the boy to the approaching woman and smiled faintly. "Thanks for bringing him back here," he said to Aylana.
