It seems that I meet more girls that are into manga/anime than guys, but I think the percentage is closer to 50/50.

Twisted Minds I belive that. There are more girls than guys in this place I wouldn't doubt it... I run the manga club at my school, and it started with me and about 5 girls, but then it began to even out, so now it's more like 3 girls and 3 guys, not including me (I'd be the 4th guy)... The girls come more reliably, though.

From the looks of it on this forum its like 70% girls but i think its more like 50-50 because out of the guys and girls I know about the same amount like manga. not as much as me though lol

It depends. When I lived in the States more girls were into it than boys.
But here at my school in Paris I'm the only girl into anime and manga. Granted I'm more of a fanatic than all the boys are but still.

Holly I think that's true in Japan, but I don't know about other places. I run a manga club at my school... the first year it was all girls, but then some guys started coming, and now it's 50-50.

I'd also say it's 50-50, but I know of more guys who read manga. (I stay and read manga at the bookstore all day and encounter more males buying or reading manga)

At my school were almost dead even most have my friends have turned into huge rurouni kenshin fans but there are so many girls who like fruits basket! So id say were now pretty average unlike middle school where it was almost all girls. neutral

My pool of friends are largely males, thus I can attest to it that not just girls like anime and manga. Although they are largely drawn to the more hack and slash types like Rurouni Kenshin and Full Metal Panic, anime and manga such as Fruits Basket does not lose out in terms of popularity either. Both sexes will be drawn to Manga no doubt, but they are attracted by different content.

i would believe that there are more female manga readers in america because most of the mangas in the stores are geared towards girls.
