Rainy Day

Finch felt to the ground with a loud yelp. He blinked for a few seconds before cracking into a smile. He frowned and let out a low growl. He got to his feet and dusted himself off, though there wasn't really anything to dust off. "That's it! Don't expect any respect from me anymore!" He said in an annoyed tone.
Raeli looked up at the vampire and moved back a little.

"Best two out of three!" The vampire called, cracking a cheeky grin on his face. "This time you can't cheat!" He added nodding at the corsea's ribbons.
"I didn't cheat. They're parts of me, they're aloud to be used." Raeli replied with a grin, "Just because I am the best twister player in the world."
"Okay, okay you win... AGAIN! Let's play something different. Something I might have a chance of winning." Finch said checking which games he had stored away in the cupboard.
"But there isn't a game you could possibly win! I am the king of rainy day championships!" Raeli snapped as if he was given an impossible task.
"I dunno... I'm getting pretty good at... What's it called again? Mono... monono..." The vampire started before attempting to pronounce a word he'd forgotten.
"Monopoly?"
"Aye, that one!" He said snapping his fingers and pointing to Raeli.

-Two Hours Later-
"Dammit! That's not fair! I lost again!" Finch shouted pouting and looking out the window. It was still raining pretty hard and the sky outside was rather dark. "I wonder how late it is? I've been meaning to get a... um... clock, but I haven't had the chance." He muttered with a sigh. Yeah. He'd never once used or owned a clock. Nor had he ever played a board game until Raeli came along.
"I'm a bit sleepy. I might go rest a little while." Raeli said getting up and stretching his arms above his head.
"That's okay. I've got to go out for a while. I'll see you when I get back." The vampire said nodding and picking up his coat and putting it on.

A Night Out

A certain vampire raised a mug of jasmine tea to his lips when something nearly made him jump. "Raeli! I've got a drink in my hand! If you don't want it all over the both of us, I highly suggest you make sure I don't have one next time to cling to me like that." He said not even looking down at the pink corsea that had latched himself to Finch's waist.
He'd grown used to the clingy-ness of the corsea, it was just when he did it unexpectedly(which was more common) that it made him jump. "There a reason your so cheerful tonight?" He asked raising an eyebrow before finally taking that sip of the tea.

"Can we go out tonight?" Raeli asked letting go of the vampire again.
"Why?"
"Because we haven't gone out in a while. Correction, I haven't gone out with you for a while." The corsea explained craving to see the nightlife again.
"What do you mean? It was just the night before last." Finch asked with a frown. "Alright, I have nothing better to do, let's go." He added not waiting for an answer.

As the two walked down the street he noticed something different about the corsea. "Are you planing something? You seem happier than normal." He said frowning.
"I'm just happy to be with you." Raeli replied not looking at the vampire. This only confused Finch more. He was always with him... There was hardly a day that went by when the two were not together.
"If you say so." he replied still trying to make sense of what the corsea told him.

Painful Secrets

Finch was squatted over the body of a dead man. The man under him was in a pool of blood and his body appeared to be cut in several places. The vampire looked around and stood up. All the buildings around him were crumbled or burning piles of rubble. The street was torn up something chronic, you wouldn't even be able to drive a car down it anymore. So much destruction.

Finch ran down the street. What was he running from? The street seemed to stretch on forever, never ending never turning. One straight line ahead of him and all he could do was run forward. But what was he running from? He stopped and turned to face the direction in which he'd come and sighed. There wasn't anything there, but the ruins of the street and the smell of blood thick in the air. He suddenly heard hundreds screaming all at once. He held his hands over his ears and cringed, falling to his knees.

He got to his feet again and turned, the screams still loud, the air still thick with the smell of blood and burning flesh, he street still nothing but ruins. He ran again, panting and feeling weakness come over him. Running running running. But what was he running from? He closed his eyes tight wishing the screaming would stop. When he opened his eyes again he saw a figure infront of him.
The screams stopped when he realised who the figure was. Alexi. He looked a right mess, blood and dirt and ash all over him. He was staring at Finch with hate filled eyes. Those eyes. Alexi turned away from him and walked forward, fading with every step. Finch reached out and stepped forward, but the frenchman had vanished before he could catch up to him.

"Finch..." a whispered voice echoed behind him. The vampire gasped and turned around to see Raeli. He tried to speak but couldn't make a sound. Only when the screaming started again, even louder and right in his ears. Hundred of voices all at once, screaming on and forcing Finch on his knees again. He looked back up to see the corsea had vanished. No where to be seen. The screaming got louder still. Louder. Louder. Sharper. Painful to listen to. Finch let out a loud scream in pain of his own...
and sat up in his bed panting and covered in sweat.
"It's going to haunt me until the end of time, till the end of my life." The vampire muttered wide-eyed.
"Finch? What's wrong? You look sick and scared..." A concerned, but familiar voice said beside him. Raeli cocked his head and looked the vampire over again.
"It was just... a nightmare." Finch replied shaking his head.
"The same as the others?"
"yes."
"Why is it always the same one? Why do you only have the one nightmare? I don't understand." Raeli asked with a frown.
"It's okay. I don't really understand entirely myself." Finch replied with a shrug.
"Then tell me what happens. Tell me what's so bad in this dream, I might be able to help." The corsea said getting closer to Finch still with a look of concern.
"I can't."

A little more Independent

Raeli looked up and Finch and raised his eyebrow. "You... what?" he asked in disbelief.
"I'll let you go out on your own today. You just have to make sure you don't stay out to long and don't wander too far. I'll give you a cell phone in case there is a reason to call, though I doubt there would be. I trust you to be careful." The vampire replied digging around in a draw of his desk.
"But why?" Raeli asked a little confused. Did he do something wrong? Or was Finch trying to let go?
"Because you won't be with me for the rest of your life, will you. Visit, sure, but you can't live here forever." Finch explained handing him the phone he found, "That and I can't be bothered going out today."

Of coarse he knew the real reason. he wanted to spend 'alone' time with Alexi again. Didn't matter. Raeli was a little nervous going outside on his own for the first time. 'Not to far. Just to the park. Then home after a while.' he told himself kissing Finch lightly on the cheek before leaving.

When he was there, he found the park quite boring. It just wasn't the same without someone else around. He decided to head home about and hour or so later, giving Finch plenty of space. It was during that little hour that Raeli realized the importance of having friends. Maybe next time he should try and get along with others a little better?

Burnt toast

Finch was in a bad mood. A very bad mood. Raeli could swear he was female and having PMS troubles. His moods were constantly swinging from grumpy to happy or to emotional. It wasn't normal.
"Are you alright, Finch?" he asked watching the vampire pull 4 peices of burnt toast out of the toaster and add them to a pile on his right, "Is the toaster broken?"
The vampire shook his head. "I'm just feeling a little... annoyed." He replied not looking at the corsea behind him.
"At what?"
"Life in general."
"So you're taking it out on the bread?" Raeli asked with a slight frown. he smiled when he got the response he was looking for, a chuckle and a nod. Finch turned around and tossed him a piece off the top of the pile. "You think you can revive it?" He asked cocking his head a little.

Raeli giggled and glided over to the bin to throw it out. "It's a waste of bread you know. If you hadn't burned it, we could have had toast." He said glancing at the loaf of charcoaled toast on the bench.
The vampire shrugged. "I have to get a job soon anyway. I'm running out of money again." Finch said sitting at the table and motioning for Raeli to sit too. "It's going to be a little hectic for a few weeks. No lights or electricity unless absolutely necessary, and food will only be what we need, not what we want. Not nearly as many treats." He explained. he was clearly worried. It was hard for him to get jobs. He had no real skills he could use in a workplace. Another downfall was with the man's numbers. Though he taught Raeli, Finch still wasn't at all comfortable with the very little math he knew.
"I understand. Don't worry about it. As long as we survive, it's all good." Raeli replied with a smile and a nod.

Too long

Finch was standing in his kitchen drinking jasmine tea. He had a distant look on his face until Raeli began to speak. "Is something wrong?" he asked curiously. The vampire shook his head.
"I'm fine. I was just thinking about some things." He replied with a faint smile, ruffling Raeli's hair.
"What things?"
"You things." His guardian replied staring at the wall blankly again, "The first time I saw you. What it was like before you came along."
Raeli frowned and glided over to the vampire's side. "Am I bothering you?"
"Of coarse not! What a ridiculous idea! You actually did the opposite. You made my life happier just by being there. When no one else is around, you're my company." Finch explained flicking his gaze to the corsea.
"I'm glad. For a moment then I thought you didn't like me." Raeli said with a slight sigh of relief. He took the tea from the vampires hand and drank the rest of it before hugging him. "You're welcome." he said before letting him go again.
"For what, prey tell?" Finch asked frowning.
"I know what you're thinking." Was all the response he got.

Painting

Raeli smiled and put his paintbrush to paper. The bristles glided along the surface, leaving behind it a tail of a washed out pink. He dipped the brush in a jar of water and sat back to admire his work.
The corsea was a useless painter, except when it came to flowers and plants. this one he'd done specifically for Finch's wall. he was sick of seeing an empty space where any normal person would have seen a television. Finch apparently had no need for such a thing. His guess was because the vampire was probably almost as old as the goblin king himself, if not older.

Raeli took the painting off the easel and held it out in front of him. It was probably the best he'd done so far. "Fantastic. Now he has not excuse for having a bare wall space." He said aloud to himself as he began to pack up his paints. He'd learned how to avoid stares from other people in the park by seating himself by the pinker flowers. He seemed to blend in a little easier, or enough not to feel awkward while painting the flowers.
Finch rarely got to see the flowers in day light. He could only go outdoors wearing a special kind of ring, which apparently very draining on his energy. He figure a permanent portrait of the daylight's beauty would cheer the vampire up a little.

Longing feel

Raeli was watching the stars outside on the balcony. Finch was out, so he was all alone again. All alone. Now those were some depressing words. The corea really wanted to make some new friends. Ones of his kind. Underground creatures. He knew there had to be a few around, the problem was locating them. The only time he really got to see any others were at the parties Jareth hosted on special occasions. Even then he rarely got to speak with them. Most of them were older and had been living in the underground, so they didn't always have much in common.

It got the corsea wondering. What would life have been like if he hadn't been aboveground? What if he'd been with his own people? Were there actually any others like him, or was he one of a kind? So many questions running through his mind at once. It was confusing and only made him a little more depressed. The corsea dragged himself inside, locking the door on his way in and tucked himself into bed. What else was one to do when they'd spent hours watching the moon rise, feeling lonely?

Secrets Told

"Finch... why... am I here?"
"Here? How do you mean?"
"Why do you think it was, I ended up with you...?"
"Huh? The reason you ended up with me? ...Well I... I don't particularly want to talk about it."
"You don't want to talk about it? What kind of answer is that?"
"it isn't one. Do you really want to know?"
"I kind of already do. I am here for that reason afterall. I just want... more details. What happened in your past to make you want someone who would stay close to you? And always forgive and forget?"
"That's exactly what I was trying to avoid."
"I'd still like an answer."
"Raeli, please..."
"Finch, I want to know. It's haunting you, I know. I want to know what bothers you so."
"Fine... Just... Try not to tell everyone..."
"I won't."
"A while ago, when I was still dating Shandi, we did something horrible. We lived on this mansion on the edge of a hidden mountain road, that overlooked the town below. As you may know, a vampire's lust for blood is never truly satisfied. Each night... we would go down to the town... and pick some victims at random. After draining them... we'd set their home and body alight to avoid suspicion... we were killers... cold, heartless killers."
"That's what haunts you?"
"No. We... I did more than just that. Well after Shandi left me, I continued the nightly act of draining and burning. People were always weary and alert now. One night... Someone managed to catch me on film... When the footage was aired on the local news, I was in town. I was instantly recognized, so I... I started killing everyone... I began to burn every building and slit the throats of every soul that crossed my path... I couldn't let anyone escape. And I didn't... Every single person in that town was murdered by my hands alone. The buildings burned for days on end... It stopped raining. There was no water from the heavens to wash away the suffering... the blood and the bodies... even now the rotting corpses of innocent people litter the ruins of a torn city. Men... Women... Children... even the animal were slain. I couldn't let anyone survive at the risk of being hunted down and killed. For years after I watched over the town, feeling nothing for any of them. To me they were like cattle, who had to be put down because of a contagious disease. It wasn't until a bus-load of high-school kids had a crash not far from the mansion that I realised my mistake. Even then it wasn't until I'd killed all but two of them. Killed them because I needed fresh blood to stop me going insane. Those last two survivors made me realise just what had become of me. I killed them too. Out of fear that they were right. the dreams had been haunting me for ages, but I blocked them out until after that night..."
"So you're telling me... that I am here with you because you feel no one could ever forgive you for such a thing?"
"Yes."
"I do. You've changed. I saw that happen one night. The man you were about to throw over the balcony. You stopped, and you thought about what you were doing. You're not a killer anymore."
"No one ever stops being a murderer."
"Forget about it. I forgive you. By tomorrow I will have forgotten."
"Thank you."
"Any time. That's what I'm here for."

Yo-yo VS a Book

"Hey, Rae? What are you doing?" A curios vampire asked his charge with a frown. In front of the corsea was a pile of toys and thing and a book lying next to a yo-yo a little off to the side.
"well... You know how I used to be obsessed with the yo-yo? And reading the book? I was wondering which I prefer. I'm more into the book I think, but the yo-yo still seems mighty inviting." Raeli replied fiddling with his hair.
"Perhaps you like both the same?" Finch suggest raising an eyebrow.
Raeli shook his head and continued to fiddle. "I definitely like one more. I'm just not sure which."
"Do you maybe like reading some books and not others? And that might be why you can't decide?" The vampire asked sitting down next to him, "What is all this for anyway?"
"Well. I don't want to keep it all. I've sorted out what I do and don't want to keep apart from these few things." came the reply, "I don't want everything to clutter."
"Why can't you keep the book and the yo-yo? I'm sure you could fit both." Finch said with a frown looking around the room. He found it hard to believe the corsea was worrying about clutter. He had an entire room to himself to stash everything.
"Well, I would. But then that'd just make more clutter than necessary should I get more stuff. So you may as well get rid of some of it now."
"You're such a strange little creature." Finch replied with a chuckle, "Keep them both. I won't let you get rid of either of them."

Stories

A pink corsea was lying on the floor, on his stomach in the middle of the living room. Next to him in a condensation soaked glass was a light pink transparent liquid, with an orange straw dipped in it. Raeli was humming away to a song he'd made up with Jynelle while he read from a book underneath him.
'The wild wind whistled through the sails of the Naval ship. Not another sound could be heard over the roar of the ocean, kicking the ship on either side and licking the deck as the water spilled over. The crew said nothing to one another, though they all knew what each other was thinking. The Monster of the Deep. The stormy cloud overhead threatened with rain and thunderous noises. They should not have traveled so far.'

"Raeli!! I'm back! I'm sorry I was gone so long." Finch called as he came through the front door. He spotted the drink on the ground and frown. "What, pray tell, is that?" he asked a little worried.
"Huh? Oh, you mean the drink. It's something I made up from other random drinks. I think there's watermelon juice in there making it pink. It's quite nice. Looks refreshing to, don't you thing?" Raeli explained looking us from his book. He took a sip and smiled. "Want some?
Finch shook his head and held a hand out with his palm facing the corsea. "Nu-uh. I dunno how lethal it is." He joked sarcastically before making his way to the kitchen, "What are you doing?"
"Reading."
"Reading what?"
"Something I wrote a few weeks ago. I wanna see if there's anything i can improve on." Raeli said with a sigh before he started humming the same song and reading on.
'There was a large cracking sound and everyone looked up. The mast had been broken in two. How had it happened without a single soul noticing? "Captain!! You'd better come see this!" ...'

Dream Journeys

"Did you write this? It's pretty good." Finch asked while he was leaning back on a dining room chair, his feet anchoring him in balance.
"What are you- Finch!! Hey!! Don't read that?!" Raeli started as he sat down with his breakfast and noticed Finch with one of his books. He jumped across the table and attempted to snatch the book off him, only to have the vampire move his hands and gaze so he'd miss.
"It's good. Why don't you want me to read it?" he asked curiously, stilling running his eyes across the words on the page.
"because... It isn't finished... and... it's embarrassing." The corsea replied trying to snatch the book again, only to fail once more.
"Embarrassing? How?" Finch asked, finally looking at the distressed being on the table.
"Well... it has my dreams in it... I dream things and then the next day I turn them into stories..." Raeli replied sliding off the table with a sigh, "I didn't want anyone to see what my ridiculous mind thinks about while I'm asleep."
"I don't think it's ridiculous... Most of it is navy voyages, yeah? I don't think that silly. I think it's quite interesting. Especially these later ones. Almost seems like you're writing a novel." The vampire said trying to cheer him up. They were actually pretty good stories.
"Maybe, maybe not. Now give it back please?" The corsea asked holding his hand out palm up and placing his other hand on his hip impatiently.
"Alright, alright." Finch replied handing the book back to him. He gave a sudden yelp after letting go of the book, having lost balance and started falling back. He hit the ground with a thud and blinked a few times before bursting out laughing.
"Are you alright, Finch?" The pink corsea asked looking down at him with a worried look.
"I'm alright. Just a bit of a shock is all." The vampire explained picking himself and the chair up off the hard floor.
"you're such a freak." Raeli giggled shaking his head, unimpressed.
"What's your point?" Finch asked raising an eyebrow.
Raeli just shook his head again and left to put the book away.

Circus

"Finch? What... do you do when you're bored?" A pink corsea asked looking up from where the creature clung to the vampire.
"How do you mean? I don't usually get bored." Finch replied with a slight frown.
"But that's because you're always doing things, isn't it? What do you do to not get bored?" The younger creature asked again. Clearly he was at a loss as to what to do with himself. Mercutio had taken Jynelle on a 3 day holiday, so he was stuck with just himself and Finch.
"I... Don't really think about it... I go out for a walk with you or by myself... I... sleep... eat... invite someone over or go to someone else's place... Go out to the shops or a cafe'... I dunno. Not a terrible lot really. I think the reason I don't get bored is because I've been around so long. I've been grown up for a lot longer and worked around the whole 'boredom thing' I guess."
"Well that doesn't help any. Do you... want to go out somewhere? Or do something with me? Like maybe... umm... I dunno. I just need something to do." Raeli asked letting the vampire go and heading over to the nearest dinning chair. "I feel like I've done everything I can do."
Finch smiled and nodded. "That's pretty normal I think... I used to feel like that a lot anyway. Would you like to go to the park? I haven't been there since before you painted those flowers for me. I also heard there was a circus setting up somewhere nearby if you'd like to go." He suggested with a thumbnail in his mouth while he thought.
"Circus? What's that again?" Raeli asked looking slightly confused about the situation. It sounded interesting. He wouldn't mind finding out. "After this... circus thing, could we go to the library? The book I have will be due back soon."
Finch nodded and picked up his coat. It was breezy outside, and he didn't like that kind of weather much. He handed Raeli his and started explaining what a circus was. "A circus is like a traveling carnival. The usually bring animals such as lions and elephants with them to do performances. The circus is really about entertainment. There are games to play and shows to watch. It's a little hard to explain but once we get there, you understand better."

-------

When the two arrived at the circus grounds it was late afternoon. Along the way Finch had felt sick from being in the daylight two long and so they went to a coffee shop until he was feeling better. "I'm sorry we're so late. I guess we're lucky the circus runs until 4pm, huh?" Finch apologized still looking a little sickly.
"It's okay. I know it's not easy for you." Raeli replied with a nod. His attention wasn't on Finch in any way, it was on the performers and colours that decorated the little allys created by lining up booths. They looked like little tents with a wall missing. He turned when he heard a strange noise he'd never heard before. It was the sound of a miniature car driving along with a funny looking man dressed in bright colours and bad makeup honking the horn. "Why does he look like that in such a public place?" Raeli asked looking up at Finch. The vampire shrugged.
"It's a clown. That's what he gets paid to do." He explained handing a stick of cotton candy to Raeli. He wasn't to fond of the youngster eating sugary and unhealthy food, but he decided it was part of the circus experience.
"What's this?" Raeli asked somewhat confused until a toddler stumbled past him, munching away at his own fluff on a stick.
"Cotton candy. Not something you get everyday. Very unhealthy, but fun at the same time." Finch answered before placing a lollypop in his mouth. he signaled for Raeli to follow him and lead the corsea into a large tent at the edge of the circus grounds.

------

Finch and Raeli stood aside as the other people filed out of the circus tent, all chatting about the amazing show they'd just witnessed and asking each other what their favourite act was. "So? Did you enjoy it?" Finch asked when the crowed died down to just a few. Raeli nodded and smiled. "I can't believe how talented some people are."
"Believe it. You just saw it with you're own eyes." Finch replied ruffling his hair a little. "We'd better get going now. The library is going to close soon, and knowing you, you'll want to have a quick browse." The vampire suggested stretching his arms above his head.

Responsibilities?

"Are you sure you don't mind being left here alone?" A guilty feeling vampire asked his corsea charge with a tilt of his head. He was going to be out all night again, hanging out with Niro and Mercutio(who they'd managed to finally find).
"I won't be alone silly!! I'll have Jynelle and Ruth with me." Raeli reminded him with a smile. He actually was a little worried. Of the three that were being left behind for the night, Raeli was the most mature. That meant he was probably going to have to be the one keeping order. What did Finch call it? Babysitting?
"I know but those two aren't exactly the best company to have so late at night. Ruth is a sobbing mess because her mother's done a runner and Jynelle just not happy because Mercutio wont be here with you all. You know how she goes into that strange mood of hers." Finch said with a sad sigh. He raised the mug in his hand to his mouth, but didn't take a sip. "I don't want this now." He muttered offering the untouched coffee to Raeli, "And you might need it if you're spending the night alone."

"I won't be alone!" Reali replied with a faint laugh. he took the mug and took a sip. He'd never had coffee before. Not as satisfying as tea, but it wasn't too bad. "If I do go to bed before you get back I'll leave the painkillers out for when you get home in the morning." He added feeling somewhat like he was looking after the vampire as well.

-------

Mercutio bit his bottom lip and screwed his face up. "A-are you sure you don't want one of us to stay with you? I'm not comfortable with this..." he muttered shuffling the upset Ruth on his back. He found her even more unhappy when he told her he wasn't going to be back till morning.

"Some killers you are... Honestly. How did you cope with killing people in the past, if you feel guilty just leaving us here?" Raeli asked with a chuckle, sipping on some jasmine tea. "We'll be fine, I'm sure." He attempted to re-assure them. They were already late meeting Niro.

The werewolf sighed and put Ruth down on the couch. "Listen to me, okay Ruthy? I'll only be gone for the night. I promise I'll come back for you and Jynelle in the morning. I will never leave you like your mother did. Until Finch and I get back, you are to listen to Raeli and do as he says, okay? He's the one in charge while we're gone. Jynelle, you behave yourself too. We'll see you when we get back." He explained to the eight year old girl and the dryad. He turned to see Finch waiting at the door, having already given a talk earlier.
"We'll see you then." Finch called back as well as the two left with and the door closed with a thud.

-------

Hours had passed and the two girls had almost forgotten how upset they were being left behind under Raeli. "Left hand red!" Raeli called with a smile watching the two get tangled between each other on the twister mat.
Ruth squealed and within the same second she was on the ground in a fit of giggles. "And Jynelle is the winner of the Twister Tournament!" Reali said with a grin. It was getting late now. About half past 10.

"Alright. Time to wind down, girls. I want to see you both in bed asleep by 11:30." Raeli instructed before taking a bite of his apple, ignore the objections from the other two.
"Come on! Just one more round of-"
"No. No more games." The corsea cut in shaking his head. "Find something else to do for the next hour."
"Raeli! Read us one of your stories!!" Jynelle asked with a bright smile.

-------

Finch and Mercutio came back early. Mercutio was sober, however Finch was rank with the smell of alcohol. Apparently he wasn't drunk either, Niro just poured beer on his head because he refused to drink it. "Hey guys, we're back!" Finch said heading straight for the bathroom to clean up.

"I just got the others to sleep. You two are back early. Did something happen?" the pink corsea asked the werewolf closing the door to his room softly.
"No, no. We just didn't want to leave you three alone all night... Though it looks like you handled things pretty well... It was a lot to asked for, babysitting the other two. Sorry we did that to you." The blonde explained taking a seat on the couch, "I may as well stay here for the rest of the night."

"No trouble at all. I must admit I was a little worried but it all worked out okay. If you two are home, I think I'll go to bed myself. Night Finchy!!" Reali replied before disappearing into his room again.
