Yeah, I didn't like New Moon too much, because Bella was all depressed and Jacob was all like "*internally screaming* SCORE! Now's my chance to steal Bella!" And there was NO EDWARD FOR A WHOLE ******** CHUNK OF THE BOOK.

Uh-huh, that really upset me. *shakes head sadly*

I hope that Eclipse is a bit better.

It was disappointing and boring. Bella's ignorance bothered me. The clues/foreshadows were way too obvious... no surprises at all. I mean she know vampires exist, why the hell did it take her so long to figure out the truth behind the werewolves? The angst wasn't that great either. I’m a fan of angst and tragedies... but this… I didn't even feel much sympathy… much less shed a tear or w/e. But I guess the ending was a good set up for the third book… hopefully it'll b much more eventful.

Alice was awesome, needless to say. But I’m not sure if I can say the same for Bella and Jacob. Could Bella be any more gullible? Believing Edward like that and then spend half of the book with a rain cloud over her -_- when it’s so obvious that he still loves her. Pathetic… and irritating on my part.

wonder when the third one's coming out question

Too true Heidrich, too true.

Eclipse is going to be out in the fall.

My friend's mum was talking about going to get the ARC in June. I hope my friend will be as generous as she was with Twilight and New Moon, so I can read it sometime early this summer ^_^

I did get bored. I read the last few chapters first, then picked up where I left off originally. The problem was, when I read through the middle part, I kept feeling terrible for Jacob. I really grew to like him.
I liked the novel, though, and I intend to read it again...in the right order.

I don't think it sucked, but it was definately more mellow than Twilight. But as -almost- everyone says, the ending was awesome, really sets up Eclipse well.

I hope she goes into more detail on the Volturi eventually because they are the pwningness! [/sidenote]

I wouldn't say its better then twilight, that book I couldn't book down, but it was close. Bella reacted to the break up the same way I would, which made me really connect with her, and the huge role Jake played (like o.m.g. he's a werewolf now!) made me smile.

It really changed how I thought of Edward though. confused

I can't say I hate New Moon but I sure dodn't enjoy it at first... NOTHING HAPPENED towards the end of the beginning and beginning of the middle! (No offense to those who like Bella) All Bella did was BORING!!! She just moped and was depressed! The ending was the best part because Edward and the Cullens came back!!!! heart heart But seriously New Moon was unfortunately not as great at Twilight... crying crying

It was as good as Twilight, just kind of in a different way. I didn't really start liking it until the second time I read it, so I understand what you mean. I had to know the ending before I could relax and enjoy the book.

i liked New Moon, but i have a theory about 2nd books in a series of books. This doesnt apply to all series, but i have noticed this.

2nd books are usually the least enjoyed, but have some of the largest quantites of information concerning future books.

ex: Harry Potter. the second book was and will probably always be my least favorite, yet it held BOUNDS of info for the future (aka the diary. and Tom R.)

ex2: the redwall series, Mossflower. my friend who read it, couldnt get through it and said it bored her completely, yet it also had TONS of info concerning future books.

so i figure, like some have already said, that this is giving info/ setting up for an even better future book. even though i loved it all the same (Twilight was better..........it had more heart Jasper heart .)

sorry about talkng about oter books, other than Twilight& such. needed examples.

agreed with the Harry Potter thing, but wasn't Mattimeo the second book in the Redwall series?

okay..like..honestly
it was so boring!

My favorite character, Jacob, did have like..a major role in this book, so that was pretty cool
but a whole bunch of nothingness happens!!

The beginning was good, with Bella's 18th Birthday and all
Then Edward left and she was all depressed
And like the next 250 pages were boring as hell

Bella is just moping around being all sad and nothing much happens between Bella and Jacob

It only started getting cool when Alice came back
which was like..in the last 100 pages of the book
And then when you see Edward again, he, at least I thought, was being such an a**..

It took me 5 days to read New Moon. I couldn't keep reading for hours straight like when I was reading Twilight..

Sorry for quoting this, but...
New Moon didn't suck, it just kinda didn't live up to its predecessor. But I agree in a lot of ways... Jacob is my favourite character, as well, and I liked his part in the book. New Moon... I read 3 chapters, put it down, and after 2 weeks I decided to give it a go again, and I read the entire thing in a day, but it was because I like JACOB.
And..... Edward is a butt-head. Sorry, Edward fans, but I only skimmed through the later not really important Ed-parts, because I don't know. I used to love Edward, like... my third favourite character, but now, eh. And and and!! HE WAS MEAN TO JAKE. And I think both Bella and Edward's characters fell apart... Not relationship-wise; person-wise.
I thought it got... a bit redundant when Alice came back.... Like... it was too much like Twilight, not story wise, but plot-wise--not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm not saying the book got worse, it did get much, much better when Alice came along. The Volturri part was good, Laurent was a good twist, maybe Victoria's part in the story was a bit too much(?). Like... She played such a key role at first, and totally faded away later...
And angst is okay, I happen to love angsty books, but... I don't know why, but I dislike the angst in New Moon. I could relate to Bella in sooo many ways when she was depressed. But to believe Edward like that? I wouldn't.

My grammar fell apart at the end, sorry.

Wow, I just wrote this HUGE journal entry/review kinda thing in another thread, about this exact same topic sweatdrop

I could say that that's one way to look at it. In the back of my mind, a voice kept saying that the book was boring, too, until the part where Alice shows up. It definitely brightened my mood there.

But, not like you, I was too eager to have Edward back to stop reading.
I'd have nightmares if I didn't get to see him again before I went to bed. I actually wouldn't even be able to sleep.
It took me 13 hours to read the book altogether sweatdrop

I'm re-reading it more slowly now, though.
I'm pretty sure I got the story as well as if I had read it in 5 days, but I like re-reading my good books. 3nodding

~is thinking about copying and pasting her huge answer about this topic in here~ ninja

Ok, so I couldn't resist, and here's my reply to the same topic, just in another thread xd

I don't know.
I had a feeling I would detest New Moon sooner or later, but to my own surprise, I didn't.
~sighs deeply~ There is just so much to say about those two books, in comparison, you know.
I liked New Moon. Twilight is still more appealing to me, because I'm a hopeless sucker for romance, and Twilight had plenty of that.
But I can't say I don't like New Moon. It has a lot of feeling to it. It made me cry for almost all the time I was reading it.
The beginning of New Moon was weird to me; I don't know about other people, but... I couldn't quite explain it clearly. From the very beginning, it was like I could sense there was something changed, something wrong. I don't know. xp

The middle was boring, I must admit. sweatdrop
But I have my own reasons for that. I was frustrated. Frustrated that Jacob was the one that had to be there for Bella when she needed support the most, and not Edward. I was mad at Edward, and because of that, I ended up not liking Jacob for a while.
Of course, I have nothing against him - I admire such niceness, and loveability (is that even a word? xd Well, it is now sweatdrop ), and the intensity that he liked Bella, and he wanted to protect her.
I was somehow very connected to Bella throughout the whole book. Maybe that's why I didn't detest it. I could feel what she felt. Eventually, I started to feel a little soothed when Jacob was around too.
And when she said "I'd forgotten how much I really liked Jacob Black.", I remembered too. I liked him in the first book. It was just the shock of Edward leaving that made me forget that detail for a while. It made me forget about Jacob altogether.
Now, when Jacob turned into a werewolf... I must admit, I didn't like it very much. Maybe I didn't like it at all.
In my mind, his image had changed so much, and it just kept changing more and more, that it seemed like he was a completely different person - the Jacob I knew was nowhere to be found.

Anyways, I was so eager to have Edward back - the pain of having him away was so strong - that I ended up reading the book in a rush, 13 hours spent reading, with little breaks, only to sleep, eat, and few things like that. (I also came to this guild a lot during my depression throughout the book sweatdrop )
I was surprised to realize it didn't feel like only 13 hours at all - it felt like eight months. eek The most horrible eight months of my life... crying

As I said before, Twilight has the romance I love so much, it got me thrilled, it got me excited, and giggling for no reason - but New Moon has the emotion, the pain. It made me cry, and hurt, and kind of want to be dead too. Kind of like two extremes, if you know what I mean.

I think New Moon, as painful as it was (and sort of boring too, in the middle, with the whole plot-less scenes), was needed for the course of the story.
It showed how Edward and Bella truly belong together. Nothing will come in the way of their feelings again. And now, hopefully, Edward also knows better.
I understand that Bella wasn't mad at Edward at the end of the book - I wasn't either. The pain of having him away, and the relief of finally having him there again, was so big, so strong. There was no room for rage. There never is room for rage when it's about Edward.

Also, I kind of think that the end of the book made up for the middle of it. I have to admit, it was kind of hard to believe all that, Italy, and Volterra, and the Volturi, and all that, when everything was going so fast. But it was thrilling, exciting - I could barely sit still while reading.
My relief, my happiness was so huge, to have Edward back. I don't think I could compare that feeling to the feeling I got with Twilight.
The fact of having him away for so long made his return a hundred times sweeter. 3nodding

Well ~sighs~ I guess I'm done with my review. sweatdrop
I hope people understand what I wanted to say. sweatdrop
