October 16th, 2005 - Fishy?
Dragonfly was sitting on her couch, legs curled beneath her, her eyes staring at a book, but not really reading it's pages. Her mind was preoccupied with more straining matters, and she found herself dwelling more and more upon them.
Her thoughts were inturupted by the sound of her doorbell, and she blinked a bit, before pulling herself up off the couch, wondering who could be calling. She wasn't expecting anyone, but then again, she never knew.
A moment of fear passed through her, idly wondering if it was trouble ringing her door bell. Nowadays, she couldn't be too careful, after all. But then again, she knew he wouldn't try anything right in the doorway of her home... Or at least, she hoped he wouldn't. She knew that if he did such a thing, things were sure to escalate, and she didn't want her many children seeing such... things.
"Put it out of your mind," she told herself sternly, making her way through the large home towards the front door.
She cautiously peered through the peep hole, and seeing no one, she cautiously opened the door, just a little. She blinked as she only saw a box, and pulled the door open the rest of the way.
"Now what's this?" she wondered, leaning towards the box, and peering inside, "Ooh. A fish!"
She grinned to herself, lifting the box and bringing it inside, closing the door with a snap behind her. She set the box in the crook of her arm, making sure to lock the door before heading towards the kitchen, so she could take the fish bowl out of the box.
She set the box on the counter, before carefully lifting the bowl out of the box, and smiling as she caught sight of the name on the tag. She decided to put the fish's bowl back in the box, and let Lance open the box on his own.
Dragonfly knew that Lance was probably in his room, seated at his desk, pouring over a book, or practicing his writing. The tale seemed to be growing up so fast...
"Laance!" Dragonfly called as she made her way up the stairs, and down the hall. She was glad that Lance had chosen to take a room close to the stairs, or she knew that she would probably have gotten lost looking for him, as she was still not acustomed to having such a large home. After all, she'd lived in a small apartment before Vincent's generosity!
Just as Dragonfly had guessed, Lance was hard at work at his desk. Upon hearing his name, however, he pulled himself out of the oversized chair, and made his way out of his room, peeking his head out his door, and towards Dragonfly.
"Yes?" he answered, looking towards Dragonfly questioningly.
"There's something special for you in the kitchen," Dragonfly smiled, before turning to walk back down the stairs.
This of course, perked Lance's curiousity, and he slipped out of his room, shutting the door behind him. Upon reaching the kitchen, he walked past Dragonfly, and peered curiously at the box on the counter.
"For me?" Lance blinked, sliding the box carefully off of the counter, to set it on the floor where he'd be able to see whatever was inside better.
He blinked as he reached in, and his fingers touched cold glass. Curiousity at it's peak now, he pulled out the bowl, coming face to face with a blinking, gulping koi. He grinned widely at the fish, immediatly knowing who the gift was from, without even looking at the tag. However, upon setting the fish bowl down, he reached for the tag, to read it. His grin only widened as he read it, and he looked towards Dragonfly from his crouched position on the floor.
"So it's alright for us to keep?" he asked, looking hopeful.
"Of course it's fine Lance," Dragonfly replied before she'd really given it thought, upon doing so however, she added, "But we'll need somewhere with more room to keep it... After all, it's going to grow, and a big fish can't be in a little bowl..."
Lance pondered this predicament, before grinning, "I'll build a koi pond,"

Vidya's sandals barely made a sound as she marched towards Lance's house, completely and utterly ignoring any strange looks she was getting, and DOUBLY ignoring the bag that constantly hit her side, one that occasionally moved and shifted on its own. It been about a day since she found whatever it was that was inside the bag, and it took her that long to think of a suitable owner for it.
No way was SHE taking care of it. She already had Kalani, thank you! And he was more of a hassle than she ever wanted in her entire life. So, naturally, when another creature pretending to be a plush toy found its way onto her window sill, she made a promise to herself to get rid of it as soon as possible, incase it got attached to her like Kalani did.
But, in this plushs' defence, it didn't give off a creepy, almost evil vibe that Kalani always did...no, this one seemed kind and gentle, but it also gave off an adventurous aura as well. As wonderful as this plush FELT to be around...
...She still rather have it go to someone else. So after quite a while of pondering the matter, she decided that Lance would make the perfect recepient of this lovely...thing. It worked out in the end, so why fight the issue? So thats what got her to this point in time, standing infront of Lance's doorstep. Ah, she remembered this house so well...
Shaking her head, she took the currently plush thing out of her bag, setting it on the doorstep, and placing a letter infront of its mouth. "Hold please." She pleasantly urged, waiting the few seconds before the plush obliged and opened its mouth, holding onto the letter. "Thank you! Now, I want you to stay here until a dragon boy comes out. He's really nice, and he's green! You stay with him, okay?" The plushs' eerily human eyes twinkled with understanding, and it then stared intently at the door as Vidya rang the doorbell and wandered off again, leaving the plush with the letter.
A part of her wanted to drop Kalani off on someone's doorstep, but she knew the awful thing could come right back to her, so what's the point? Sighing, she skipped into a run and ran the rest of the way home, enjoying the freedom that came along with it. The Note Lance!
Hello! Its been such a long time! How're you doing? How's Aunty Dee and Vinny and everyone else? I hope they're all okay, I hope you're okay. Anyway! This is for you. He seems nice enough, but if he acts up and starts being really mean, you can bring him back to me, I can straighten him out! I've got practice!
Hope to see you soon! -Vidya

October 23rd, 2005 - Sidekicks are Wonderful!
Lance heard the doorbell from his room, and his head turned to look at his own door. His pen stopped upon the paper, and he set it down upon the desk, before sliding away from his work, and hopping off his chair. Since Dragonfly was not home, he decided that he should go and check the door, even though normally he wasn't allowed to unless he knew who it was.
Nonetheless, he padded down the stairs, towards the large, heavy double doors.
He pulled the table next to the door out from the wall, and climbed haphazardly up onto it to peer through the peephole, to see if it was a good idea whether or not to open the door. After all, if Dragonfly didn't want him to do it, surely he had to have a reason not to?
Seeing nothing, he pulled away from the peephole, looking quizicly behind him, as if expecting one of the other occupants of the house to come padding along, either to open the door for him, or give him advice on what to do. After standing for several moments with no one arriving, he decided that he would indeed, open the door.
He undid the the lock by standing on his tiptoes, the table tipping slightly as he did so. Before it fell though, he had hopped off the table, and pushed it back into place, before twisting open the door knob, and pulling it open. He peered around the edge of it, before blinking curiously at the small plushie before him.
"Hmm," he murmered, stepping out onto the front porch, and picking the plushie up, before taking the note from it.
He reckognized his name easily, and he turned back to walk into the house, closing the door behind him, and heading to his room.
Sitting down on his bed, he set the plushie down next to him before he opened the note, and read it over. He eyed the plushie next to him, before he blinked, and realized it was no longer a plushie at all!
"Hullo!" the neko greeted, a wide smile across it's features.
Lance looked a little flabergasted, and he jumped off the bed, spinning and drawing his sword from his side.
"Who are you? What happened to the plushie?" he demanded, his eyes wide, and surprised.
"Plushie? Oh! That was me!" he replied, his grin remianing, "I'm Valkyrie! Vidya told me to wait for you,"
He nodded his head sagely, while Lance sheathed his weapon once more, still surprised.
"O- kay... You're a plushie as well as- well- you?" he blinked, confused.
"Weeell.. Yes!"
Lance fell silent for several moments, scratching his head, before laughing very softly, and smiling.
"Forgive my manners. I was startled... I am Lance, and I am pleased to meet you, Valkyrie," Lance bowed slightly.
"Likewise!" Valkyrie cheered, clapping his paws togethor, "Vidya told me that you were going to be a knight! Tha's real cool. Can I help?"
Valkyrie was very, very eager to help, after all, everything he'd heard about knights sounded real cool! Not that he'd heard very much...
Lance looked as if he was considering what the other said, before he grinned and replied, "Every knight needs a squire! You can be my squire!"
"Yeah!" Valkyrie replied, throwing his arms up in a cheer, his wings flapping excitedly, "But... What is a squire?"
He blinked twice, tilting his head, his ears flattening down against his head as he stared curiously at the other.
"No knight should ever be without a squire!" Lance replied, "Squire's are there to assist a knight. Not as slaves- mind you. A knight teaches the squire, and the squire in return gives his services to the knight. Like, polishing armor and stuff,"
"That sounds like fun! I'm sure you've got a lot of stuff to teach me!" Valkyrie replied, bouncing excitedly on the bed.
"Alright then! We have an accord!" Lance grinned.
Lance would definitaly have to thank Vidya later for such a wonderful gift.

November 10th, 2005 - On Apprenticeship and Appetites
Dragonfly and Lance spend most of the day shopping around Durem. As the day begins to wind down, the two unexpectedly bump into another Tale, and Author, and togethor the four of them have dinner togethor. Pales seems to notice a mysterious prescence watching them, but disregards it for paranoia. But could it be more?
Lance/Armel Quest Playdate LinkLance's Journal Dear Journal,
Mom and I went shopping today. It was pretty boring. Or at least it was until mom ran into a man name Pales. Turns out he's got a Tale too- just like me! I was eckzited excited. His name was Armel, and he had ram horns! He was really nice, and someday he wants to be a blacksmith. I can't wait to meet him again.
While we were out I tore some of the skin offa my wrist. I dunno what that means. My skin has been feeling... Weird, lately. Like it's too tight or something. M'scared to talk to Dee. I don't want to worry her or anything- but what if it's something serious?
Maybe I'll wait a few days and see what happens.

November 18th, 2005 - Another gift?Chailyn Gift DeliveryAfter consulting the phone book for the address of Vidya's home, Dulcea and her friend Xiu Xue collected Misu and Chailyn. The tale was carrying a box that contained Lance's sword, they were going to drop it off first. Unlike Anemone, Dulcea and Xiu Xue didn't really enjoy walking and had decided to take a taxi. The two friends hoped it would be a quick service to help Chailyn out. She didn't want to wait for her mother to wake up after drifting off to sleep on the living room couch.
"To Lance's house first, I'll put it on the doorstep and ring the doorbell. Then dash back." She had it all planned out in her head. She hoped she'd be able to run fast enough if someone was near the door. As much as she would've loved to play with Lance today, she knew her sister had other plans. She was out of luck in the hope of getting to play with her friends today. It was just a quick trip to drop things off before going back home, which wasn't too bad.
They'd told Michael where they were going before they walked out the door. Hand in hand, the three made their way to the taxi and gave the driver directions to Dragonfly's house. Chailyn had warned them it look a bit creepy but Dulcea had though it was the tale's imagination. By the time the house came into view, Dulcea had changed her mind. The house was more than creepy. It looked safe to live in but that was all she could see that was good about it.
Chailyn grinned once the taxi stopped and waited til the driver gave her permission to unbuckle her seatbelt. He was driving extra carefully since he didn't have a safety seat, the toddler wasn't 4'9", the height suggested for children to use seat belts without a booster seat. She crawled over Dulcea opening the door before taking the box. A small gulp of nervousness made her throat feel dry but she made her way to the door. Placing the box on the step, she rang the doorbell and darted off.
Lance would find a note from Chailyn nestled in the box with the sword. She hadn't written a lot as she'd been at a lost for what to say. Still she'd written enough she felt. Truth be told Aislinn had helped her write most of it. She hadn't really known how to say it so the cherub had told her how to write it, adding how to spell things. Chailyn's Note Lance, As your princess, I bestow upon you a gift fit for a knight. A sword from your princess, for her knight in shining armor. If ever in danger, it'll protect you well. I hope you like it.

December 2nd, 2005 - Tail and Scales, Just like me!
Lance sat perched in the leafy branches of a tree, his wings twitching ever so slightly as his red eyes gazed morosly at the ground before him. His tail hung down over the branch he sat upon, and one leg dangled down the otherside. His arms rested on his other knee, and his chin upon his arms. His crimson eyes were shaded by his drooping eyelids, and Lance truly looked down in the dumps.
He'd agreed to come along to the playground just outsid of Barton with Dragonfly, because she had wanted to take Ethan and Leon out to play. Lance had been enjoying himself, until Leon and Ethan had decided that Lance was too weird to play with, and gone off to play with the other kids that were at the playground. They were all the same, compared to him. He was different... None of them were green, or had scales, or tails, or talon-esque toes... He'd heard them whispering about him, and thus he'd decided to discretely hide himself, until Dragonfly came to look for him. Dragonfly knew that he'd come as soon as she called, and though Lance didn't know it, Dragonfly knew exactly where the young knight was hiding. However, she knew that Lance needed his space for the moment.. She would talk to him later.
And thus, Lance was up in the tree, lonely, and aching, wishing he fit in too.
During his travels with Polecat, Ezra had spent a lot of time in the great outdoors. By now Ezra was much more comfortable in nature than with other people. He didn't look right, for one thing, and no matter how nice others were about it his difference still bothered him. People were kinder here in Gaia, where they were used to meeting not-entirely-humans, but outside of Gaia Ezra had encountered a lot of negative attention.
Polecat's plot to bring Ezra out of himself at the playground was pretty much a failure. Overwhelmed by the other children, Ezra slunk away from the main playground to the wooded area. Polecat was a little disappointed, but let him be... she was used to her charge's strange little wanderings.
The young snake-boy stood beneath a great tree, balanced on his tail. He sighed, looking at the playground. He had wanted to make friends, but there were just too many people. And most of them seemed to be ... well, normal. He couldn't use most of their playground equipment, and he felt stupid trying. Oh, well. He was used to entertaining himself.
Ezra made his way slowly through the trees, pausing to inspect the undergrowth carefully. Here and there he picked an interesting rock from the ground and put it in his shirt pocket.
Lance's ears wriggled at the sound of someone close by, and at first, he thought the shuffling of foliage was coming from above him. He looked up, and blinked through the pine needles, the only trees still with a form of green. Upon realizing that no creature would crawl through such painful spines, he looked down, and realized that there was something- no.. someone.. Someone scaley, with a tail, like him!
Lance couldn't help but scramble down then, falling the last few feet right out of the tree, and landing with an 'Oof!' on the ground below. He scrambled onto his feet, and looked bewildered towards Ezra, before remembering his manners, and bowing.
"Hi!" he exclaimed.
Ezra hissed in alarm as the other boy crashed down out of the tree. As the stranger straightened up, Ezra's urge to yell and slither off as fast as he could gave way to curiousity. The other boy looked a lot like him... scaled and tailed, with a long face that looked much more like Ezra's than any of the other children. He was a bit more "human" in shape, perhaps... he had feet, at least! But the resemblance still shocked Ezra.
"Hi," Ezra said slowly, staring at the other boy. He knew it was rude, but he couldn't help it! He had never seen someone as different as he was before.
Lance stood in stunned silence for several long moments as he got his first really good look at the other, and he couldn't help but grin.
"You look like me! I mean- We're different, yeah- but- I never saw anyone like... Well. Scaled! An'- Wow!"
Lance was obviously in awe from meeting the other, and he took a cautious step towards him.
"Are you cold blooded too? I get real tired when I'm cold- mom says it's cause I'm a dragon- and cold blooded- and- Just- Wow!"
Lance was obviously very excited.
"Forgive me! I keep forgetting my manners! M'name is Lance, a knight in training. I'm real keen on knowin' your name! I ain't ever seen someone so... similar,"
Even though Lance's fall from the tree had startled Ezra, it was hard to be intimidated by the dragon. Ezra smiled in spite of himself at the dragon's excitement.
"I never met someone so happy to see me," he said, swishing his tail through the fallen pine needles. " 'm Ezra." He paused thoughtfully, thinking over Lance's other questions. So the dragon was a knight? Ezra didn't know exactly what a knight was, but he had a vague idea that they rode around on horses rescuing people from castles. A knight sounded like a nice thing to be, anyways.
"I dunno what I'm in trainin to be, 'cept maybe an Ezra." Ezra grinned at the dragon, letting his teeth show. "I think I might've got cold blood, I don't like bein cold. My mom always keeps our house hot for me."
"Ezra," Lance replied, trying the other's name out for himself, and nodding, leaning back on his tail and resting his left hand on the hilt of his sword at his side.
"I'm just excited is all. Never seen someone scaled like- well, like us, y'know?" Lance replied. He was still excited, but he was quickly calming down, and becoming much more like himself.
Lance grinned back at the other's reply, before considering what the other said about Ezra's mother keeping the home warm for Ezra, and Lance nodded.
"My mum tries to keep the house warm- but our house is real big, so it's kinda hard. I'm always warm enough anyway," he nodded his head, and widened his grin, though fear was niggling into the dragon-tale's brain. Now that he'd found someone he could physicly relate to, he worried that maybe they wouldn't get along..
Ezra flicked his tongue in the direction of the playground -- a rude gesture, but he felt more reckless than usual. Besides, none of them could see him. "I guess it's better to be scaled sometimes than t'be all soft an squishy. B'sides, green an yellow look a lot cooler than pink an brown." The mental image of himself and Lance with normal, squishy, pink and brown skin made him laugh out loud before he caught himself.
Lance looked over to the playground to, and scowled a little.
"They can be real mean don't you think? Teasing and stuff? S'not nice," Lance murmered, crossing his arms over his chest as he watched the other small children run around and play togethor.
"I'd rather be green an yellow rather than pink and squishy any day," he nodded, before blinking as the other laughed, and raising an eyebrow, unable to help but smile from the other's laughter, "Wha's funny?"
Ezra smiled back, a little embarrassed. "I was jus' thinkin of what you an' me would look like without scales." He stuffed a hand into his pocket, pulled out a stone and started tossing it idly in the air. "I don't like teasin people. Better to be nice, that way every'n has fun," Ezra said, rolling his eyes at the playground.
"'s what were you doin up there?" he asked, tossing the rock from one hand to the other.
Lance blinked at the thought, before he too couldn't help but laugh, and grin.
"Tha's a real funny thought," he chuckled, smiling brightly to the other, before he really considered the image, and a peal of laughter escaped him.
He feel silent as the other spoke of teasing, and he nodded his head slowly in return.
"Teasing isn't nice at all. I don't like it one bit. It's not honorable, or noble at all. It's just- it's just wrong," he pouted just a little, memories of his own experiences with teasing flashing back to him, before he focused once more on Ezra.
"I was thinking," he replied, honestly enough, "And- And watching everyone else have fun,"
He shrugged a little, his tail swishing slightly behind him.
Though delighted that he'd managed to make his new acquaintance laugh, Ezra nodded seriously when Lance spoke of teasing. "I 'gree. It is wrong to make people feel bad for no reason." Ezra had endured his own share of teasing, and wasn't too impressed by the people who thought it was fun to tease.
He glanced over at the playground with a sigh. "I can't play most of their games, anyway. 'S hard to play monkeybars when you don't got feet," he said, casting a bemused look at his tail. "I'm used to entrer -- entertainin myself though." Ezra looked up at the dragon boy thoughtfully. "Maybe we could play a game ourselves."
Lance only then considered that the other had no distinct legs. He blinked twice at this new found realization, but, he didn't mind at all. Lance believed that it just made the other even neater looking!
"I don' know about not being able to climb on the monkey bars, but I know about not bein' able to play their games, an' getting left out. Daon an' Leon say that my tail gets in the way..." he murmered, glancing back at his tail, and swishing it idly, "I'm a lot more concious about where my tail goes now though, so's I don' hit anyone with it accidentally,"
He nodded somewhat sagely, before grinning back to the other at the suggestion of playing a game.
"I'd like that a lot, yeah!" he grinned, excited at the thought of playing with the other, "What d'you wanna play?"
The thought of hitting someone with his tail was amusing. Ezra didn't like violence, but the thought was too comical to be serious. He grinned. "I never hit no one with m'tail. I need it for standin on."
"Yeah, being left out's no fun," he sighed. "It'd be fun to play a game though! I just know the reg'lar ones, like hide an go seek. Us'ly I just play pretend or somethin by myself." He cocked his head at Lance thoughtfully. "D'you know any good ones?"
Lance grinned shyly back at Ezra about his tail, mumbling "I can be kinda clumsy," quietly.
This didn't ruin his mood though, and he crossed his arms, looking deep in thought as he considered games the two could play.
"It'd be hard to play hide 'an go seek around here, and tag is no fun with two people," Lance politely didn't point out that he had a great advantage in that game anyway, what with the other's lack of legs and all, "Hmmn... How about we play pretend? We can go on an adventure to- well. To anywhere if we use our imagination!"
He grinned at this before continueing, "Why, we could pretend we were in Narnia, or- or were two kings in distant lands! All kinds of stuff!"
Playing pretend was probably Ezra's favorite game, and he nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, let's play pretend! That game's my fav'rite." Playing Narnia sounded like fun, but Ezra didn't know about kings. What would kings be doing in the woods? Hmmm.
"Well, since we're in th'woods, we could be going on a quest," Ezra said slowly, looking up at the trees thoughtfully. "A magic and dang'rous quest, to... somewhere."
"That sounds like a great idea!" Lance replied enthusiasticly, "Adventures are the best kind of pretend, if you ask me!"
He grinned widely, before letting out a soft 'hmm' as well.
"We could be on a quest- lookin' for something to save the entire kingdom! Like an andidote or a god or a goddess who would take away the drought- or something," Lance suggested, his smile still just as bright.
Saving the whole kingdom appealed to Ezra. "Okay, how 'bout there's an evil wizard who made the drought?" An evil witch might be just as good, but Ezra had seen the Wizard of Oz and knew that witches were pretty wimpy. Just throw some water on them and they were gone! Lord of the Rings-type evil wizards were much scarier.
Lance grinned at the other's suggestion, and nodded his head. In the book series he'd read (for the life of him he couldn't remember the name of it at that moment) wizards had been the evil ones, trying to destroy the race of dragons. Mind you, in that story a princess (who was living with a dragon named Kestal- his mother's middle name, which Lance really liked) had saved the kingdom.
But this was their story. They were going to be the heroes this time.
"Yeah!" Lance exclaimed excitedly, "He could have an army of goblins trying to take over the kingdom- or! Or he could be using his powers to make everybody sick! Or- what else?"

December 25th, 2005 - Christmas Cheer
Lance and Valkyrie tiptoed through the house, each of them pressing their fingers to their lips to each other occasionally. Their smiles matched in enthusiasm, and the two were positively brimming with excitement.
"S'Christmas today," Lance grinned, as if the other didn't already know, "So we gotta wake Dragonfly up so we can go downstairs and start opening the big stack of presents!"
Truth be told, Lance felt that he didn't need presents, and that he was more than happy enough with what he'd already received from his friends the night before at the Tall Tales Christmas party; however, he couldn't resist the tantilizing thoughts of what Dragonfly might have bought for him. Thus, his curiosity overwhelming him, he was tiptoeing through the house just after four in the morning, getting ready to pounce Dragonfly awake, so that they could start opening presents.
However, Dragonfly was already awake.
The two learned this as they neared her room. The light was on, and as they peered around the corner into it, they realized that she was not in her bed.
"Dragon-sama is never up this early," Valkyrie whispered, glancing furtivly around.
"I know. This is really weird!" Lance murmered, nodding his head.
"Boo,"
Both boys jumped, before spinning around and coming face to face with a widly grinning Dragonfly. Valkyrie was so surprised, that with a pop he turned back into his plushified self.
"It's about time you two woke up! Christmas is half over you know," she chuckled, leaning back and resting a hand on her hip.
Lance grinned ear to ear, scooping Valkyrie up off the floor and racing downstairs. Some of the family were already digging into their stockings. Lance went straight for his own, and he immediatly began pulling out the presents. He divided them evenly amongst him and Valkyrie, so that Valkyrie could have some fun opening gifts too.
The first gift Lance unwrapped came in a small, blue box with a gold emblem of a dragon on top. Lance ran his fingers over the dragon, before flicking open the box. Inside was a bracelet with beautiful precious stones that dangled from the silver chain. Lance thought it was magnificant.

"Thanks Santa!" he breathed, running his fingers over the precious stones, before looking over to see what gift Valkyrie had choosen to unwrap.
"Oouh. Lookit this Lance! It's a globey thingy!" Valkyrie exclaimed, handing the present over to the dragon-child.

"Your astrological sign is Aries, Lance," Dragonfly explained, pointing to the symbol within the globe, "They say that astrology helps you to see your future,"
Lance puzzled over what Dragonfly had said for several moments, before deciding that he'd ask her more about it later, and setting it aside.
Once Lance had finished unwrapping his stocking stuffers, Dragonfly carried over a large, round gift. It was wrapped in a magnificant gold paper, with a green ribbon tied around it, and topped in the middle with a giant green bow.
"This one is from Vincent and I," Dragonfly smiled, setting it down for Lance to unwrap.
Lance boggled at the intracacy of the paper's design for a few moments, and the way it caught the light of the room. This didn't last long though. He slowly began to pull away the wrapping paper, and Valkyrie watched in silence as the gold fell away. Lance gasped at the beautiful gift before him.

It was a round buckler, too heavy for him now, but he knew that when he was a little older, it would be just perfect for him. Lance pulled himself away from the swirling pattern on the buckler's front just long enough to throw his arms around Dragonfly, whispering thank yous and grinning widly.
Overall, Lance thought it was a very wonderful Christmas. Especially for his very fist one.
