having the word 'metal' in it's name won't make it actually metal. my point: metalcore is not metal.

Well, I'm not adding a Metalcore section for one reason. Metalcore is a cross between Hardcore and Metal. The bands that fall in Metalcore could just be Hardcore with Metal influences..Therefore, not metal.

Thrash:
Trivium- The Crusade, Ascendancy.

Both are amazing works of the resurrectors of Thrash.

And what about Powergroove?
Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power, Cowboys from Hell
Lamb of God: Ashes of the Wake, Sacrement, Burn the Priest

Powergroove is like metal with a good rythm, very melodic guitars and beats.

Everybody and their grand-mothers know about Slayer, Sepultura and Pantera, there's no use in adding them. Same goes for Cannibal Corpse and Nile. A bit of Deicide too. And you might be asking 'what about Iron Maiden? Everybody knows them too' well, Maiden, unlike the aforemenctioned bands, did REALLY have an influence on metal as a whole.

Trivium =/= Thrash. Trivium is metalcore. The only thing Trivium has released that is considered metal is 'Ember to Inferno' and it's consdiered Melo-Death
Pantera = Thrash metal.
Lamb of God = Metalcore.

Sorry. But I'm not adding Pantera for the reason Durrypoo said. XD

Victum Soul
Power Metal

Mago de Oz - Gaia II: La voz dormida
Hammerfall - Glory to the brave, Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken
Dark Moor - Dark Moor
Nightwish - Century Child

I thought Nightwish was considered Goth Metal. Or is Goth Metal not a real genre?

Gothic Metal is as real as the air you breathe. Nightwish have a good share of Gothic Metal songs, however, their music style is predominantly Power Metal. wink

Agreed. Mr. Durrypoo: Would it be fair to call them Power Metal with Gothic Influences?

Their repertoire is comprised not only by Power Metal songs with keyboards, but also by some Gothic Metal songs, so I think Symphonic Power/Gothic Metal would be more precise, though Power Metal with Gothic Influences would be a fair generalization.

Oh yes, and for Black Metal, the album 'Icons of the Dark' by Myrk is a good pick.

My favorite Black Metal Album is 'The Covenant Progress' by Crimson Moonlight, from Sweden.

Durrypoo, I dunno if this is asking too much of you, but would you be able to help me with this thread, like, when I'm not on for long periods of time, or when I just don't get around to updating? Being on Dial-Up, it's a pain in the arse.
